Access XPcomputers in the same workgroup

I have a question on the working group.   I have a couple of computers in the same workgroup at home and each computer does not have the user passwords.  These computers in the same workgroup can access all files (even files that are not marked as shared) on the other computer?   Or only implemented as shared files are accessible from the other computer? (this is what I was thinking all these years)

I read the article on the Windows Help section working group and said "to connect to any computer in the workgroup, you must have an account on this computer" are they talking to access shared folders?  or does this mean that I can access all the files that are not shared from one computer to another, it's just because they are in the same workgroup?                                   I've never had password for my user account, so Im concerned a little about the functioning of the working group.

This is probably a silly question, but I would really appreciate if anyone can answer me.

Hello

When the computers are on the same network they have the potential to access each other.

What will be allowed access to the depends on how file sharing is configured.

That is, 1 computer accesses it permissible on computer 2. Computer 2 will have access only what is allowed on the computer 1.

First step is to make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#trusted
Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

When you have finished the configuration of the system, it is recommended to restart everything the router and all computers involved.

* Note. Some of the processes described above are made sake not for Windows, but to compensate for different routers and how their firmware works and stores information about computers that are networked.

I have a few Ajax in a test program that is accessing a local file. It worked well until I updated to Firefox 10. 10 Firefox blocks access to local files, even if they have the same source location? Chrome has this problem but I can overcome it by launching Chrome with the "-disable-web-security" option. Is there a similar to Firefox 10 option?

  • Error message 0 x 80004005 Unspecified error trying to connect to either network drives and printers network on the same network or network drives that are on the same workgroup.

Essentially, this problem started last Friday and I tried all possible combinations and the thing that I know so far about how to solve this problem and I terribly need a solution because I use this laptop in a University to take notes and print them out / store them on the network. Right now I can ping both servers (one is a print server and the other server network file storage), but in both cases, when I try to connect to them using windows Explorer by the name of \\server name\share or \\printserver\ (the other usually allows me to see a table of printers that are in different locations and I choose who I connected to my laptop). The other method, I have tried to use, which works normally and does not now to map the network drive storage is the net use command, if I try this method, I will get a "system error 1231 has occurred the network location cannot be reached". The third method (which is more commonly used I think) is the ability to connect a network drive in Windows Explorer, usually if I use the third method, I get a response from the storage server file asking for user credentials, now I get the same error message as when I try to connect with the first method of.

The biggest mystery of this all is that this happens regardless if I'm on the wired or wireless, and in both scenarios, I have access to the internet available, but as mentioned above, no access to storage or a network printer.

    * Use at your own risk, but it worked in my case (ensure you know / remember passwords field before doing so).

If (since) you are using Windows 7 and you suddenly have problems connecting to a resource of the area (especially after a password reset):

    1) go to:->-> advanced user accounts manage user accounts-> manage passwords

    (2) If you see Windows credentials, delete them all.

  • A Site to remote access VPN behind the same public IP address

Got a problem quite stupid.  We have a VPN from Site to Site configured for a new data center, which will be responsible for general traffic management.  In addition, some users need to use use a VPN client to access certain areas.  The firewall at the Office only has a public IP address, so the two will come to the Site to Site VPN for remote access from the same source.

    Hello

Don't know if this will work, but you can try the following configuration (with the rest of the VPN configuration)

list-access CLIENT VPN ip enable any 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0

card crypto OUTSIDE_map 4 is the VPN CLIENT address

    card crypto OUTSIDE_map 4 set ikev1 transform-set ESP-AES-128-SHA ESP-3DES-SHA

The idea would be to have the ACL matches the VPN full Tunnel that the Client attempts to establish. (destination "any" from the point of view of the customer, the ASAs view source)

I tested briefly on my own SAA by connecting from an IP address to which the ASA offers free VPN in L2L. But as I don't have the operational L2L VPN, I can't really verify the VPN L2L at the moment. Thus, certain risks may be involved if you can afford it.

