abbreviate the month using find replace

I need to change the month in my document to their abbreviation and have something that works, but I can see him stumble on some words.

Let me explain.

Here's my search string

(? < =) let alone | (? < =) pay | ( ? < =) TEU. (? < =) ember | (? < =) ober | (? < =) ember

I have replace it with

.    <-note space after the period

why I worry, is that words like "lust" or "burn" will be in the document. they complete the same in August and will be replaced by l. or com.

or

"remember" the same as September ends then it would become rem.

or

sober will become art. because my search string finds all the characters followed in ober

How can I fine tune elsewhere so that it is only August, September etc.

You can always do with a single click using a 12-part 'or' statement positive look-behind abbreviation for each month, then replace by your time and space. That's exactly what you do now, but you explicitly list Jan, Feb, etc in your butt look.

I looked in the search/replace option, but could not find a way to do over there. I use CS6 if it matters.

It does however find/replace, but maybe the script though. Ask above in InDesign Scripting

  • Using find/replace

Is it possible to use the search/replace on an array of text feature?  For example, I want to search my document for any type of [Text1, Text2, Rem3 Rem4] and change the style of paragraph on this text.  I know I could create 4 different searches, but since they all change the same paragraph style, it would be much easier to just use a.  Thanks for any help.

Yes, if you have InCopy CS3 or CS4, you can use GREP find/replace to do what you want.

    1. Discover all the stories, then you can find/replace
    2. Edition > find/change, GREP tab
    3. In find it this field, enter "text 1 | Text 2 | Text 3 "(sans les guillemets)." The vertical bar character means 'or '.
    4. Let the change to the empty field
    5. Click the button change in format at the bottom and select the name of your paragraph Style in the first Panel of Options of Style
    6. Run a search/replace to test

    hope that helps!

  • Using find/replace in projects

I maintain several RoboHELP HTML projects, and I have a global Edition (global sense in all projects, not one).

Is there a way to have driving HR a find/replace in several projects so that I don't have to open each one?

    Thank you

    Jim

    Hi Jim,.
    A few thoughts on this...
I used only the multi-fichiers find and replace facilities HR and experience with this I would be cautious as only see you the mode code and are to some extent "flying blind".

Second thing, if find you a search and replace method that you like, perhaps consider replacing elements with variables that can be more easily updated when the inevitable next time comes...

  • Using find/replace to find empty cells in a table

I'm working on several catalogues pages where we apply styles of our catalogues. The find/replace feature really helped do, but I can't seem to find a way to find an empty cell in a table to add a style to only the cells that are empty. If someone knows a way to do this, saving me a bunch of times and I would be very grateful!

    Hello

With GREP, this regex can probably help you: (?-m) ^ $

  • GREP with the Javascript vs find/replace dialog box

    InDesign CS4

    Search/replace, GREP tab dialog box

    To find:

    (www: http\:-/-/) ([\w\-\?\=\&]+[\.\/]?) +

This expression finds links pretty well.

When I put in a .jsx file and fire in the actions palette, it does not work.

The following works, but obviously does not correspond to as many hypertext links:

    http\:\/\/([\w\-\]+[\.\/]?) +

    as in

    ([app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = ' http\:\/\/([\w\-\]+[\.\/]?) +';

I tried to add?,-?, and? but it bombards the - no match.

Same with initial either / or between http as the beginning of the pattern and www.

I wonder if a grep javascript guru could give me a clue as to how to translate it?

    Thank you.

    Hey!

Definition of GREP via JavaScript needs to use to escape. If your GREP in JS expression would look like this:

    app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = "(www|http\\:\\/\\/)([\\w\\-\\?\\=\\&]+[\\.\/]?)+";

    Hope that helps.

  • OBIEE 11 g: how to find the 2nd Friday of the month

    Hello

How to find the 2nd Friday of the month using the current date in obiee 11g.

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

    MIT.

    Hey MIT,

You can try with something like this:

    TIMESTAMPADD (SQL_TSI_DAY, TIMESTAMPADD (7 + 6-DAYOFWEEK (TIMESTAMPADD (SQL_TSI_DAY, 1-DAYOFMONTH (CURRENT_DATE), CURRENT_DATE))), (SQL_TSI_DAY, 1-DAYOFMONTH (CURRENT_DATE), CURRENT_DATE))

It can still be improved to probably avoid transformations 1-2, but at least he does.

You will need to check what return DAYOFWEEK in your environment for Friday (in mine Friday = 6) as if she does not return to Friday 6, you will need to adjust the formula.

The idea is to find what day is the first day of the month, since then visit the first Friday (or just stay there if the first day is a Friday). This is done by the DAYOFWEEK 6 (first day of the month).

And now, you just add more 7 days, so that's why there is a 7 + 6 - DAYOFWEEK (first day of the month) to make it easier to read and understand (instead of 13-...).

  • Select a specific area to convert a tab using GREP or find/replace

    Hello

I'm working on a very long list that always has a space to be converted to a tab. No one knows how quickly using find/replace or GREP?

