Aperture or iPhoto for features

I have used Aperture for a few years and am not sure if she has more usable features than iPhoto. What is the consensus of the two applications?

Clearly, opening has a lot more features that iPhoto - iPhoto is a free program of consumer and the opening is a professional software quite expensive - of course, both are at the end of their life, because Apple has stopped development on two of them (9.6.1 iPhoto and Aperture 3.6 in the last editions) - only Photos will be updated in the future

There was no justification provided by Apple.  Since the introduction of Photos Apple has added several features and will probably add more in the future if there is enough feedback.

  • Why can't add photos from iphoto for my film? Only works with Photo Booth.

I can't add a picture of my iPhoto for my movie library, although it clearly said in the Help menu that I can. It will highlight only photobooth to choose.

Looks like you're looking in the import window that is in the wrong place. In the main iMovie edit screen on the left in the library list, you should see listed iPhoto library. SELECT and in the upper part of the window is a pop-up window where you can choose to display the faces of events, Albums, etc. I assume you are using iMovie 10.x.x.

  • Transition of the side customer for features on the server side

QUERY: I have recently decided to make the transition from the client side for features server-side and I want an overview of the forum regarding the best application for a feature on the server side.

BACKGROUND: MobileMe from Apple Computer recently told me that they freeze all their. Mac to MobileMe accounts. This means that my entire Web site will remain visible in the address online, but I no longer able to repair some of its content. There's two possibilities: transfer all my files in the new domain name of MobileMe or abandon Apple as my host online.

Transfer the contents of my site to the new environment of MobileMe would devastate my online presence. He was frozen in time by simply letting the. Mac field would be a slow and tragic death. Faced with this choice, I decided to find a new host that allows content server-side. In doing so I will satisfy an important long-term, although prematurely - goal also namely, features on the server side.

Recently, I contacted Akamai Technologies and identified a reliable global service of web hosting called Rackspace. They promised to call me tomorrow with an offer, and I have to be ready. As a user of Apple dedicated with a high level of mobility, it is probably wise for me to host my own site on my own computers.

PREFERENCE PRESENT: without any consultation from anyone I would choose PHP, simply because I remember having read that it is free and open. Furthermore, I see him often as an extension when I surfed, and he seems to be very popular. That said, I know that there's much more out there, and I'm very well versed in Adobe CS3 Master Collection.  Finally, I have until tomorrow to get ready.

What application would you recommend and why?

Just curious, why do you think that you need a dedicated server?  Do you think that abnormally noisy or you host a great entertainment / media site with huge bandwidth needs?  Most of the people do not require a dedicated server.

Take a look at Lunar Pages.  They offer very affordable hosting plans with unlimited space and bandwidth from as little as $5 per month.  I have a dedicated server plan with them for a media site that is priced well under the 100 $par month.  Here is the full service plans too (they maintain and upgrade of servers).  You get email accounts and an Admin Panel with lots of extras.   Check them out.  http://www.Lunarpages.com/ID/NancyO

  • How do I import photos from Aperture high ground for inDesign

I did a bit of research on this but it seems that nobody has found a good way to do it.  However, it seems simple enough...

-My photos are in Aperture 3.x.

-I just got inDesign CS6 to create a book.

-I can click and drag images from Aperture to inDesign without problem, except that... it brings in the preview.  Not the file full ground.  I don't mind working with the preview low ground of course... as long as it brings then size one at time of export.  But this seems not to happen.

System: iMac 24 ", Mac OS 10.8, all the latest version of the software.

I guess I could start by exporting all the photos on the desktop, but this would be an additional step of your time.  There must be a better way.  Uhhhh... right?

    Thanks for any help.

    Lookdenfer

You mean like by selecting 'View of the icon' from 4 different display modes at the top of the Finder Windows?

You can also adjust the size of the preview with the cursor on the bottom right window in icon mode.

Click on the images below in the forum to see a larger view.

Or as "Point of view Coverflow" one of the other points of view. You can scroll through the photos using the arrow keys on your keyboard.

Or by clicking on the icon of one of your photos, press the space bar on the keyboard.

You can then use the arrow keys left and right to scroll through your photos. The following photos will replace the current photo on the screen.

Or if you have Creative Suite, you can use Bridge to view your photos at the same time. There are also some other features in Bridge. You can even drag photos directly from bridge to InDesign and it will automatically create links.

In more recent versions of Mac OS x and InDesign, you can even drag the photos directly from the Finder in InDesign and it will automatically create links.

  • Desperate: iPhoto for pictures

I tried to put my old IPhoto library on a new drive of Toshiba, in the format of newspaper expanded and then tried to drop and drag it in Photos. No dice.