  • ThinApp - I can't install Excel 2003 and Access 2003 on the same machine

    Hi all

I have a problem and I can not solve. I have two packages of creatud:

    • Excel 2003
    • Access 2003

When I install a package, it's the work of weel but when I try to install the second, I got this error message:

A version identical or newer Microsoft Office Access 2003 (VMware ThinApp) is already installed

Can you help me please ?

    Miluge

The reason for the same GUID (MSIPackagecode, MSIUpgradecode) is the capture of the individual components of a single configuration. In your case, you could have captured Access 2003 and Excel 2003 in a single Office 2003 configuration. Thus, ThinApp share the same GUID of the original configuration.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    1. open one of the package.ini and uncomment the code MSIProductCode and MSIUpgrade (by removing ';' at the beginning)

    2. change code both MSIPackagecode and MSIUpgrade for this package. You can do it by changing just a single bit in the 32-bit key.

For example, if your GUID looks like below,

    MSIProductCode = {2DF388F8-535F-6909-DBBA-288792F19500}

    MSIUpgradeCode = {0B400927-A236-B536-B00A-8961831A298F}
You can change the values as below. Here I changed only the last piece

    MSIProductCode = {2DF388F8-535F-6909-DBBA-288792F19501}

    MSIUpgradeCode = {0B 400927 - A236 - B536 - B00A - 8961831A 298G}

    3. rebuild the package and test it. It should work now.

  • More then a user accessing virtual at the same time

    Hi all

I have install Server2.0 for test and I must say that the web interface is a pretty cool idea. The main idea is to use the test environment 2.0 ina, which means that users will not be permanently connected to the virtual machine, but must be there they would go on some virtual OS that is not available in physical machines.

The test I did was to install 2.0 in a DC 2003 server. Even if he told me that it wasn't good option to install on DC I went come just for test purposes. Everything works very well. I created a user and given the permitions restricted in order just to use the VM and not apply the changes to this.

Then I added 2 virtual machines and I started one and start using it... Can I access the server 2.0 from somewhere else on the network and having the same user (or even with the diferent user) I started the machine VM for Sami. Now I have 2 users, access to the vmimage from different places and now the problem, is that both control the same vm in the same session... which means that I can't have 2 users working in the same image at the same time.

On the gmx those who can't... I can access the vmconsole (even with the same user) and images (with the same user) access location diferent.

Is it normal to work? Does perform a work around? Anyone with the same problem?

    Kind regards

    L

    Happy to help...

Just give users their own virtual machines - you can grant permissions such that a user cannot access another user.

  • How to access files in the same web application projects?

    Using JDeveloper Studio 11.1.1.1.0

I create a web application that uses the Model-View-Controller design pattern. Model represents the data, the schema represents the data display and controller is control...

In my application, I created two projects: EJBModel and UserInterface. EJBModel contains the aspect of the model, so it has objects and entity beans to access/manipulate data. The UserInterface project stores the web interface - jsps for most. In the UserInterface project, I need a managed bean that calls methods of the beans created in the EJBModel project. I can do this using the @EJB annotation and the creation of an instance of the class, but given that the files are in separate projects that cannot meet and JDeveloper displays an error because it cannot find the necessary file. It is recommended to create two projects that he keeps the two separate elements.

So I wanted to know the best way to access the files stored in separated in the same application projects. Is there a way to pack them together?

    Thank you...

In the UI project, go to properties-> project dependencies and add a dependency on the model project.
This way JDeveloper will know what classes you are referencing.

  • Can access VCSA with the root account, but cannot access vSphere with the same root account

I am able to connect to the VCSA (: 5480) with the created password for root, but I can't log in vSphere (: 9443) with this same root account).  It seems that the password has been correctly set, but weird that I can connect to one and not the other.  I recently improved bed and breakfast ESXi and VCSA version 5.5 Update 2, but don't think that should have an effect on.  Any suggestions?  Help, please.

