Access denied import pst in Outlook 2003 on Windows 7 file

I exported my Outlook files on my external drive, so I could upgrade to windows 7

Windows 7 is installed, and now when I try to re-import the pst files, I get the following message

Access to the file is denied.  You don't have permission to access the file C:\ (then the location of the file)

How can I fix this - other than reinstall XP and throw away windows 7

It's better if repost you your problem/question in the forum of Win7. It is Vista forum.

  • Migrate emails from Outlook 2003 to Windows 7 Live Mail - without using OE6

I upgraded that computer from Vista to Windows 7 64 bit. I have decided to switch from Outlook 2003 to Windows Live Mail, but cannot find a way to export my old mails from Outlook to WinMail. I read it online through Outlook Express 6 as an intermediary, but when I tried, it turns out that you can not install OE6 on a 64-bit computer.

So I am at a loss. How can I move my old mails from Outlook 2003 to WinMail?

You are welcome!  Outlook Express is part of Windows XP, so do not install it.  Here are the highlights:

    1. start Outlook, import the .pst file, quit Outlook.
    2. start Outlook Express, import messages from Outlook, close Outlook Express.
    3. copy the Outlook Express store folder in Windows 7.  To find its location, click Tools > Options > maintenance > store folder .
    4. start Windows Live Mail, import messages from the Outlook Express store folder.

I think that this will pick up all accounts.

After posting here, you may want to consider trying this...

Open Windows Live Mail > at the bottom left, click on the Contacts button > in the Contacts window, click file > import > click on Microsoft Office Outlook address book > the rest is self-explanatory.

I use Outlook 2003 on my desktop computer. I just bought a laptop with Vista and WLM. I would like to be able to access all of my emails from a computer on my home wireless network. I can do this and if so, how?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

You need Outlook to access the data file, and as configeration is not supported on a network, we recommend not to do

  • Get the "Access denied" error when you try to play all video files in another folder on my external hard drive.

A couple of days, I've had accidentally one of the folders slipped on my hard drive in the folder above him and was presented with the "Access denied" error messages when I tried the two a) reglisser it out & b) open it from the record she had been driven to (which was not a folder of my making that is a jibberish titled folder containing two .vdm files it contains first)

After receiving advice of a friend, I did a restore from safe mode on the eve of the day when he moved and he did bring him back with all the files and files in the right place, but now I'm getting an access denied for each file, I try to play. Whether Real Player, Windows Media Player etc none will play.

Just to test, I slipped a .avi file in the folder to see if he was going to play and he did it can be the folder settings, I'm just hoping that all these files are now not corrupted and unplayable as I have some 180 GB of data in this folder in more than 1000 files.

    Any help is very appreciated.
    Kind regards

    Hey HRolston,

What version/service pack of XP are you using?

What format of your hard drive is formatted to?

You can check the version/service pack:

    ·         Click Start

    ·         Right click my computer

    ·         Click on Properties

    ·         On the general tab, under System: you will see your information

For example: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 3

You can check what is the format of your hard drive is:

    ·         Click Start

    ·         Click on my computer

    ·         Right click on Local disk (c) (or letter that contains your operating system)

    ·         Click on Properties

    ·         On the general tab, next to file system: you will see the format of your hard drive (Fat32 or NTFS)

Can't wait to hear back on your part.

  • Access denied when you try to edit the C: program files / drive

I'm trying to use PHP on my computer. By following the instructions during the installation an 'access denied' pop up appears whenever I try to save changes

    Hi JlaHills,

Make sure that you are logged as administrator and check if you are faced with the question.

Try to take possession of a disc and check whether the problem is resolved.

To take ownership of a drive:

    1. click on the drive that you want to take control and then click Properties.
    2. click on the Security tab, click Advanced, and then click the owner tab.
    3. click on modify.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    4. click on the name of the person you want to give to the property.
    5. If you want this person to be the owner of the files and subfolders in this folder, select the Replace owner of subcontainers and objects to check.
    6. click on OK.

If this does not work, I suggest you to activate the administrator account built in and check if it works.

An administrator account is a user account which allows you to make changes that will affect other users. Administrators can change security settings, install software and hardware, and access all files on the computer. Administrators can also make changes to other user accounts.

If you are logged in as administrator, then I suggest you turn on the built in user account and check if it works.

In Windows Vista, the built-in Administrator account is disabled by default. In previous versions of Windows, an administrator account was created automatically during Out-of-Box-Experience (OOBE) with a blank password.

An account administrator with a blank password is a security risk. To better protect the system, the built-in Administrator account is disabled by default in all new installations and upgrades of Windows Vista.

