Almost complete hard drive

I use the backup engineering program 9 with an external drive.  I sent by mistake the backup to disk C (local disk).  Now it is almost full, and I need advice on how to get off the backup.

Thank you.

Hi Hawkerwalker,

I suggest you to remove the backup that was created on the C: drive and check it out.

After you remove the backup of your C drive, recreate the backup on external drive.

  • How can I defragment a complete hard drive (formerly)?

I want to give my husband my old laptop, a HP non-tech.  It's the hard drive 60 gigabytes.  A few days ago, I sent most of my personal to the Recycle Bin and then deleted files (don't worry, all these files are in my new computer and saved on an external hard drive), the thought that would open up more space, because it was so full.  (The Defragmenter says he needs 15% free space on the disk.)  The Defragmenter says only 1 percent of the space was available, and after I left to do its thing, he went up to 2%.

Is not remove all these files something interesting?

I must also say that I deleted a bunch of files temporary and others, also, but this seems not to have helped.

Is it possible that I can open a space on the hard drive without having to completely clean and re - install all software?  Thank you.

    Hello

Out of the blue, my laptop just stopped starting sometimes.  It didn't fall or anything.  The screen remains black after start-up and only the fan turns on.  Verified the external monitors etc.

He occasionally start and I have usually press f10 for that to happen.  I ran the diagnostic tests and memory, we came back ok.

Disd hark test rises "hard disk complete 1 (305).

However when I leave configured BIOS, windows starts normally and works ok for a few days.  So is there really a problem with the hard drive?  This would explain why it won't turn?

The laptop becomes quite hot enough quickly also, this can be explained by the error of hard disk or is it do? I don't want to buy a new drive hard to make it happen.  Is it POSSIBLE to repair a hard drive or replacement is the only option? This error is certainly correct?

    Thank you

    Hello miklc:
I'm here, but I don't know what is your solution. frrw I get a solution resolved says the error message (disk hard 1The (305) means your drive hard fails to replace the hard drive.) http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-lockups-freezes-hangs/G61-110SA-hard-disk-1-full-305/TD-p/1932921 Same error but on another HP computer. Just got a new laptop with a 500G hard drive that came from outset partitioned in a 58 C (OS) drive and highway 397 G D. I just found out that all the files I have transferred or created will in the C drive files while D is completely empty!

That do I do first place for D drive in action, and secondly to move the relevant folders I'm already complete (my music, etc.) across from C to D?

Nothing. He's already in action - just blank.

Do not try to move everything that is part of the operating system,
But what is your data (like music) just move there.

You do not know how to move files or folders from one location to
another? There are many ways, but one that I like:

Open computer and navigate to the file or files that you want to move.
Open computer a second time and this time navigate to the place you
you want to move the data.

You have now two instances of the open computer, one showing the "of".
place, the other place "to". In the working window 'from' select
the files or folders that you want to move. Then * right *-drag (with the)
right button of the mouse) the files or folders to the 'to' computer
    window.

When you release the right mouse button, you will be asked if you
you want to copy, move, or create a shortcut. Choose "move".

    Hello world

IM using a MacMini 2012 with 16 GB of RAM and a 500GB HDD stock.

I don't know what to do. My MacMini gives me error messages all the time say that my HARD disk memory is full - but it isn't.

I already emptied the trash. I was transferred to GB´s videos on an external HARD drive. Sometimes, the memory is more and what is reduced without having done anything.

Today I had 1, 76 GB of free memory and wile watching a video the same 'lack of HARD disk space"message.

The amounts also vary a lot. Yesterday he showed me 210 GB of videos (green) - today after the transfer not 10 GB of videos, it says now that I just left 12 GB and the difference is now on color (yellow) data.

    Can someone help me please...

Hope I explained myself good enough.

My HARD drive is nearly full, so I'll change it with an SSD on 0ne terabite, how do I transfer my operating system and the programs over to the new drive? Thank you for your help.

I had a lot of success with Samsung EVO 850 and 840 SSD, SSD Crucial. The sandisk conversion kit will make this simple.

Hybrid hard drives are certainly not identical to an SSD. They don't have the super speed or the overall coherence of BIOS.

I got a note that explains this in detail, but HP decided, just over a week, there is or not, to remove our ability to do information and turorial stickies. This is why you don't see many, if any stickies.

  • It's a complete hard drive after reinstalling XP Home and all updates are done, why?

Do a XP Home reinstall on a desktop HP clocked at 1.6 ghz with 1 GB of ram and a 10 GB hard drive (about 9.8 GB usable after format). Booted from the disc, has made a full format of the hard drive, responsible for XP home without any problems, registered with Microsoft online, loaded all updates including SP3. Now, the system shows only about 170 MB of hard disk space. Is it possible that XP Home with updates can use much more space or can I have another problem? I thought that she should only use about 1.5 GB?

I could indeed take up that much space. But, you have a more serious problem. Your drive is too small... you have lucky, Windows is still stable. Where to install your programs?

  • Virus complete hard drive.

    Hello

I'm having this problem where this virus keeps filling my hard drive (only the C) with invisible files. I've had this problem for a while now (probably around a year-ish, and Yes, I'm that lazy/careless with a jerk to start to deal with it now). Anyhoo, I did some research and found a way to return back in time mainly by the system restore so I tried, but my computer says that there is no restore points, so basically that I'm screwed if this is my only recourse.
Is it possible to get rid of this terrible virus? Any help would be very much appreciated since this is getting really tiring.