  • I have 4 computers that all have the same workgroup name (MSHOME) but I don't see one any of them to any of my computers. What I am doing wrong?

I am running XP on all 4 machines.

    [Moved from comments]

From my experience, it is usually caused by an internet firewall on one (or more) of your computers.  If you look in your event logs system (start-> Run-> "eventvwr.msc") on some of you, computers, you see an event ID 8003:

    Event ID: 8003
Description: The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer that believes it is the master browser for the domain of transport . The master browser stops or an election is forced.

Usually, the machine that "believes it is the master browser" is who has the active firewall that is causing the problem.

Microsoft has an article about this problem but does not offer too much detail:

"Internet firewall can prevent browsing and file sharing.

Help this has been driving me crazy

No doubt Section c below or misconfigured or double firewall.

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, it means which allows file sharing / print on the Exceptions tab normally run the XP Network Setup Wizard will take care of this for these machines. The only "witch hunt", it will turn on the Windows Firewall. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus/security with its own firewall component program, then you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Refer to the safety of any third party program or the user forums for how to correctly configure its firewall. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this:

XP - set up Windows to automatically connect (MVP Ramesh) - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm

    D. Si one or more of the computers is XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. XP Home does not share the users directory or the Program Files, but you can share folders inside those directories. A better choice is to simply use the Shared Documents folder.

    F. you have the job of file sharing (and tested by exchanging a file between machines), if you want to share a printer connected locally to one of your computers, share of this machine. Then go to the printer mftr Web site. and download the latest drivers for the correct system. Install them on the target machines. The printer must be collected during the installation procedure. If this isn't the case, install the drivers and then use the Add Printer Wizard. In some cases, printers must be installed as local printers, but it is outside this response.

  • Several Thunderbird in different OS on the same computer to access profile on common logical drive

I installed Windows 8.1 under another OS on a machine who already have Windows 7 (and Thunderbird). The hard disk is partitioned and you Bird profile files are on a different logical drive available to both operating systems having the same name of player.

    I met two problems:

    1. While the new facility to Win 8.1 you Bird sees all mail folders and messages (and can get new messages from the POP3 account, this configuration does not see also within this same profile address books, and)

    2. it does not correctly send SMTP (even with the same account settings.

Regarding the last, I remember working with you Bird and its predecessor as the SMTP password has been set from the first use, but never appeared for editing purposes; the only time wherever he appeared was during the creation of a new source of SMTP. In this case, I don't see where I can re - enter the SMTP password. And, I tried to create a new configuration of SMTP, but it did not help. I have entered the correct password, but it failed. Any ideas on how I can get this set up?

With address books, even if this new facility you Bird knows where the profile (as evidenced by the fact that he doesn't see mail folders and messages), he does not see the address books. Still, I don't see where there is the setting of the location of the address book. I looked for the familiar file that tells the program where to find everything, but I could not find in this new facility to Win 8.1.

Any ideas on these two issues would be greatly appreciated!

I finally found the answer. I was able to display the users folder in Win 8.1. I just copied files of Thunderbird of the Win 7 Users\UserName\AppData\Local Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming files directory and directory to the same location on the 8.1 users folder.

As soon as I did that and restarted my SMTP has been fixed and all address books were available. (And of course, it still works in the world of Win 7, too).

From what I can glean the data in these records communicate key information at the Thunderbird not covered by the option setting for the folder in the program itself.

I don't know if the copy of these records is this 3rd party promise to help with the relocation of existing facilities, but should be.

As a reminder, I try 8.1 win on the same computer as a pre-existing Win7. I wanted to use my same familiar programs, including obviously Thunderbird, with the same configuration and access to the books of mail and same address located on a common additional logical drive.

Copy these files to the new operating system, as well as pointing to the new installation of program to the existing profile of you bird accomplished all of this.
