Alongwith Acrobat install Acrobat DC 11

Hey guys!

Is it possible to install Acrobat DC, next to Acrobat XI?

Without having any problems, I mean...

It is not desirable, nor is it supported.  You will receive this dialog box if it comes to the Acrobat continuous DC version:

  • Adobe Acrobat installed but does not appear in the list of plugins

I need to have Acrobat reader for some of my work files, but for some reason when I load the web page that is using the drive it I get a gray screen that says 'a plugin is required to view this content. Of course, the plugin is Adobe Reader, I already installed. The web page works fine when I open it in IE, so I know that the drive is installed and working. When I go to About: Plugins Adobe isn't in the list.

I have looked everywhere and tried everything I can find, but nothing works.

You are right. I completely forgot that I was running Waterfox. I closed and open Firefox and the plugin Adobe is there and it works.

I will look to Waterfox support to see if there is a solution for this issue.

My most humble apologies to all who tried to help.

  • Plugin 11.0 installed Acrobat 10.1.3 today Firefox don't work (ok in Safari) installed extension PDF viewer 0.2.537 can now display PDF in firefox

It is for information purposes. I installed Acrobat plug today 10.1.3 and I get a blank tab while trying to open a PDF in Firefox 11.0. This plug in works in Safari. I've disabled the plug into Firefox and installed the extension form PDF viewer 0.2.537 Mozilla and open documents. I just wanted to tell you someone1.3

If you want to use Adobe Acrobat, you can simply change the preference that has messed up:

Go to Firefox > Preferences > Applications and search for "PDF file".

Beside that, select use Adobe Acrobat (or use the preview) rather than Adobe Acrobat NPAPI 10.1.3

Adobe NPAPI plug-in does not work on Firefox 64-bit... There's probably a bug where the Adobe Reader update puts this preference.

  • Portege R600-11b - cannot install Adobe Acrobat 9 - ActiveX problem

I recently bought a Portege R600-11b and have tried to install Adobe Acrobat 9 on it by downloading it from the Adobe site.
I spent many fruitless hours talk to Adobe to try to solve this problem.

They concluded that my laptop is not compatible with the software.
This isn't the case, that this laptop exceeds the specification of systems required in all aspects.

The problem seems to be that it won't work ActiveX even after all the firewalls and anti-virus in disabled - I don't know hardly what to do - anyone has any suggestions please?

    > They concluded that my laptop is not compatible with the software.
    That s just absurd

The Adobe Acrobat Reader software is a small application and can be installed on almost all computers and systems so that s certainly not a reason why you are not able to install this software.

If this problem is related to the ActiveX, then you can change this in the settings of your internet browser.
For example, using the IE7 you could modify this here:
Tools-> Internet Options-> areas-> {}-> ActiveX controls and plug - ins area-> allow unused ActiveX controls to run without prompt

You can also try to clean the operating system and the registry because the problem might be related to faulty registry entries.
To do this, I would recommend using the free CCleaner tool.

Finally and above all it s always advisable to consult the homepage of support from software manufacturers. Here you will find some documents on installation with the Adobe Acrobat Reader software problems.

  • Cannot install Adobe Acrobat 5 because of Vista compatibility

I just replaced a XP Pro computer with a 32-bit Vista Business box. XP Pro had Acrobat 5 installed from the CD and more later put upgraded to Acrobat 7 via a download purchase. I have the serial number of the version 7 of the file, but the operation fails due to the absence of a software qualification (the previous version). While trying to install version 5, I get an error of this facility and Vista compatibility. I start here in case there is something with that Microsoft can help you, if not I will contact Adobe for help. Thanks, dave
PS. If it turns out that Acrobat 7 also has a compatibility issue in Vista, a possibility would be to downgrade to XP Pro.

Are you referring to the Acrobat authoring application, Yes (not Adobe Reader)?
If so, I'm sorry to inform you that even Acrobat 7 don't is not supported by Adobe under Vista - only version 8.1 or higher:

    Hi basically,

    Method-

Note: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

Back up the registry - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Back-up-the-registry

Perform the steps in the article-

Note: The antivirus will try to repair the defective hard disk sectors damaged by viruses. Data on these areas could be lost in the process. Proceed at your own risk.