  • Import messages from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail Inbox

I can't import my Inbox of Outlook Express to WIndows Live Mail.  I saved my OE Inbox to a file .csv to a flash drive.   I then copied the file from my desktop flash player.   I open Live Mail, import, Microsoft Outlook express and stressed the desktop icon of the file.   I get an error that no message is available.  What I am doing wrong?

Contacts can be saved on one. CSV, no messages file.
OE contacts are stored in a .wab file. You can import this (or a CSV file)
in WLM. Just open WLM, open Contacts, do a file-import-etc.

Your messages in OE are already stored in .dbx files. Copy all the .dbx
files on the XP computer in a temporary folder on the Windows 7 computer.
Be sure to include the folders.dbx file.

then open WLM and don't file - import - etc.

  • Import contacts from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail

I just bought a new Dell computer and it has Windows 7.  My old computer has Windows XP.  Can I import my list of contacts from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail and, if so, how can I go about it?

I selected files, folders and search under the heading Windows as I couldn't see Windows Live Mail in the list of topics.

    Thank you.

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

For WLMail 2009: Open list of Contacts in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

For WLMail 2011: Switch to the contacts window (click on the book icon to the address at the foot of the folders pane, or press Ctrl-3). Click on the import button, select address book (wab) Windows and point on where it was saved.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

  • Can't access the c: drive, error 'access denied '. Problems began after refresh of Windows 8

Original title: problems after update of windows 8

    Hello

I have windows 8 sony vaio laptop

day before yesterday I had an error at startup of windows saying CRITICAL_SYSTEM_DIED. I ran windows update since the auto repair could not help me.

After that I am not able to use my c: drive, it says access denied. It seems that I hv has lost control over my account. It's always an administrator account, but I am not able to use it as an administrator.

    Please help quickly. Urgent!

    Hi Angel,

For a better understanding of the issue, I would need more information on your side.

1 having you only access c: drive?

    2. What is the full error message?

This problem could occur due to these reasons.

    1. Because of permission problem.
    2. Corrupt system files.

Try the steps listed here and see if it helps.

    Method 1:
I suggest to run the (SFC) System File Checker tool and check if this solves the problem. SFC scan would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.

How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows:

    Method 2:
I suggest you try the steps in the section 1st: I get an "Access denied" error message when accessing or working with files and folders in the article and see if that can help.
"Access denied" or other errors in the access to or work with files and folders in Windows

Hope this information helps. Answer the post with an up-to-date issue report to help you further.

  • Sync Palm Treo 680 unlocked with Outlook 2003 on Windows 7

After that 2 full install and reinstall Palm 6.2 I can't synchronize my Outlook 2003 and the Palm Treo 680

HotSync log says it all correctly synchronized but new meetings and tasks turns into a single platform do not appear on the other platform.

There is an error mentioned for the PmTrcae database file (Protocol error 4004)

I should mention that the installation process seems to drop after announcing that first HotSync will be carried out, he never does, I had to manually start from the Treo.

Will there be a proper version of Windows 7 released?

  • Access denied ("java.util.PropertyPermission" "user.timezone', 'writing') [WINDOWS 7 64 bit]

    Hello

that we got on several computers, the error message

    access denied (java.util.PropertyPermission""user.timezone', 'write')

When we try to open an internal Web site. Until today, that everything worked well.

An update of Java for windows 7 64, Version 7 45 update does not resolve the problem.

I tried to set the Java security permissions in the control panel to the Middle, but it also did not work after this change.

We also got this problem on another computer when you try to open an external site that also use the Java.

Someone has any idea how to solve this problem?

    Hi guys.

I solved the problem by adding a rule to the following file

    $JAVA_HOME\lib\security\java.policy

    grant {}

    ...

    permission java.util.PropertyPermission "user.timezone", "write";

    };

After that I killed the java process and rebooted. The problem disappeared

  • Access denied message in DW when saving changes to a file

I have problems with the registration of the changes in a previous file in DW CS5.  My files are located on an external drive, have always been.  I use a new pc (WIN 7) and the drive is connected.  I can open the files and change them very well, but I can't save them.  I get ACCESS DENIED.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening and how I can go back to save my changes?

Well, I feel kind of silly, but I thought about it.  It is essentially a question of organization.  I went into the SITE, click MANAGE SITES and then DELETED the folder and he ADDED once again.  Works fine now.  Before, the reason for which I had the question was because I skip the step of 'MANAGE the SITE' and just access my files from the FILES under WINDOWS tab.  Although this method has allowed me to open the files and change them, it would not allow me to save.  HOPE THAT THIS HELPS someone someday.

Thanks for trying to help me Ken.  I appreciate it!
