Adding a vlan to a group of vmnic on a Virtual Switch

Hey guys,.

I got in trouble, adding a vlan to vmnics0-3.  I tried to add a Virtual Machine with the correct ID port group of Vlan.   I also tried adding a VMkernal Port with the Ip address I want in this vlan. But still, the VM on the host can communicate with anything and is not picking up a valid IP address.  Any ideas?

Hi, uplinks that are connected on the switch, set up at the trunk are the VLAN on ports?

    In our area (win server 2008 / r2) the logged on user object on some clients (windows 7) is added to the local administrator group.
    I can't find the reason for this.
    We have configured restricted groups in the strategy group and after gpupdate/force, the user is removed from the group yet (but administrator rights keep until the next logon).
    Affected, it's always only the user who is logged on the client.
    Of course, I checked the logon scripts, nothing that could trigger such behavior.
    Does anyone have an idea how this could happen?

  • How can I assign some VLAN in Virtual switch?

    I have ESX 4.0 installed on two IBM Blade hosts that are in a HA cluster to enable vMotion.  I have a virtual switch created on each host.  Virtual machine connect to the same switch.  I added a new virtual machine to on one VLAN separated.  I have a few "How to"... questions:

    1. How can I put the new virtual machine in an assignment of VLAN different from other virtual machines?  (I think it's through groups of ports but I always read)

    2. can I put several VLANS on the whole virtual switch? (If Yes, what is the snytax? "43; 40 "or"43, 40' or "43-40")

    3. What is the best practice for this kind of Setup?

    Port groups - you're right.  Create a port group, and then assign the virtual machine this connection.

    Yes, you want to create a new port group for each VIRTUAL LAN required in the vSwitch.

    3. What is the best practice for this kind of Setup?

  • Inter vlan routing on a Cisco SF 300-24 port switch only no internet except when scanning with wireshark

    I'm get inter vlan routing to work on a 300-24 ports switch DF.    I have a network of business existing on 192.168.111.0 and want to create a vlan on 192.168.1.1 which can talk to 192.168.111.0.    I activated the layer 3 routing on the switch through the console and also provided ip routing commands. I have the following VIRTUAL networks:

    Vlan1 - default 192.168.111.0

    VLAN2 - 192.168.1.0

    I turned on DNS and provided my two servers DNS 192.168.111.82 & 192.168.111.212.

    I updated the VLAN1 interface 192.168.111.217 and VLAN2 interface 192.168.1.1.

    The FE1 - FE15 ports are access ports and assigned to VLAN1 (unidentified)

    FE16 - FE24 ports are access ports and assigned to VLAN2 (unidentified)

    I put a default route for the switch to 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.111.254 (router Draytek 2600). I have connected a computer (A) at the port of VLAN1 FE3 and a computer (B) to VLAN2 FE16 port.   I put its IP address and computer default gateway has to 192.168.111.217 to 192.168.111.94.    I updated computer B default gateway 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 IP.

    Computer A has access to the Mdaemon Server files via the network grows but no internet (cannot ping google) and can ping computer B and RDP on computer B.

    Computer B can ping computer A and RDP on A computer but do not have access to the company network i.e. MDaemon, file server etc.   It can also access the internet.

    The console I can ping www.google.co.uk and all the ip addresses in the network of the company i.e. 192.168.111.82 (DNS server).   I do not understand what I am doing wrong and have been banging my head for staretd a few days a new job and desperately need to work so any help would be greatly appreciated

    If I have computer scanner a wireshark wirh internet starts working wheird!

    41 - Protocol to deny ALL 192.168.111.0 0.0.0.255-> to 192.168.2.0 0.0.0.255

    40 allow the RDP Protocol TO ALL

    etc.

    To block everything, including MSSQL, with the exception of the RDP and other ports that you defined above.  The other defined are simply not the RDP Protocol and service work?

