  • ALTER session nls_date_format not retained

    Hello guys,.

    Here is the environment:

Oracle 11.2.0.1 on Linux 64-bit RHEL DB

    Oracle 11 g 2 on Windows 2008 R2 32-bit client

Our product works service (code generated in c ++) and the service opens 5 sessions of database and alter session set nls_date_format questions to HH24:MI:SS DD/MM/YYYY in each of them.

But searching through the service logs, I see that select statements (to_char (date)) return date in format other than what has been defined via "alter session" i.e. they do not see the part and just JJ-LUN-AA. But the same select instructions out the date in the format of correct/expected (according to alter session statement).

The problem is that we do an insert in a table taking the current system time and running to_date (< time system >). It is a failure with: ORA-01843: not one month valid. I understand that it must specify a format for the input string, the date system, but we do not and was not a problem for someone else.

I'm also no disconnected sessions or reconnects.

    Customer Oracle NLS_LANG is: AMERICAN_AMERICA. UTF8.

This problem occurs for one of our customers who use this product. All other clients do not encounter this problem, as this has been a long-standing code. I'm not saying that the code is perfect and looking at some of the SQLs, we rely on implicit conversion of data in Oracle instead of editing the SQL code, but this has never caused a problem to any other customer.

I understand the hierarchy of setting NLS_DATE_FORMAT i.e. the database, register of operating system of the customer, the customer Oracle (alter session) and finally to_date/to_char functions.

It seems that the session format game becomes overloaded as when they restart the service in our product everything is back to normal until a couple of days, when queries in the service connects begin to show the date incorrect without time portion and just JJ-LUN-AA.

Any help would be appreciated as I had read a lot on the internet with no evidence outside this site including our customer:

My question is, why the session loses the settings of NLS_DATE when it doesn't happen to anyone else? I think that the format is getting replaced in the sessions but how do I know that? How to find environmental changes to current public meetings?

Maybe you have a connection pool if every session is used by different... hmm applications or threads. Even if you issue a command of nls alter at the start of the session, some processes could change this setting later. This is why it is best to not depend on any parameter of session happened when the connection was established.

Best solution: just use the correct format inside the to_Char conversion. Or issue a command to alter session immediately before running the selection.

  • Alter the State of Session? -Apex form publishes text with null value

Recently I discovered a problem with our Apex facility in which all selected as source for a text field value will eventually be displayed as a null value in the database.
We run APEX version 3.2 in an Oracle 10.2.0.4 database using Oracle HTTP Server from 10 g companion disc.

At first glance, everything seems to work as expected; I created a simple table called "oracle_sr" with 2 columns, as both not null:

    SQL > desc capacity.oracle_sr
    Name Null? Type
    ORACLE_SR_ID NOT NULL NUMBER
    TIMESTAMP NOT NULL DATE

In APEX, the form wizard has been used to create a form on this table.
After execution of the pages and you enter a value for the timestamp field, I can create folders without problem.

The question arises when I choose a source for the timestamp field value.
All the source options causes the same error (including a static value) so I'll focus on the SQL query to the source as:

    Select sysdate double;

This should replace the date system in the area of text timestamp when the page is executed.
As expected, the value appears in the text box, but when I submit the form to create the folder I get the error:

    ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ('ABILITY'. "" "" ORACLE_SR '. "" TIMESTAMP")

I have worked with APEX for quite awhile and have successfully used this technique in many applications but just to begin to see this error in recent days. What's particularly odd about this message is by default postings "not null" created by the form wizard sees timestamp class as having a value. Session state information included below reports a value yet the database is to launch the ORA-01400.

Someone has a similar problem? I have spent a good amount of time to try looking for this problem but can't seem to find any similar messages.

I have included the release of my test page, debugging from what I see, it seems to be a value associated with the filed timestamp:

If you have changed the Source Type of an element of database column to something else, so he cannot participate in the automated line choreography Fetch/automatic line processing (DML). You must leave the Type of Source, as it was and change the default value of the element fill when the ARF process retrieves a null value for the column.