    Here are a few comments:

    • Your D: drive is a recovery disk. It is normal that it is full. In fact, delete the drive letter to make it invisible. This will not hinder its functionality.
    • Defragment and run antivirus programs will not release any disk space.
    • Several programs using antivirus is not a good idea. At best they badly slow down the machine. At worst causes conflicts between them.
    • Here are the first two steps you should take:
      -Running Cleanmgr.exe.
-Set the amount of disk space used by the restoration of the system to 5%.
(Control Panel / System / System Protection / configuration)

If you still have a problem, download and run TreeSize: http://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free/.

If you need to display additional snapshots, please use instead of PrtSc snippingtool.exe to make readable image. Here's what the snapshot of the disk manager would look like:

If you mean the partition hidden WinRE Vista then; YES

But don t worry buddy. The Toshiba Vista recovery CD would be to format the whole HARD drive and erase all partitions, but it creates the hidden WinRE Vista back to the HARD disk partition.

  • Can I add an additional hard drive storage?

A 40 GB hard drive, I installed in my computer and I would like to know what would be the best practice to install an additional hard drive?

A 40 GB hard drive, I installed in my computer and I would like to know what would be the best practice to install an additional hard drive?

    Basically, you have two choices:

    1. install a second hard drive (only possible if your computer has physical space for this)

    2. replace your 40 GB with a bigger drive.

If you add or replace, there are two important factors you need to consider size and interface type.  Most laptops use 2.5-inch disks.  Most of office/towers use 3.5-inch disks.  There are several different hard drive interfaces, and you get a drive that has the same interface as your computer.

Most older computers use the Parallel ATA interface (PATA or sometimes simply ATA).  These discs are also called IDE disks.  There are several variations, but those generally available today is the Ultra ATA66 IDE / ATA - 5, Ultra ATA100 IDE / ATA - 6 and the Ultra ATA133 IDE / ATA-7.  The numbers refer to the data transfer rate.  No matter the data transfer capacity of the disc, however, your actual data transfer rates will be limited by your motherboard.  Finally, you'll notice an RPM rating and a size of "cache".  For the performance, in general, the higher these numbers the better the performance.

Number of computers more recent uses the interface Serial ATA (SATA).  There are three versions of the present.  SATA-1 (1.5 Gbps), SATA-2 (3 Gbps) and SATA-3 (6 Gbps).  However, given that you currently have a 40 GB drive, it is strong enough to bet that you have NOT of SATA.

Another interface is SCSI.  You have probably not SCSI.

The starting point is by identifying the brand and model of your computer.  If you have a desktop/Tower computer, you can buy almost any hard drive, that you like; laptops can be a bit more picky.  A good resource for readers (once you know what you want) is newegg.com  Drive Solutions offer one advice that should tell you what players are compatible with your computer.

If you choose to replace rather than add them, you will need to 'clone' of your existing to the new drive.  To do this, you will need appropriate software.  Sometimes, the software basic disk of cloning comes with the disk (remember to read the product description or email/call the seller before you buy).  Sometimes, it is available as a free download from the manufacturer of the drive (for example, if you buy a Western Digital drive, WD has "Acronis True Image WD Edition Software").  Or you can get your own copy of various applications of cloning, some are free, but more for sale.

If you replace a laptop (or a drive in a desktop/tower with no computer available drive Bay), you can buy an external hard drive enclosure.  There are a variety of them.  Just be sure to get one with the internal interface correctly to match the drive and an external interface that is compatible with your computer (usually, USB 2.0).  External hard disk enclosure are sometimes comes with disk cloning software.  And, once your new drive is in place and functioning satisfactorily, you can put the old drive in the box and erase (format) it and use it as a backup drive.

Above sounds a lot more complicated than it is.  You will probably find even the process YouTube videos, if you look at.

  • hard to re-formatting my hard drive

I have a desktop HP M9510F. The vehicle currently has Windows 7 64 bit, has improved Vista about 2 years ago?

I tried to reformat the hard drive, using the Recovery Manager, but when I select a complete recovery, using the original software (Vista), the computer stops, re-boots & you have a choice to go in a certain date, go to the dos prompt, with the image mirror and a few other repair options, but it doesn't give you the opportunity to make a re-formatting of complete hard drive & re - install the original software. The software is on a Factory image D, 13.4 GB partitioned drive. I have the windows cd is not a full version, but an upgrade.

Any ideas, I was able to reformat without any problem when I had Vista installed, simply use the wizard and it wasn't a problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks Greg

Here are the specifications of your desktop HP Pavilion Elite m9510f. According to specifications, your computer comes with Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64 bit installed at the factory. Your hard drive composed of two partitions, 'C'... your running score and "D"... your recovery image partition. When you installed Windows 7, the 'link' on the recovery partition has been broke. That is why why does not work correctly. Please try to install "HP Recovery Manager Application Update" of HP to try to fix your problem. If this does not work, you can use a set of HP recovery discs to do the work of recovering your system factory installed Vista OS. If you did not go to a game of HP recovery disk for your computer, you can order of HP - ' English, French, Edition Vista Home Premium 64 b 91NAv6PrA1 SP1 Recovery Kit ".

Finally, you mention that your Windows 7 disc is a disc of upgrade. If you want all software included HP shipped with Windows Vista, you can install a new copy of Windows 7 from your upgrade disc. Just insert the disc and follow the instructions. Do not enter the product key for Windows 7 at this time... Wait until Windows is completely installed and all the service packs and updates are installed before you enter the key and activate.