    I am trying to write a Perl script that can modify the security policy of a group of distributed in a distributed virtual switch ports. I can access the values of security policy by using the following:

    I try to use the method ReconfigureDVPortgroup_Task() of the managed object DistributedVirtualPortGroup. While creating a new instance of DVPortgroupConfigSpec, within the data spec config defaultPortConfig property object there is property of security policy and I couldn't find any other property pointing me to that I can update the security policy. I discovered that it is accessible via defaultPortConfig, stretching from VMwareDVSPortSetting where securityPolicy is a property of VMwareDVSPortSetting.

    What is the way to update? I am bit confused about terminology Extends and extended by and how it relates to the other.

    It is in DVPortgroupConfigSpec, but you will need to use the extended VMwareDVSPortSetting object.

    You could probably simplify this by getting the config spec VGA and change it before using it in the ReconfigureDVPorgroup_Task() method.

  • command line change VLAN ID in virtual switch

    The trunk on our central office switch port has been changed. So now, I can't reach my esx server in virtual center.

    I would like to change the VLAN ID of the service on the virtual switch to 500 console.

    Anyone know which command I should use.

  • Adding table to an existing group

    I am trying to remote installation wizard allows you to add a PS6210x to an existing PS6000 with a PS6210xs group. I have successfully added tables the same group with RSW in the past, but I get an error this time on a bad group password. I logged in with this password manager, so I know that it is correct.

    The new table has firmware 8.1 and tables in the existing group always run 7.1.x. Is it possible that in fact is the problem and I just need to update the old firmware to table first?

    1. you use the user 'grpadmin' to connect to the GroupMgr, but this password may be another. Especially over a long period a customer may change the password for grpadmin but forget to change the GroupPW.

    Within GrpMgmr klick on group-> Member-> Set Password to set a new GroupPW. You don't need to know the old man!

    2. Yes, at the end of the day all members must be at the same level of FW, but this should not be your problem right now.

    We upgade existing members first of all for the course prior to FW, adding new members. We are also new members in a 'maintenance' pool to be sure that no data migration starts automatically.

  • Battery M8024-k (pair) M3048 (pair) battery gal, VLAN and port groups?

    Hi all

    I'm getting more confused by the minute.  I have a pair of M8024-k blade switches in a M1000e enclosure, outside, I have a pair of N3048 switches.

    I think I have the job of stacking on the M8024-k, but I found a configuration guide for Simple mode that says take port 17-20 outside the Group of ports on the pair aggregation and leave the stack ports and internally in the PA Group.  When I do that they remain outside the group, if I do it in the CLI or the GUI.

    Does anyone have a configuration guide that shows how I can pair trunk the 2 together and allow 4 VLAN that I keep coming without access to blade servers inside?  What I get out of simple mode on the M8024-k to achieve?

    Any help gratefully received.

    I would wear the 8024-k off simple mode.

    Console# not simple mode

    On two batteries, you will need to aggregate 4 ports together.  Here is an example to place a port in an aggregation group.

    Console (config) # interface gigabitethernet 0/1/5

    Console (Config-if-1/0/5) # channel-group mode 1 (active / Auto)

    Once the ports are in a channel-group 1, we can then configure the channel group to perform for several VLANs.

    Console (config) # interface port-channel 1

    trunk mode console (config-if-po1) #switchport

    #switchport console (config-if-po1) trunk allowed vlan add 2-150

    This is done, you should have connectivity.

  • Adding Port, Tags and IP groups varies - impact on the VMS?

    We need migration of virtual machines to a different environment due to necessary maintenance SAN.  A colleague in another Department has offered to temporarily move VMs to its environment.  Looking at its systems, we need to add a new group of port, add our range of IP addresses to the NICs and tag his current group of port, because it is without label.  I think that this should not affect its virtual machines that are running in production, but am not 100% sure, so I ask confirmation.  We appreciate his willingness to help and don't want to do anything that would affect its systems.  Thanks in advance for your replies.