  • LOV displayed as null when it has a value in session state

I use ajax to Dene Kubinek cascading select list example and it works fine. I have only one small problem. After the process of database update is running, and the page is refreshed the second selection list of with the null value when it has a value of 6 session state. Even if the database is updated with the correct value users will think that a null value has been updated because it shows - select Team - rather than the team that was selected.

How can I fix it? I have read dozens of threads on the forum about the cascading selection lists and none of them seem to address this issue. I followed messageID = 2803572. When I changed the first select list of a select list with submit it wouldn't work because the onchange process did not run.

It's very frustrating because the first select list contains the correct value in session state, and it is to show the selected value. I only have this problem with the second select list. I don't have two selection lists, one meets the other.

Here is the code for my second selection list:

    SELECT TEAM_DESC, TEAM_ID
    OF CEAH_TEAMS
    WHERE UNIT_ID = NV(:P116_CENTER) or NV(:P116_CENTER) = - 1

I use the same code in another form and it works very well. The only difference is that the other form already has a value for the first list in the selection, so I didn't need additional code to check the value zero. If I don't check the null value (: P116_CENTER = - 1) I get a LOV error when the page initially loads.

    Help. Thanks in advance, Elizabeth

  • What the Protection of Session State and when it is used.

    Hello

I just want to know what is the Protection of the State of Session and where it should be used.

    Thank you
    Deepak

    Deepak,

Protection of the State of session in the Oracle apex is a built-in feature that allows you to prevent users / hackers to a URL handling in your application.

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E14373_01/AppDev.32/e11838/sec.htm#CDDGIGJH

A simple way to undersatnd, what would be your banking session. As soon as you connect, your URL would include a key and probably session information for the session that you log on. But if you copy this URL and log off and reuse the URL, you wouldn't be able to connect as that the session is over.

Or once you connect and navigate to a page, you would have the information information session and the page in your browser to the URL (say it's balance transfer page). However, this page would not directly accessible using the URL with someone else. A similar security feature can be activated by using "URL access" in the access page for Apex session state protection.

    Hope this helps,
    Rajesh.

  • ALTER session in cfquery statement

    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT = GENERIC_BASELETTER;

    Did anyone get an idea?

  • ALTER session set current_schema

    Hello

We have multiple instances of the database (for example, MR01DEP, MR02DEP,...).

Each instance is composed of more than stores (called schemas): for example, for MR01DEP, we have STORE1, Bank 2, 3, to MR02DEP we STORE5, STORE6,... and so on.

Now, using developer PL/SQL, SQL Developer or even SQL Plus, when I connect to these databases, I connect using the user SUP_TMP (who has the privileges necessary for the actions that I have to do), and I have something like this:

Conn SUP_TMP / < password > @STORE1 (I can connect like this and not with @MR01DEP; However, even @MR01DEP is correct).

Today, all the tables are on these patterns (STORE1, STORE2,..), and when I connect with the SUP_TMP user, each time, at each meeting, I have to write:

    ALTER session set current_schema = STORE1, or

    ALTER session set current_schema = Bank 1

At the beginning of every script that I have to run, I want to write a little routine so that I don't need every time to this «alter session set current_schema» statement

    If I connect with SUP_TMP / < password > @STORE1.

so I see in the instance of v$, as the instance_name is (correct) MR01DEP.

But I need to somehow get that banks '1', which I use when I connect to it (although, normally, I connect to a database, such as MR01DEP, but I'm specifying STORE1 in the connection string).

So, in other words, I need that at the beginning of each script, to determine the current connection string I'm specifying after '@', and which is the current_schema.

    If I log in as SUP_TMP / < password > @STORE5, then I'll have something like immediate execution "alter session set current_schema = STORE5'."

SUP_TMP user should be the I connect each time, but the current pattern of each script in each session, must come from the connection string.

    Is this possible?

