Additional memory for Dell Precision M4600

Hello people, I need your help once more, my laptop is a Dell Precision M4600, come without webcam, dvd - rom, 2 x 2 GB ram, without fingerprint reader, intel core i5 - 2540M, the memory of two banks in the lower side works fine, two banks of memory under the keyboard come covered, I removed the cover and try to use , but when put memory in this Bank, the laptop does not work, power on but not the video, the witness of hard drive and wifi is turned on and battery is flashing. I am doing wrong?

Thank you in advance.
Daniel.

Hi Daniel,.

Precision M4600 memory configuration is based on the processor. All 4 memory (DIMM) slots will work if the computer has Intel Core i7 Quad Core or i7 Quad Extreme processors.

Only 2 slots DIMM will work in configurations with processors Intel Core i5 or i7 Dual Core. Because your computer has processor i5 - 2540M, only the primary DIMM slots (bottom) can be used.

Please come back for any clarification.

  • How to open the Panel rear Dell Precision M4600

I want to open the back of the Dell Precision M4600 Panel so that I can increase the RAM and also put in a secondary hard drive. There is no documentation or a tutorial for that. Anyone can provide and guide on how to do it? I can't remove the battery, but here I'm lost. I see 2 screws on the back rear panel, but I don't know if it's the right screw to remove.

    Any help is appreciated.

    EDIT: Found the manual!

ADMIN NOTE: broken link has been removed from this post by Dell >

To add to the post of urlnotfound:

Remove the two screws under the battery holding the lid.

Slide, sometimes with a bit of force, the cover backward toward the back of the laptop.  Only, he moves about 1/4 "and is free to raise at this time here.

Note that there is only a single 2.5 "HDD place, and it's the hot-swapable one you see on the side (still to figure out how to remove it, level didn't seem to do anything - for the moment).  "2nd HARD drive" is actually a dedicated slot 'mSATA', which means minicards SATA.  It's a tiny, as the three PCI-express slot you see when you remove the cover.  They are very rare to buy the property.  I really wish that I bought a Dell offered, aftermarket cause they are next to the non-existent.  I found only 2 manufacturers, which are the same brands under the hood.  But they are only the size of 50mm.  I want a site of 70mm slit in the WWLAN PCI-Express slot, cause those are available up to 240 GB.

And FYI, devices with SATA II interfaces mSATA can get up to 240 to 250 MB/s read/write!  No, there are no mSATA SATA III that I could find.  Wanted for a month for them...

Note also that only two senior RAM sticks are available here.  I'm about to call Dell support for where are the othe two DIMM slots (very probably have to remove the background map).

  • Docking station for Dell Precision 7510

I have Dell communities very recently joined after I buy the laptop Dell Precision 7510. It's a great product so far, but I want something better. I want more ports. A cradle to go with it is the obvious solution.

What is the best laptop computer Dell Precision 7510-compatible docking station? My specific needs/setup:

-2 external screens (D - sub / HDMI, or for £50 in addition, connection I get display-port), screens may be more in the future

    -internet cable high speed

    headphone/microphone

-Sockets USB for mouse, keyboard, printer, scanner, external hard drives, etc.

I presume that the Advanced E-port replicator is the best/most appropriate. I just want to be sure of that, because my laptop model (7510 precision) is still very new and not all information everywhere put on compatibility. I don't want to make a costly mistake. I travel and will not be able to "return" the products I buy.

Yes. I contacted Dell sales... service and they told me that the Dell E-Port Plus II is compatible with my 7510 accuracy. After written confirmation, I advanced and bought a British supplier on Amazon for £100... but he came in a suspicious package and did not work well, and the adapter was the size of a brick (literally). I went back to Amazon... and tried my luck with Amazon Germany. You can get the original product on their part for about 140 euros, and it works perfectly. The link to the product:

    http://www.Amazon.co.UK/GP/product/B00A8ESOVA?PSC=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00

(it's actually UK, now that I check it... it's that I bought and it's good)

Basically, Dell has not updated its compatibility information yet. The docking station is listed in the check-out for precision 7510, but does not say specifically that it is compatible with this model. I had similar problems elsewhere too, as I want to install LoJack on my laptop, but can not find information about the question to know if my laptop model is supported by what is called the 'persistence technology' in the BIOS (which makes it impossible to uninstall LoJack even if you change hard drives).

