You can only get a new product key when buying a new copy of Windows.

Check the bottom of the laptop for a sticker with a 25-digit product key.  If she says it's for the same edition of Windows that is currently on the computer then you can use it.  Otherwise, you can order recovery disks from the manufacturer of the laptop or of a third party as Recovery - Disks.com and restore the computer to its factory condition.  Recovery disks don't require entry of a product key during installation.

  • Need to activate Vista, but do not have another product key

Well, I m using window vista Home premium, but I don, t ve produst the other key to activity from my window

    * original title - I want activity my window vista Home premium but I n, t have another product key, so I did that shoul? *

    Hi gulabsher,

You don't need a different product key for re - activate Vista or it after a re-installation.  The original supplied with the software should do just fine.  However, it is possible that the automated process will not recognize your original valid product key because he thinks that it is already used (and it is from their point of view - on your own computer).

If the automated process fails, use the manual method to activate Vista using the correct product key which accompanies the software.  Remember, if it's an OEM license, it can only be used on the same computer, on which it was originally installed and if a retail license, it can be installed on any computer capable of managing this version of Vista, but only on one computer at a time.

To activate manually, go to start, search, and type in slui 4 enter.  Enter your country
and click Next.  You will be on a screen with a phone number and a bunch of codes below.  Dial the number and browse automatic guests until you get to a human being.  Have your handy product code because it will be asked.  Explain the situation and it is only installed on this PC.  They should give you a code to enter on this screen to activate Vista (or explain why there is a problem if they do not).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

I bought Windows online before going to school. Now, it's the end of November and my computer up to date and a message stating that my Windows is not genuine. I lost my product key, then, how to enable it? I really want to buy another product key.

    Thank you

  • How can I activate windows without having to buy another product key?

Windows says that the product key for my pc is already in use. I don't have another and I don't want to buy one because I have bouht windows. What should I do?

    Hello DCM1,.

You don't need to buy another key, simply activate by phone. See this link from my Web site: http://vistasupport.mvps.org/product_key_already_in_use.htm

The telephone activation line is automated. You will be asked to press 1 to xxx etc. Do not press any key. By not pressing any key you should be transferred to a real person, and that person should be able to help to activate your copy of Vista. Just explain what happened.

  • Why I need another product key?

This question is addressed to the Microsoft customer service.

I installed Windows 7 from a desktop computer new Dell that I bought for my Dell laptop that was purchased in 2008 an upgrade of the Windows Vista OS. I noticed that I need to buy a product key for installation. The price is not cheap, more than a half of the price of OS. I found some very cheap, less than $30, on some websites, but do not know whether or not they are legal. I wonder why I need to make the purchase when I already pay for it on a PC and I don't need to use desktop or laptop at the same time. A floating product key, a key for multiple machines, but not at the same time, is available?

    Hello

"Product keys" that cheap ($30) are not going to be true. As for your idea of a "floating product key", such a mechanism does not exist. The operating system is authorized by the hardware configuration, in order to have a license for the configuration of your laptop and a license for your office configuration.

The only "transfer" which is allowed if you have a retail version of the operating system, you can transfer the OS from one computer to another, but you are still limited to having an OS on a hardware configuration (not an OS on several hardware configurations).

I hope that answers your question (even if you don't like the content!).

  • How to transfer from one account to another product key?

    Hello

We have Adobe Photoshop CS2 and we would like to register on a new PC because the other has been formatted. When we tried to register the software on a specific account by using Adobe ID, he tells us that the product key is already registered with another account. It is for some time we have bought the software, we do not know the exact name of the old account. All we know is that it was recorded using our own domain. Is it possible to transfer the product key of this unknown account to the new created please? Thank you

    Kind regards

You can check error: "Activation Server unavailable". CS2, Acrobat 7, pass a hearing 3

  • I lost my product key, but has my DVD of Windows XP. How can I get another product key?

    original title: product key

I have the DVD original, but lost the product key; would it not be in one of the files? What is my option?

It would depend on the brand and model of your PC. Know also there are generally two types of product keys: single and "OEM Royal golden master" (which is like a volume license key).

Are you absolutely sure that you have lost your product key? If you bought a PC pre-installed with Windows XP, you probably have this unique product key (the) on the COA sticker that is expected to be on the case (or at the bottom of the laptop).

In addition, if your PC does not work, you can use a program like Belarc Advisor or Magical Jellybean Finder to get your key (but if you have a gold key, it's one that will appear, not one single).

Finally, you can not even your key. If your 'original' DVD (or CD maybe?) is a recovery CD, it will very probably return your PC to its original state pre-activated. If it's a Dell brand XP installation CD (and you install it on a Dell computer!), then she too is pre-activated; It would be not asked to enter a key during installation.

  • computer has crashed and now windows 7 tells me its not true until I have another product key... help

How can I get the product key

    Phillip

You have to buy a new copy of Windows 7 to get a product key, but a new key may not be necessary.

