All my icons of programs and other modified icons

I read a similar thread in my but the problem is the following.  I opened a PDF file using my version of PDF Creator 5.0 in Windows 7.  All of a sudden all the icons on my desktop and in my Start menu have the same icon for PDF Creator and all my old icons have disappeared.  That's happened?  Do we have a very big, bad hole in Windows 7?  Or I just click a few stupid combo that did it?  Anyone have any ideas?  Also how do it reset?  I don't want to reload Windows 7 new or having to return to a point of reset for a month.  Oh yes I forgot one thing.  When I tried to change the icon back to what it was, I was told that I have to perform Administration approval to do this, but then nothing happened.

You can also try to connect to the original administrator account by pressing CTRL + ALT + DELETE (all three keys twice at the same time), you will get the classic login prompt. Type the administrator user name and password. You should be able to connect.

To activate this visible account to the Welcome screen, once logged in click on Start-> Run Type &-> Regedit-> ok.

    Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-> SOFTWARE-> Microsoft-> Windows NT-> CurrentVersion-> Winlogon-> SpecialAccounts-> UserList

Internet explore 8 has changed all my icons and won't let me access any of my programs

    Original title: change icons

    Hello

    Method 1:

You can see the fix it and steps that are offered in this link:

When you open a file on a Windows-based computer, the file may start another program

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2656106

    Method 2:

You can also scan your computer the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • After you restore rundll32.exe, I restarted my computer all the icons on my desktop and all programs in the start menu disappeared

Every thing seems to have returned to normal, but when I restarted my computer all the icons on my desktop and all programs in the start menu disappeared, and yet, all programs are always in: Control Panel > add/REMOVE programs.   I can still connect to the internet by going to-Start > my computer > view > go to the desktop. How to get back all the icons on my desktop. I tried a click right, but in vain. I also ran a scan complete antivirus. any help would be appreciated.

Thank you Joel S. Before I could put your advice into practice a friend recommended a friend who advised me to do a system restore, which he said he would be happy to do it for me. So look like an easy option, I agreed. It seems to have solved the problem (fingers crossed), but now it seems that I need to format the hard drive. If you have any tips on formatting hard drive I'm all ears. Thank you Owen

    Hello

There is no way sure of 100% to prevent it from happening again, and we don't really know the cause.
A glitch like this is sometimes due to an update (Windows, the utility of the Antivirus system manufacturer, or)
another program) and the cure is just another reboot, as it was this time. Although the actual cause is
    still unknown.

Good for backups of your data, switch off the machine, and follow these steps.