  • Adding additional SSD for dell xps 15 with 256 GB SSD

Hi, I just bought a dell xps 15 9550 with 6th gen i7, 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB ssd. Is it possible to add an additional SSD for the location of hard disk 2.5 inches remaining. If possible do I need to buy the cable for SSD too or is that what cable already included here?

    Thanks in advance,

There is a support and a set of rubber bumper needed to connect a disk 2.5 "hard.  In general, these are not delivered with the system unless it is controlled with a hard drive - you must remove the base of the cover to check if - some reports are that some versions can be delivered with the necessary equipment.  If not, they are likely available from spare parts from Dell and from other sources such as EBay and third Dell parts suppliers such as share - People.com.

  • 4 TB drive added for dell precision t7400 but does detect that 2 TB

    Hello everyone,

We had a Dell Precision T7400 running windows 7 Professional SP1 and we have added a new hard drive (4to), but it does detect that 2 TB of disk (already placed the GPT disk).

I read in another post that I started to update the SATA drivers?

    Is this correct?

    Where are the SATA drivers?

    Thank you.

    Best regards.

The drive is connected to the motherboard or are they connected to a controller card? The T7400 controllers (SAS 6/iR, PERC 6 / i) do not support disks larger than 2 TB. If it is connected to the motherboard, you must update the Intel RST drivers:

  • The power supply for Dell Precision Workstation upgrade

Recently, I posted a question regarding the upgrade of that food to a XPS 8700 and it seems that I can use ATX power supplies and replace as necessary to these computers. But now I am also thinking of dell precision workstations, because I want to have a few relatively high-performance computing done on my system, what it seems as a workstation would be better, as the work of Dell Precision T1700 Mini Tower. But I can't understand anything on the question of whether I can pass the integrated power supply so that it exceed 700w. Thus,.

    (1) any reflection on the power supply upgrade, whether possible?

    (2) are there jobs integrated with a high (greater than 700watts) power?

    (3) in the future, if I wanted to know if I could make these upgrades to other Dell machines, where can I find out about this?

    Hi Daniel191919,

Yes, most power supplies from Dell can be improved with standard parts. But honestly, the easiest would be to get a precise work with the PSU W 1100 high range.

  • BIOS update failed - Dell Precision M4600

I just got a used M4600 and the currently installed bios is A08. When I try to update to A16, it restarts, said it is updating the firmware, but fails at 0%. It gives no reason and no code error I can say. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.

Is NOT the issue! There is nothing wrong with motherboards M4600 se.

Everyone tried to find why when you attempt an upgrade of the BIOS, the system fails immediately with a "BIOS Update Failed" basis and any specific error code or more explanations. The answer is in the PDF below--that is the message displayed when the BIOS authentication will fail!

Just look for the Firmware Signature Dell's "feature" that was introduced in a number of laptop including the M4600.  Doc PDF to download. It is a feature introduced by the NIST requirements.

In a Word, they changed the way BIOS authenticates a BIOS file before he will use it to update the firmware BIOS & CBS. The M4600 is in the list of "Legacy Systems", where it was introduced. Basically, these systems do NOT have the Firmware of Signature When produced.

Version A04 introduced this feature. After you have that installed, you will have an option to activate the requirement of Signature of the Firmware (default is). Once activated, it cannot be disabled!

The problem starts in worm BIOS A08. Something in the code is wrong. Because on some M4600s, it updates the BIOS AND activates the requirement of Signature of the Firmware. After that, the system will authenticate ALL the other versions of the BIOS, so you will NOT be able to upgrade past version 8!

I got many, many systems for a company. I'm currently sitting on 33 (Yes, that many) M4600 with this exact same situation!

An exchange of motherboard does not correct the problem. It is to give you a new BIOS chip to tinker with.

  • Dell Precision M4600: Optimus activation disables LCD brightness control

My new M4600 I managed to install all the drivers for the system. However, I noticed that windows switches to graphical mode (login screen), I am unable to change the brightness of the LCD Panel.

The brightness slider to display change in Control Panel of Windows 7 does nothing. It is simply ignored. If I press Fn + worms upwards or downwards, the cursor moves, but the brightness does not change. Dell OSD brightness appears with the correct brightness value, but it does not change (if I set the brightness to 50% before the login at startup, this status displays 50% screen all the time).

