  My host Mac crashed and took my Windows 7 VM with it. Now, it does not start. I get the 1 line .vmx syntax error. I saw messages regarding a similar issue. I saw a link to a file vmxrecover.pl. However, I do know how to run that, or how to use it. My archive.zip file is attached.

  The machine is Windows 7 64 bit.

  The attached file "AlberickWin7.vmx.zip" contains a new "AlberickWin7.vmx" file created from the supplied vmware.log file.

  With VMware Fusion closed, unzip (double-click on) attached file "AlberickWin7.vmx.zip" and replace the file "AlberickWin7.vmx" original with that here.

  I got other way to solve this problem, and it was mentioned by Mr. Vijin.

  If I'm not mistaken, the error message will be show after you go to update your driver Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth Vaio update version.

  My way is very simple and maybe you can give it a try. Just go to the Google Web site and key in the version that you want to update. Please select the site Web is Sony's main page.

  Or you can visit the official site of Sony for your country, go to 'Support' and key in the version on the area of research and research.

• Free ghettoVCB.sh u3 ESXi 4.1: line 836: syntax error: bad substitution

  I can't ghettoVCB.sh to run on free ESXi v4.1.

  Copied the .sh and .conf files in/ghettoVCB-master.  When I get home. /ghettoVCB.sh I get:

  If I try/bin/ash ghettoVCB.sh I get exactly the same thing.

  The execute bit is set:

  In case someone else gets the same problem - I finally worked it out.  ESXi 4.1 update 3 do not have the latest version of ghettoVCB.sh.  I guess the version of bash in the console busybox is old and does not support the syntax of some of the improvements made to the script.

  I managed to get an older version of the MKSbackup script and it works fine.

• Why always do an on line 31 syntax error when I try to add a facebook script?

  I am building a site and everything is fine until I have add the Javascript SDK on the facebook developers site.  I want that people can click on the 'Like' button on my site.  Here is the code for the script of facebook:

  Before I add this script, everything is good about it, but once I add it, I get an error saying that there is a syntax to line 31 error: Code indicators may not work until correct you this error.  ... and the only thing on line 31 is the < / style > tag... anyone have an idea?  I've included a screenshot of the problem... • Syntax error (vmx-line 146) - VM does not start!

  I just installed the updated Mac OS security and after that I turned on the printer on the Fusion side Mac OS fixed. Now VMware does not start, and I get the following message

  File "/ users/Pedram/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized / 2.vmwarevm/Windows Vista 2.vmx Vista Windows" line 146: syntax error.

  It seems that the .vmx file is corrupted, as it has just 146 lines.

  I use a software that only runs on a PC and I have all my data stored on the windows side.  It is essential that I have access data, please help me.   I worked on this project for a 1 month and losing the data is equivalent to losing my job.

  Try the attachment. Note that the .vmx file has been truncated in the Middle the AutoProtect settings, so I got rid of all of them - you should reactivate the merge user interface.

  Alternatively, if you could get vmware*.log for the virtual machine, we could try to rebuild the original .vmx file (there may be more pieces of interest who got truncated).

  Also note that if you use the Fusion 2.x, you can access the virtual OS x disk when the virtual machine is not running. CTRL-click on the VM and choose open with > VMDKMounter.

  I see someone else had the same error on ESXI 4 and it is resolved using an older version of the script (not to find an older version)

  Welcome to the community,

  the log files contain binary data, and I guess that makes the .vmx file! I would recommend that you run at least chkdsk on drives to ensure there are no problems with the disks and file system. Attached you will find the configuration file, I've recreated log files.