    Example:

2068 characteristics of fallers vs Non-abatteurs in individuals receiving Services in a hospital-based home health agency: case report

The space after the 4 digits must be converted into a tab. I have hundreds of them to do, always a space after 4 figures to be a tab.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you!

Enter in the search field: ^ (\d{4})# (replace ' #' with a space!))

    Replace with this: $1\t

  • Find/replace for text formatting

    Hi guys,.

How to use find/replace for text formatting changes? I would like to change a text of entire book to try an another typographical options. The book is currently typed in text of Lyon. The problem is when I change to Sabon will make it overides the italics and the word "BOLD".

    I tried to find/display

    Search

    Lyon text regular italic

    Change

    Sabon italic

    Captura de pantalla 2015-02-18 a la(s) 10.17.19.png

but it does not work. Most of the text of this book is not formatted with the character to italic Style, for example, just a paragraph Style General to make it easier to work with.

What I am doing wrong? Any help or ideas?

    Thank you!

All of the text has a paragraph style that applies the formatting of basis for the whole paragraph. ALL text that deviates from the General formatting of the paragraph should have a style of character applied somehow, either directly, or as a nested or style GREP, which overrides the formatting of paragraph and gives what you want. The paragraph styles that do not change the font family are much more useful, for example a style that just changing the text in italics, as they continue to work when you change the font family of the paragraph style in the basic text format section.

Character styles are used ONLY to change the part of the text in a paragraph. If the paragraph has the same formatting, it should have a paragraph set for this format style.

  • 'Wild card' in find/replace changes 'any number' to ' ^ 9' instead of leaving as is.

During a search, find/replace in indd, using the generic specification for any number (^ 9), I would have thought the change would leave the numbers in their original state but it change them all to ' ^ 9' - how can I find a large document and remove all values in dollars using find/replace - e.g. AUD 3 234 to 3234 AUD?

Given that you have at least InDesign CS3, use GREP to search instead of text search:

    Search: AUD (\d+)\h(\d\d\d)

    Change from: AUD $1$ 2

Or probably even better, change to: $1, $2 ~.<>

$1 and $2 rely on the conclusions of the first and the second parenthesis.

    ~< adds="" a="" thin="" space="" between="" last="" number="" and="" currency="">

  • Strange problem with find/replace

I'll have a little strange problem with find/change in InDesign CS4 Mac.

The document is a data merge.  In the worksheet, there are two fields that contain either a '@' or a '&', depending on the context.  These are just placeholders - the plan was to convert glyphs of the police 'Wingdings 2' after creating the merged document.  We do it this way because we couldn't figure out how to get the glyphs themselves in the .csv file.  Two glyphs are < FO54 > and < FO56 >.

First I used find/replace to change all the '@' symbols to < FO54 >.  That has worked well. But then when I tried to change the symbols "&" < FO56 >, I got the < FO54 > again instead.  In fact, now I ask what glyph, I get < FO54 >.  Find/replace always normally works for normal text... it of just that he seems to have decided that if I ask a glyph, I get < FO54 >, anything.

I tried to shut down and restart, but the bug is still there.

    Any thoughts?

I used the tabs of glyphs in find/replace when I tested it, but what you describe seems to work as well.

  • Find/replace with notes

Hi all. I'm in CS3 and trying to use find/replace to put periods after the reference numbers and keep the tab after the numbers in place. However, I can FIND the reference number and the tab, but I can't find/replace to add a delay between the two without obliterating the reference number. Any help? I'm going slightly mental.

    Hello

Why not add a period of Separator in the note Options dialog box?

Type > Options Document reference > numbering and formatting tab > separator

  • Find/replace does not

    I'm on a Mac using 10.5.7 with Indesign Cs4

I have a very big book, I'm working on and need to change a text header. When I use "Find/replace" he say "cannot find Match". I am looking for the document and decided to use a common word and I still get the same results. Any help would be appreciated as it is driving me crazy.

It of just a hunch, but do you have anything in the box 'Find Format'?

  • How can I Print "Find/replace" results?

I use "find/replace" to locate all JPEG files currently used within a site.  How can I print the search results. Tróchez and paste does not work it would be useful to print the result, because they can number in the hundreds for the largest sites... Write the results is a real pain.

The only solution I can think would be open to the top your search results Panel completely and do a Screengrab with screen printing, SnagIt or wisdom-Soft Screen Hunter Pro.

  • How to change the highlight color 'find '.

I use Dreamweaver CS4 and when I use the 'Search' function to search for something in the source code it highlights the text found with a very light gray background (background color for source code is white).  Is it possible to change the highlight color gray to something else that I often struggle to locate in the source code window, which has been found.  I would like to make a lighter color is no longer perceptible.  I searched through all of the preference settings and can't seem to find a setting for this.  Is this one?

    Thanks for the help!

    Tom

I'm sorry, I think that you post in the wrong forum.

The issue in this case relates to the color used by Dreamweaver to highlight the code after using the built in find & replace tool.

In Dreamweaver CC 2015, the code highlighting color is editable by the user under Edit > Preferences > Code coloring > background selection