I even tried to install the official NVidia drivers, but the result is identical with the drivers from Dell.

The strange thing is that the LCD brightness setting begins to run AFTER the system goes into hibernation and back out of it.

  • Good memory for Dell 8200

I'm trying to resurrect my Dell 8200 [Admin NOTE: maintain the label removed in accordance with the TOU strategy] and strengthen the memory. Of course it is long out of warranty, but wonder if anyone can help me find good sticks. It came with "512 MB PC800 RDRAM", (bought in dec 2001), but I have no additional information without opening the case. Also, I "think" it has a 400 Mhz bus speed, while more memory like this announced a 533 Mhz bus speed. The CPU running at 1.9 Ghz. How can I determine the speed of the bus, more info on memory OK to add, etc.? The machine is currently being implemented with Debian Linux. It does not run ok, but I want to increase the memory and I'm concerned about buying the chips 'bad '.

I am currently using another machine to post this request. Any help much appreciated.

    jrch6506

    jrch6506

The 8200 dimension a 850 Chipset with 400 MHz FSB processor will work with 40 or 45 ns RDRAM, but the 850e Chipset with FSB 533 MHz processor requires the fastest 40 ns RDRAM.

It would be a 850 chipset, the system is earlier than mid-May 2002.

The largest processor, you can use, would be 2.8 GHz/400 MHz

To get the version of the chipset, use CPU-Z

  • Second disk modules and hard memory for Dell Inspiron 580

We have a Dell Inspiron 580, which we try to use once more (been using a Tablet).  I would like to know if the following can be used for this computer - especially the memory modules since we receive messages to have "insufficient memory".  I can't remember where we got these parts (believe memory modules came from Dell).

Hard drive: Western Electric WD400 [WD P/N: WD400BB-32CLB0]

Memory modules: SNPJ0202C/512 - I have four of these modules

These items (above) can be used with the Dell Inspiron 580?

    SilkPony

None of the parties you posted are compatible with the Inspiron 580

The hard drive is IDE/EIDE, which is not supported by the 580. The 580 only supports SATA drives.

The memory is DDR which is not supported by the 580, which supports only DDR3 memory.

  • Upgrade memory for DELL INSPIRON 14 N4050

    Hello

I plan to upgrade RAM to my laptop DELL INSPIRON 14 N4050 & the current configurations are:

    1 213-14765: 2nd generation processor Intel (r) Core (T M) i5 - 2450 M (2.50 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3 GHz.10 2.0)

    2. 370-18553: 2 GB (1 x 2 GB) DDR3 1333 Mhz DIMM 1

    My question is:

    1. the capacity of the RAM is supported?

    2. what happens if I use the 1600 Mhz instead of 1333 Mhz module?

    Thank you.

    1. 8 G in total, 2 x 4 max.

    2. the memory running at 1 066 MHz max - you need a CPU to run 1333 i7;  the system cannot run faster even if 1600 1333 memory is installed.

  • Upgrade memory for Dell T410 Server

    Hi all!

I have a Dell T410 server and want to update my RAM memory.

I currently have 24GB RAM as follows:

3 modules of 8GB RAM Dell certified - 2Rx4 LV of 1333 MHz RDIMMS

I like to keep these modules and add extra. Don't know if I can add 8 GB, 16 GB, or 24 more.

Hope you can help out me.

    Thanks in advance!

If you have a processor you have only an available slot, so adding another 8 GB of memory would be the limit.

  • How to activate the NumLock at startup for Dell Precision 7510

    Hello

I just got a new 7510 precision and can not find a way to activate numlock automatically at startup.

I checked the BIOS and that is already activated.

I would like that because I'm running WIndows 10 and it is set to connect with a digital PIN.

Does anyone know how to do this?

    Thank you

    Jim

Hi, my company has just bought some of these 7510 s. I had the same problem. This is how I corrected.

Go 2 places in the registry fix.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/CONTROL PANEL / KEYBOARD and IntitialKeyboardIndicators set of 2

Next and don't forget to do the one below (this is my problem, only did a whole first)

IntitialKeyboardIndicators HKEY_USERSDEFAULT/CONFIGURATION/KEYBOARD Panel and set of 2

    Hope this helps :)