I suggest that you run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage diagnostic tool in normal mode (not safe mode) and copy and paste the results into a response for further analysis:

    http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=52012

Run the tool and when it ends, click the copy button, open a text such as Word or Notepad file and select Edit, paste. You can paste directly into an answer here. Open a response, right click and select Paste.

Each PC there own unique key, you can't use the same product key, if you have another product key for the edition, you can use the same DVD to update the other PC.

    2. I will be able to run different applications on the screen & names of account on the other PC.

    Yes, you can.

    3. each PC will have a different MS, google or another account is not linked.

You can use different accounts or the same account. If you want to use the same account, but does not synchronize the same settings on each PC, just turn off the PC sync.

  • Part of my xp product key is missing from my proof of the license sticker

I wiped my hard drive a missing to re install windows media xp home edition on my laptop to see

There is a small flaw on the sticker of the laptop product key so I'm missing two numbers so cannot install xp!.

There is no damage on the bar code and also the 14-digit number is always visible.

Can I get the product key full in some way, or if I can get another product key?

If you use Recovery Windows from the manufacturer of your computer or reinstall drive, chances are you do not be prompted to enter a product key, since the Windows license is an OEM SLP.

Please see: How to replace Microsoft software for more information on how to contact the manufacturer of your computer for help.

  • Product key for Vista

I had problems with my Windows Vista operating system, and to save what I was able to reinstall the OS. Now you ask me to buy another product key. If I could afford that I would upgrade to Windows 8. Please, can you help me?

No one here has asked you to buy a product key, or someone likely to understand what the problem is without explaining you. Which key do you use that does not work?

  • Product key in use

I am currently using windows vista Home premium 64-bit OEM. Lately after many attempts to reformat (due to graphics driver problems), I had problems with my activation. I entered the product key is not present in the system, instead another product key has been registered.

I tried to change my original product key back but it shows that its currently in use.

I tried using the microsoft support Wizard and entered the ID of the product, but it says invalid as well.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

They key is used - by your previous installation.
    Try to activate by phone
Click the Start - button in the search box, type
    SLUI 4
    and press enter
Follow the instructions, but when the automated system asks you what service you need, do NOT - this should oblige the operator to respond.

  • Uploaded image of Windows 7 Professional will not accept the product key that came with my computer.

I have a Dell laptop, Studio, approximately 1 year, delivered with Windows 7 Professional installed - the label with the genuine product key is located at the bottom of the laptop. Shortly after I got it I deleted the recovery partition to make room for Linux installed next to Windows. I had problems with Windows system (mainly caused by me bad installation software and drivers without proper backups) so I decided to reinstall Windows. I had already deleted the recovery partition and wouldn't use it anyway because I prefer a clean system without unwanted from the manufacturer in this regard. I did not receive a Windows operating system installation DVD with my computer, so I downloaded a (64-bit Windows 7 Professional, the same as the original operating system) which already had SP1 on it (the version of Win7Pro installed Dell's not SP1). I installed Windows on this drive and attempted to activate using the product key that came with my computer, but it would not accept the key. I don't have time to try to solve this problem, but now the period of one month is up and my computer does not work correctly.
I suspect that the problem may be due to me using the SP1 disc. If this is the case, should I reinstall Windows again? I have * NOT * GOING to buy another product key when I have already paid for a genuine version of Windows. I just want to be able to use my computer without the ridiculous slowdowns caused by pre-installed software and the way I chose.

Thanks for any help with this problem, I really need fo fix my computer.

original title: Activation error, Windows 7 Professional
    Windows product key: *-* - M3DJT - 4J3WC-733WD
    Windows license Type: OEM SLP

The key to your report is your OEM SLP key which can not be activated. This isn't the key to COA.

but the key I tried to use is what I copied on the COA the day I got the computer of the book where I put all the information on my computers.

Is the product key in your book is the partial key in your report?
You must change the product key to the one on your COA.
Check your compartment of the COA.
The other solution is to reinstall your Dell OEM recovery disks or recovery partition. This self will activate your computer.
    Additional information:

Computers, which are built by large manufacturers provided with pre-installed Windows are supplied with 2 two product keys:

    (A) OEM SLP: this key comes pre-installed in Windows, when it comes to the factory. This key is designed to work with the special instructions isn't on the hardware of this manufacturer. Then, when Windows was installed using the OEM SLP (in factory) Windows 7 key leans on the motherboard and he sees special instructions and activates. (that's why you had no need to turn on your computer after you brought it home)

    (B) COA SLP: it's the product key that you see on the sticker on the side (or at the bottom, [or in the battery compartment]) of your computer. It is a valid product key, but must be used only in certain situations (for example, if the OEM SLP key stops automatic activation for a reason any). The key must be activated by phone. (Note: all manufacturers that use the SLP OEM system are bound by contract to include a certificate of Authenticity sticker (COA), which has a COA SLP key, on the computer)