I'm always in Yosemite, because my iPhoto went with the update of Maverick (still angry that there was no big warning, missed on this subject).

So, in short: my photos are saved and external disk on a Time Capsule. How in tarnation do, in Photos?

    Best regards,

    spencejam

Try running the Photos while holding down the button options, until you see the selector library panel. Select the library on your Toshiba drive. Does it work? If this is not the case, what happens?

What version of iPhoto you use? This was iPhoto 7.1.2 or more, you need. To run the iPhoto library upgrades to prepare for the library for the migration to the Photos.

  • How can I go back to iPhoto? Photos does not things I'd need iPhoto for.

With iPhoto, I could easily control the images that I wanted to download and save.

I could order them by year. Each year I could order date and name of the event. I could edit quickly and easily images - this morning, I spent 3 hours trying to straighten an image. This can be done in the Photos. I've even returned to paste my picture in Windows P {powerpoint to try the image of an absolutely horizontal level plane... without success there either!

What can I do? I now haw about 25000 bulk total images and an another 45,000 that I managed to save her from being devoured by pictures that are carefully stored on Mac that I dared not to update. What can I do? I need these images, I used every day for my work. I need them where I can find them when I want the in a sequential order ready edited and not just took by a PO from a phone I broke my number when parking in the parking lot of the airport.

    This is serious.

iPHoto will doesn't go away - you have it in your Applications folder and it works very well (for the moment - sooner or later a future update will break) If you are up to date - you need the current version 9.6.1 - if you keep things not up to date see cannot update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store

  • iPhoto for El Capitan

I used iMovie so long that I forgot the actual name of the function in which the user can include an image in the timeline to replace the original image (for a length of time selectable). I think it's 'cut '.

In any case, when I try to use IPhoto, a message indicates the version of El Capitan is not available in the United States. And when I try to bring a JPEG image from the directory, there is no function chafed, only "insert." For the work I'm doing this makes for me, no need to iMovie.

    Any ideas?

I found the answer, simply drag the photo (or pinched as they call it in one of the videos I found) on top of the image to where the image is to be inserted.

  • How can I move my library iPhoto for WD My Cloud?

I have a MBP 2011 OSx 10.9.5 running with a 320 GB hard drive which is full (only 4.5 GB of free space remaining).  I'm not being updated lately b/c I don't have disk space to do so.  I have an iPhoto library 164GB I want to spend.  I backed up the iPhoto library on a WD My Passport without any problems.  I have a WD My Cloud 2 TB NAS.  I want to save my iPhoto on the NAS library so that whenever I want to access iPhoto I can't plug my DHM.  Or if I travel and you want to access my photos I don't have to carry the EHD with me.  Essentially, I want to use the NAS to accommodate my iPhoto library for access to daily and then use my passport EHD to perform manual backups on a regular basis, so I have a backup of the SIN.  My question... How can I move my iPhoto library to the NAS and it work to use the SIN as the point of main access for my photos?  Thank you.

Short answer: you don't have. It is not a supported disc format and you risk of major loss.

Long answer: iPhoto must have the library sitting on drive to Mac OS extended (journaled) format. Users with the library sitting on disks formatted also regularly report matters including, but not limited to, import, export, save the changes and photo sharing.

    See this article

    http://support.Apple.com/kb/TS5168

to learn more. Also note the comment:

"In addition, store the iPhoto library on a network rather than locally on your computer can also lead to poor performance or loss of data."

This is doubly true in the case of wireless connections: If you try to change the library (i.e. make albums, move pictures around, keyword, brand books or slide shows etc.) or edit individual photos in it wireless be very cautious. Dropouts are a common reality of wireless network, and does it happen while the app is written to the database, then your library will be damaged. Simply, I wouldn't do this with my libraries.

If disk space is a problem, and it is very definitely for you:

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled)

    1. quit iPhoto

2 copy the iPhoto library to your folder on the external drive.

3 hold down the option (or alt) key when launching iPhoto. In the menu that appears, select "Choose Library" and navigate to the new location. From there it will be the default location of your library.

4 test the library, and when you are sure that all is well, trash on your HD internal for free space.

MacOS Sierra will update my photos from iphoto? I always use the iphoto on my current iMac. The last update from Apple (pre Mac OS) had problems with photos do not import not titles and records resulting in loss sevice... years in folders... and photographs that have been titled gonzo! Sierra install pictures. If you are using iPhoto 9.6.1, you can run it as before; older versions that came from the Mac App Store, or with a Mac provided with 10.7 or newer can be Update 9.6.1.
