  • Free space of hard drive in the MacBook air changes seemingly at random

In recent days, my hard drive went a few GB of free space, zero KB. I check with clean my mac and see, first that my free space of RAM with the passage of time is reduced up to 10 mg and space free hard drive then start reduced up to zero KB and after 20 sec RAM & hard return to normal space (increased).

    What is the problem?

You seem to be two distinct topics: storage and RAM. It is normal that all RAM to use. Please read the section of memory to use the activity monitor to your Mac - Apple Support.

  • Free space on hard drive for HP PROBOOK 450 G0 - H0U95EA

    Hello

I'm looking for a laptopo HP, I would like to know the free space on hard drive for HP PROBOOK 450 G0 - H0U95EA.

In the datasheet there are 750GB but in a boutique internet... I found that free space is that of 320 GB, is it good?

    Thank you!

    Marco

More new software installs would more or less 60 gigs and a 750 GB drive reads as on 690 concerts in Windows Explorer. There will be a recovery partition and system partition that could take up to another 20 GB or more. Free space out of the box is still more than 575 casual jobs. That will decrease as games for Windows restore points.

  • Waste of space on hard drive

My pavilion 734. UK Windows XP failed to restart after a set windows to update recently. Finally, I hit F10 on the hp splash screen and recovered the system, with a few necessary subsequent update. I find now that I can't recharge my photos and other files that the remaining disk space has reduced to almost nothing. The hard drive is a nominal 80 GB and the last time I remember to check before the reboot fails was less than half full.  Auditor of Western digital disk tells me that it is in good condition. I can find 88000 files using Go 33 - hidden files included. However, the computer thinks I have used f. 70 restore points have been reduced to one and run Disk Cleanup. Can someone help me understand why I can't access the 'missing' 37 GB?

  • Satellite L755-154: waste of space of HARD drive due to the second partition

    Hello

I bought this laptop so far everything goes well.
However, there seems to be 2 partitions on it, the first is the C: drive that is around 300 GB, but the 2nd partition D: which is again about 300 GB, which has only the recovery drive?

This seems to be a waste of hard drive space, because I bought it because it had a good-sized hard drive.
Now, my question is that I have to make a record of this partition recovery, and then re - format both drives and install everything from scratch?

Also, the recovery disc has all the drivers for all components of the laptop, as well as Windows 7?
As I bought this form Amazon no windows disk or recovery disk was provided, only the windows 7 serial number.

    Thank you

    > Now, my question is what I need to do a recovery from that partition, then re disc - format both drives and install everything from scratch?

In General, you should always create a recovery disk.
If you have created a recovery disc then this disk will help you set the laptop back to factory settings. This means that all the HARD disk should be formatted and would once again create all partitions. This means that you will get these two partitions again.

If you want to move the free space in partition D to C, then you will need to use a software of partitions. I use GParted its great tool

    > Also the recovery disc has all the drivers for all components of the laptop, and Windows 7
    Yes

    > As I bought this form Amazon no windows disk or recovery disk was provided, only the windows 7 serial number.
See above, that you create this recovery disk!

    Hello

I have Satellite L500-1EK. I have 2 partitions on my HARD drive. second partition where windows isn't complete comlplete. The size is 150 GB. I deleted all my files, emptied bin, run scandisk, defragmented, ran external cleaning tools but no effect. Disk is always full (window said that 15 MB of space is free). Windows recovery is only enabled on the first partition. In the second partition of the problem, he has record of recovery toshiba who have about 6 GB and some hide the files with a size of 30 KB.

Enyone came with this problem? Thank you

    Hello

1 delete all the files and unnecessary programs from the disk: C to the freed space.
    2 get all the movies, music, photo on the 2nd partition;

  • Space free hard drive

So I have a question that has been so annoying for... months. It's pretty stupid I guess but... anyway.

I really wanted to see what eats my hard drive, so... i opened C: and verified through properties of disk space each folder is using. And those who were the results

    Windows: 20.5 Gb

    Users: 68.3 Gb

    Program Files: 46.5 Gb

Intel, NVidia, ProgramDat (and the rest of the C files): 2.3 GB

HOWEVER when I check the properties c: it seems that I have 173 GB used space and 104 GB of free space. Thus, rather than 137,4(=10.5+68.3+46.5+2.3) space used, windows see I have 173 GB used space!

So, Miss me 35 Gbs? I emptied the recycling bin, and nothing has changed. Where are the Gbs?

    Hi KostasG87,

I understand that your computer seems to run out of disk space hard even if it is not in use.

    1. Have you run Disk Cleanup to delete temporary files?
    2. Have you tried other troubleshooting procedures?

I would like you to run Disk Cleanup to check if it is to the top of the space.

