Check if ALT + Pearl click results in the nagivationClick of the screen containing invoked method. It may be that the ALT + click is consumed somewhere between the screen and your field.

  • In Windows 7, how "to hide the letters highlighted for the keyboard navigation until I press the Alt key" (as in XP)?

My underlined letters are all the time in menus and dialog boxes, and I want to disable them.

The first thing I did was go to control panel, accessibility, making the keyboard easy to use, to turn off underline keyboard shortcuts and access keys - but it is already off.

So how do you disable these underscores in Windows 7?

    Hello Dmbyrnes,

I understand that you may be eager to hide the menu bar.  Attached, are steps that can be beneficial in addressing you request...

    (1) first Rt click on the bottom of the menu and uncheck lock the toolbars. Then click on organize > layout > menu bar make sure is unaudited.

From there you should be able to hit the Alt key and the Bar Menu to repopulate.  If you please you would follow with me at your convenience, I would be very happy.

  • Windows - Alt Key focus bug does not have to access the menus.

    Hello-

I use Alt - Tab to move through my open applications.  After tabbing through open applications using Alt - Tab, and then selecting an application (such as Excel), the Alt key does not work the first time I click on it.

For example, I Alt - Tab to Excel, Excel Gets the focus, I type Alt - F to access the file menu.  It does not work.  I find myself with the letter 'F' in the currently selected cell.  Inevitably, this screw my spreadsheet and distracted me from my work.  This was never a problem in Windows XP, in Windows 7.  I find that it is occurring with other applications also.

I have to press the ALT key twice or press ESC and Alt - F.

Is there any solution for this?  A patch?  A work around?

    Thank you

I discovered that the source of this problem (for my computer) is that I was using an Aero theme.  When I switched to Windows Classic theme, the problem disappeared.

    Steps to follow:

    (1) right-clight on your desktop.

    (2) select "Customize".

    (3) select "Windows Classic Theme.

I found that it was the themes Aero that caused the problem.  So now, Windows 7 is really ugly with the "Windows Classic theme" but I'll take functionality without bugs an interface fairly riddled with bugs anywhere, anytime.

    It works for you?

  • How to disable the left Alt key as the taskbar pop-ups when you try to play the game then press the left Alt key

Original title: left disabling Alt Taskbar pop-up Menu window

    Hello

I have problems with the taskbar. Every time I tap my left Alt key twice, then left Alt + (1-6) a context menu appears. It's the same thing as right click a tab on your taskbar for anyone who is struggling to recreate my problem. Right Alt does not cause this problem.

It is very bad news for me as the focus of changes in context menu of what I do. I play video games in my free time and have game left keybinds for Alt + 1,2 & 3. I will support on these keybinds quickly all while playing. This will cause the context menu for taskbar activate and I'll be tabbed out of my game.

I searched for weeks trying to solve this problem and I have not found any that is worked. I tried to disable the jump lists. I tried to change the registry for a right click on the taskbar. I saw patches of this forum and several others and nothing I found works.

Recently, I contacted Microsoft to the it Department by phone and said they knew exactly how to fix this and if I have to pay $50 to one of their technicians have to connect to my computer that they would have this problem corrected in the blink of an eye. I find this limit extortion honestly and I hope someone had this problem and can provide steps on fixing it.

    Thank you

    Ryan LeBlanc

Thank you for your answer, but the answer you provided is for a question that is different from what I was living. Your link has solved a problem with someone who has the taskbar pop up when their mouse/cursor passes over. My problem was to have a drop down of the taskbar appear whenever I type left Alt + 1/2/3/4 etc.

However, I have since fixed. If there is anyone else out there with this problem, it's a hardware problem with my keyboard. I couldn't get anyone to recreate my problem by pressing left Alt + 1, etc. (although you can recreate my problem to click with the right button on a program in the task bar), so I reset my left Alt key. After resetting my left Alt key this problem does occur more (yay)

    Thank you

  • Stuck Alt key

I'm sure it is a software problem, but it's the closest Windows subcategory of you, that I could choose to 99%.
The signal from my alt key is stuck on and power off. Pressing frantically until it changes can get so that I can type again, but he does not use the key combinations alt, and if I have inadvertently forgotten it is working properly, sometimes it gets stuck and then I cannot do anything BUT alt key combinations. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate. I did some troubleshooting and that's what I know:
    Using another keyboard does not.
    * Using a different OS IS fix the problem, so it occurs in Windows.
    * The keyboard screen reflects when the alt key is stuck or not. By clicking on the ALT key on the on-screen keyboard has the same bizarre effect only by pressing the button.
Reinstalling the drivers for the keyboard did not help.
Restarting the computer gets the button to take off.
    * Sticky keys and alt-lock are turned off.

I have fixed problems Windows 1,000001 million before, but this one left me speechless. Thanks in advance to all those who have ideas.

I suggest to check for cause of eth to clean boot state and make sure you have already completed all the possible troubleshooting steps.

Clean boot: To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • System standby by pressing the Alt key

Original title: key Alt = weird sleep problem

Well, I just built a new system with windows 7 64 bit and am having a problem with my ALT.  Whenever I press the ALT (alone or in combination with another key), the system goes into sleep mode.  The system shuts down as usual, but when the system wakes from sleep there is no video signal from the monitor and it remains empty.  I have to disconnect the system from the wall outlet and wait a few minutes before starting it up normally.  I tried to google some answers and look around here a bit but have not found the answers.  He is a first generation of time for me and it's the only issue.  I hope it's just a simple setting, but I am new to windows 7 and am not able to find a solution.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Hi Fuzzylunkin,

    1. you are using a laptop or desktop?

    2. who is the manufacturer and what is the model number of the system?

    Step 1:

If you use a laptop, check if the FN key is enabled. If so, then try totoggle to OFF.

    Step 2:

If you are using a desktop computer, try to download the latest driver for the keyboard updates and check.

    Check out the link:

    Update drivers: recommended links

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-drivers-recommended-links

    Step 3:

You can also try to change the keyboard on the screen and check if the problem persists when you use the ALT key.

    Check out the link:

Type without using the keyboard (on-screen keyboard)

    Hi all

I own a Lenovo T440S, it works on windows 8. So today, I accidentally spilled tea on the keyboard, but it seems to work very well. He should at least given that this laptop is designed to support it.

Everything seems to work very well, but my left alt key now decreases the brightness of the screen every time I click on it.

Can someone tell me how I can stop this? It's so embarrassing to have the brightness down whenever I use it.

    Hi Bianca,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

According to the description of your problem, if this behavior has started to occur after you had spilled tea on the keyboard, then it might be a hardware problem with the specific key. The brightness options are provided with the "fn" in Lenovo thinkpad.

I suggest you begin the diagnostic system in the Web site of the manufacturer for this model only. and check if it helps.
