Ability to create PDFs of scan disappeared

Reader update yesterday (April 13, 2016) and the ability to create a PDF file from a scan has disappeared.

I use this function several times a day all the time.

I checked every item of menu possible, the tool and the preference, and there isn't.

If it can someone please tell me how to access? Thank you.

Hi seanc19320170 ,

Would like to inform that this feature is not available in Acrobat Pro (paid Version) in Acrobat Reader (free Version)

Please make sure that you use Acrobat pro so that you can access this option, as the reader is only for the display of PDF

Kind regards

Christian

I do not understand the basic of Acrobat workflow.  When I first create a pdf file, I can type away as if I was with a word processor.  But as soon as I save the file, close acrobat and reload the file the next day for some reason any I can no longer type or edit any text.  What gives?  All I want to do is to continue to create the pdf file.  It's almost as if once you close a pdf file then become etched in stone as the Code of Hammurabi.  I want to just pick up where I left off.  I tried searching the forums and found a post that says: «do not change the file pdf.»  Find the original file and change this. "What is the original file?  I saved it as a pdf. Funny post but I'm sure that it's not funny for you.

The reason that you saw mentioned to change the original is that, as the code of Hammurabi, PDF is supposed to be a final product. Acrobat was never intended for a page layout or word processing application. It is intended to give you the ability to create PDF files from your applications so that people without apps can view and print the way you intended.

The new Acrobat gives you an option to create a new file and do a few simple typo but, there a lot to debut and again, it was never intended to replace a publishing computer or word processing application.

  • creating PDFs with windows fax and scan

How can I create PDF files with Windows Fax and Scan using Windows 7 Home Prem?   The only way to create a document with multiple pages is by selecting a type of tiff file.

    Hi Ken King1961,

You cannot create a PDF using Windows Fax and Scan.

You will need to use a third party program to create PDF files. Use your favorite search engine to locate the PDF creators.

  • ability to create multiple PDFs from links?

Acrobat Pro X, is there a way to apply the option 'create pdf file of the link' several links on the same website at the same time? Thank you

About the closest you can get is to use tools > Document Processing > Web Capture > add all links on the page control, which will go through the links and add to your existing PDF that has been captured from a web site.

  • Create PDFs on iPad

    Hello

I would recommend to someone who is not controlling enough English and wish to send e-mails in his iPad, in PDF version, to allow the recipient to open the mail and to be able to read the contents of a computer that does not have the ability to have other languages.

I have an iPad I'appreciate then the instructions:

-How to create a PDF files on iPad and is it serious on what processor, it is created.

-How to transfer the created PDF in the form of mail.

-When this PDF file is located on the iPad, so, it would be possible that someone creates an e-mail message to attach this file to send by post.

Thanks in advance for any help

Pages from Apple app will allow you to save documents as pdf files and you can send them an email directly from the application itself.

Create the document, and then press the action/action icon (the square with him pointing up arrow) and select send a copy. In the next window, select the PDF file for the format. The choose how to send the options window, tap on the icon of mail.

  • Create PDFs from MS Word documents with DWG files embedded

Using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, I regularly create PDF documents from MS Word documents with AutoCAD DWG files embedded.  If I print to PDF it is well with integrated designs but if I use the plugin Acrobat text in the drawings would then become too light to see in the created PDF file.  I need to be able to convert to PDF format rather than print them in PDF format in order to have the bookmarks and links created automatically.  What parameters control the darkness of drawings ACAD contained in MS Word files when they are converted to PDF files?

Here are some screenshots from the built-in drawings prints/changed:

    Printed to PDF.JPG

    Convert:

    Converted to PDF.JPG

This problem was caused by the use of dynamic blocks with several line colors and thicknesses in the original DWG files.  They were used to allow the quick creation of drawings in AutoCAD for several different components that share similar attributes.  Unfortunately when these drawings are incorporated in MS Word or PDF files is created directly from these drawings, items in the drawing would randomly disappear when a PDF file created from them.  The solution is to open each offending in AutoCAD DWG file, move everything to layer zero and set the thickness of the text elements.

  • Create pdf from scanner option not appearing is not in adobe reader DC. Can anyone help?

I don't see the "create a pdf from a scanner" option in adobe reader DC. I have an option to create a PDF Online and then the next page offers a lot more options (pdf export, pdf, edit, comment, fill and sign, sent for signature, send & track) but not the real option I want. Ironically, it worked quite perfectly yesterday with nitro 9 (pre-installed on my computer Lenovo) I uninstalled as I prefer adobe! Now I can print PDFs already saved on my printer (communication is apparently possible between adobe and my printer), but I can't create a PDF of my scanner. My operating system is windows 8.1 and my printer/scanner/copier is a Dell 2335 (no color). Y at - it something I am doing wrong or do I downloaded the adobe version to enable the option "create a pdf from a scanner? Any help would be welcome. Thanks AJ

A quick introduction to Adobe products.

Adobe Reader. Free. New name for Adobe Acrobat Reader. Can read a PDF (free). Can create PDF files online (extra charge). Cannot make a PDF from a scanner. Never could.

Adobe Acrobat. Commercial (a cool weather or subscription). Two flavors: Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Standard. CAN create PDF files, including the scanner.

If you had once an Adobe product that could create a PDF from a scanner, you have Adobe Acrobat (not Reader).

Note that many scanners is also equipped with scan-to-PDF software.

  • Cannot create pdf files

I bought a new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit pre-installed.  I installed Acrobat 8.0 Standard program and performed all of the updates for windows and acrobat and everything worked fine.  I could create PDFs both the links and the adobe pdf printer in Office 2007 and IE8.  3 months later, I had to do a factory restore on your computer because of an unrelated issue.  When I reinstalled Acrobat 8, I lost all the features of pdf create.  When I print to the pdf printer, it shows it in the queue and then disappears without creating anything.  When I use Office 2007, create links, it hangs on "pdf creation".  When I click on links in IE8, nothing happens.  Any help would be appreciated.

Upgrade to Acrobat 9. Acrobat 8 is not supported on 64-bit Windows 7.