    Thank you!

I know, I specify the store, and it will automatically connect to the correct database (this is the case).

No - NOT sure that connect you to the right base.

As said ground that alias 'keep' is on the client and can be mapped to ANY DATABASE at all.

Also - what you specify with is the DATABASE - this isn't a pattern.

You're talking about two different things.

You set the current schema - you connect to a database. TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.

It may not even be a schema with the same name as the database.

Do not use the same name for the databases and schemas. Oracle is NOT sql server.

You can create a trigger AFTER the opening of SESSION to define the schema for you, but you must be able to know which schema must be defined.

  • 'ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA' does not work

    Hello

in my JAVA application, I need to change a user's session so that it gets access to the tables that are created by the user 'myUser' (see code below).

The code below shows how I tried to implement with JAVA:

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Statement stmtSchema = con.createStatement ();
String sql = "ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = myUser;"
    check int = stmtSchema.executeUpdate (sql);
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is no exception later when running the program, but it seems that the SQL in JAVA command will have no effect because when the program tries a SELECT statement after the session I get an exception:

Java.Sql.SqlException ora-00942: table or view does not exist

This means that the current_schema has not yet changed.

When I tried the same command with sqlplus, it works fine.

Why it does not work with JDBC?

We use 8.1.3 of Oracle and Oracle 10g Release 2.

    Hello
just a validation test. You guarantee that the alter session command and the select statement is belonging to the same connection object?
If the connection object is the same you can post a simple test cases for further investigation?
    Ciao,.

  • ALTER session isn't wofking

    Hi all

I created the process to edit the session to control the currency format, in any way the process works fine on the home page, but when you visit another page or return to the home page the session value (currency format) goes back to the previous setting ($). How can I keep this session fixed and consistent across my Web site?

Also when I change the order of any report that the currency format will be shown in the older framework ($), I use the reports of PPR.

PS, does not change when moving between pages of session state is same. Also, I tried the application process and process page on new session and the page load.

    Thank you
    Fadi.

Try to add to the attribute VPD of your application (security settings):

    run immediately "alter session set nls_currency ="? "" ' ;

.. .adjusted for what you really need.

To clarify, it is an "equal" sign, followed by two single quotes consecutive, followed by a question mark where you can use the desired currency symbol, followed by three apostrophes, terminated by a semicolon.

  • Apex 5.0 "session state protection violation" during the change of display only value point in dynamic action.

The following feature gives us a message "session state protection violation", after we migrated our application from Apex 4.02 to 5.0.

    For example, in apex.oracle.com: https://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=50676:1:

Whenever the value of the input field changes, the URL to test changes. This is done in a dynamic action of 'change' on the version field. The action of the set value changes the value of URL to test.

When the page is sent to the error message is displayed.

    1. Why do we get this message in Apex 5.0 and not in 4.0.2?

    2. What is the way to do this in the Apex 5.0?

    Hi Maxence,

    1. in the case of a display one element

Change your point of P67_C and change the State of Session Save-> No.

    2. in the case of a text field

Change your point of P67_C and make it read-only

go to the attributes of the HTML Form element-> readonly = "readonly".

  • Session state and checkboxes

    Hi guys,.

I'm a little hard with the checkboxes in the APEX 4.2

I am trying to add 2 boxes in my application to filter the data

The problem is how then to value by default when the user opens the page, some data are displayed

If I use the 'Default' section in the details of the box (setting may 1 as default), when I open the web page, the checkbox is marked, but in the session state is not defined so no data will appear. If I submit the new page then Yes, the data is displayed

I could use a calculation that defined the box = 1 if it is not set when the page loads, but it would not work as the calculation would give it 1 time and again when the user the box remove the flag

Anyone know how I could apply this?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

so I found a solution according to the following:

    -create box 2 or more

    -create a hidden text field

-create a header after calculation that has always defined the hidden field = 1

-create one before the calculation of header for each box the value = 1 box only if the value of the hidden text field is null