In addition, run a virus scan to check if there is something to do with a virus attack. You can run the Microsoft Safety Scanner to check the same.

I hope this helps. You can meet us with the status if it is not enough.

    Thank you!

  • Free space on hard drive shown incorrectly

My drive C (SW_Preload) has about 200 GB of space. When I click on 'Computer' in windows Explorer, it says that the total free space is 20 GB of used space 180 GB IE. However, when I select all folders and files on my C drive and select properties it shows the total size on disk is only 70 GB. I don't have this with the other readers (Lenovo and SERVICEV003).

Does anyone know why this is so? My basket is empty and runnign short space when I know that there is still plenty of space on the drive (the laptop is only 3 months and I copied only 1-2 records this to that).

    Hello Hitchkee,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft answers forums for Windows Vista. I hope you do well.

To reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space and help your computer run faster, you can use disk cleanup. It removes temporary files, empty the Recycle Bin, and removes a variety of file system and other items that you no longer need. Follow the link below for more details:

    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/1264bc24-72a8-48AA-84e3-a355327139d91033.mspx

There are a number of issues that contribute to the difference:

Hidden and system files -Windows Explorer display above was using the default settings that do not display the files marked as 'hidden' or 'system', and therefore, they are not included in the calculation. Change this setting increases the "size on disk" by about 7 gigabytes that all the hidden files on my machine have been included in the calculation. In particular, which included the system pagefile and hibernation, which are large file and marked as hidden.

To change the settings, you can follow the steps below:

    Start Windows Explorer, and then:
    Click on the Tools menu
Click the folder menu item Options...
    Click the view tab
In the advanced settings list, scroll down until you see the hidden files and folders and Hide protected operating system files.
Make sure that the hidden files and folders is selected. I also uncheck Hide operating system files - for the same reason protected: I don't want to hide it from me, the Windows files.

Directories - directories, or lists and indexes of files on your machine are not the files themselves, but they don't take place.

The Table of Allocation of file or the master file Table - FAT itself, Hall of Fame of FAT file system, is actually pretty low. The MFT, however, used in NTFS file systems is also stored on the disk but not visible as a file. It defines where the used and free space on a drive is actually. Depending on the size of your drive, your files and the size of the allocation unit, the MFT can be quite large.

The log file - this is a file, but even once, you won't see it. It's NTFS internal data.

    Hope this information is useful.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite C872D - lack area of HARD drive recovery

    Hello

When I want to Toshiba Recovery Media Creator allows you to create recovery DVDs I have an error message:

No HDD Recovery area! Toshiba Recovery cannot be enabled.
    What should I do?

    That's big problem now.
Generally each laptop comes with preinstalled operating system contains the original recovery saved on the HARD disk image.

For some reason any pre-installed recovery disc creator Toshiba cannot find and access the recovery image. I don't know why this is happening on your laptop, but it can happen if the recovery image is deleted, moved to another location or structure partitions of HARD drive has been changed.

What can you do now? Nothing. All you can do now is to order the original restore disc and use it to install the original image of recovery designed for your laptop model.

You can order on - https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • HP Envy h8 - 1400z: lack the 2nd hard drive after windows update

Discount Windows 8 for us solve a problem.  Before the update, I had two drives of 1 TB.  The first hard drive was for the OS C: and D: for the recovery partition.  The second disc has a partition called E: and has been used for data.

After the update, I still have my partitions C: and D: as before on my first hard drive.   However, no D:.  Using disk management, the first hard disk is visible and it has C: and D:, as well as a few other partitions I do not recognize but appear to be associated with the update. Disk management does not show the second hard drive.

Starting in UEFI shows the 2nd disc and it is recognized as a 1 TB drive and I have no reason to believe that the drive has failed.

Did some research and see that others have lost a partition during the refresh, but the road is still visible in disk management.   Their problem is resolved by assigning a drive letter.  However, this does not work for me because the operating system does not see the drive.

Is it possible that refresh changed my disks in raid 1?  How I check that?  Other thoughts on how I can get my drive back?

    Thanks for any help!

    Hi there @AVperson

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that after a cooling a HDD is no longer appears in disk management. I'm happy to help you.

Since it does not appear in the BIOS but not in the operating system, let me start with a few BIOS tests on two hard drives. In fact, I suggest doing all the tests of material.

I see no reason for a system spontaneously create a RAID where there were none before. If the system was a RAID on the second drive would be a mirror of the first, and it must always appear in disk management.

After testing the system, you can always try remove the second disc and test it using a disk external drive bay on another device and see if it is readable.

Let me know what you find.