    This will depend on a bit of the physical switch, but you can almost certain make the port physical switch carry VLANs marked (called a "trunk" on Cisco devices) and use one untagged VLAN per port, which will be his old trade, known as the vlan "native" of Cisco.

    I would like to know if I add a member to an existing table if I lose all the data on this new Member?

    Found this doc online and I can see that we need to define a new RAID policy so, bad news? I will lose data on my second Member?

    Well the new Member has no data yet, but it will not affect the existing Member.

    When you add a new Member, it gets attached to the default pool.   However, without a RAIDset it does provide no data to the Group again.

    First decide if you want to add this member to the existing or to put it in its own pool.

    Assuming that the existing version is in the default pool and you want to add it to the default pool.

    You must activate all Ethernet iSCSI ports, and then select the RAID type for this member.  There is a box to make the space available immediately.  I prefer not to check that...  This allows the RAIDset fully complete the building before making the space available.   If no data will migrate the existing member until then.

    If you want it in its own pool.  Create the pool, select the new Member and under Member settings, you can select the pool and it will move it there.  Then repeat the above.  Configure the network interfaces, and then select the RAID policy.

    When you add a new Member, you will need the password to 'membership '.   Which may or may be not the same as the GRPADMIN password. When the Group has been set up, he asked first for the password.

  • Error when adding new subnet for CSM group

    I'm trying to add a new subnet to an existing group in the CSM v4.0.1 b7823 company.  When you add a new subnet to the Group (the other elements of the group is a different subnet), CSM emits several errors for each SAA touched:

    Description:

    BB (GROUPNAME), referenced by the 'Http network' on maps (DEVICENAME) device to multiple network IP addresses!

    Cause:

    Made http refers to a network object that corresponds to more than one IP address on the device

    Action:

    Please config the policy with the network object that resolves to a single IP address.

    There is an error for ICMP as well.  The group is already a /24subnet content, I don't think it's a clear mistake.  Has anyone encounter this?

    Hi Justin,

    what you observe is normal given the way in which we have set up the remote access policy. As you probably know, in cli, you can specify only one rule of access by line for ssh, http, telnet etc...

    For example, if you want to allow ssh access to ASA lines host 1.1.1.1 and 2.2.2.2 you put two

    SSH 2.2.2.2 255.255.255.255 outside

    SSH 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.255 outside

    The CSM, we model this two lines as two different object, so the building of network type block object that refers to the object of type ssh access can have only one entry. This behavior is the same for ICMP as well.

    Access list is different because we model to the CSM in a different way, plus you can use the object-group put on different networks. It is not possible to access to the device.

    I hope that gave you an overview a little more on the reason

    Option 2: definition of Group of any download with the new simultaneous addition request

    If you change objects that are sown, future corrections back your changes.

    You will need to download the simultaneous program definitions and the application group, and then load them into the target instance - which means that the levels of EBS patch on source and target texts are identical.

    The other option is to download the definition of competitor program only, the same Uploader in the target, and then manually add the concurrent program in the application group

  • VLANS and virtual switch

    Looking for advice.

    Currently, I have our Vmware 4.0 servers configured with 4 NICs.   vSwitch0 (2 network cards) and vSwitch 1 (2 network cards). Switch 0 to several groups of ports for each vlan I have (on 8 VLAN) switch 1 a the VmKernel for NFS.  It works very well, I have a new server on order and I thought that I have would consider this configuration to make sure that I am maximimzing my performance.

    I get a little confused, it seems that I could create multiple vSwitch with the same NIC 2 and have a group of ports under each of them for the Vlan vs 1 vSwitch and several groups of ports.  If this is incorrect, please correct me.

    Benefits or drawbacks to this?

    If you had 4 network cards and several VLANs using NFS for storage, which would be the best config for performance and failover?

    What happens if I had 6 network interface cards (new server comes up with 6)?
