  • I am running Microsoft Windows XP Home edition Version 2002 Service pack 3, use the 32-bit or 64-bit upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium?

running Microsoft Windows XP Home edition Version 2002 Service pack 3, used the 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade?

I followed the instructions on the card that came with the software... indicating that, if I look at my computer it was telling me that my computer works... either 64 or 32, but it does not work.  So my question is, how do you know?

You probably have the 32-bit version of XP (in most individuals, and if your system properties page does not have 64-bit, then you have 32-bit.)

However, if you now have XP 32 - bit or 64-bit XP isn't the issue that relate to your decision to install 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7.  This decision depends on the question to know if your hardware can support a 64-bit operating system.  In this regard, the main reason for users to install a 64-bit operating system is to allow the use of more than 4 GB of RAM.  If your hardware does support more than 4 GB of RAM, there is no interest to install the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

You run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor?  With what results?

Click Start > run and type msinfo32 in the "Open" box and click OK.
After the system information window has had time fill, click Edit > select all, and then click Edit > copy.

  • I'm temporarily using a diesel powered computer, running Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3

I temporarily uses a computer filled with diesel fuel, until I can afford to replace it with an updated model. It is using Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3.
The problem is that it's totally out of memory and as far as I know, I deleted everything I can, short of service packs and security features, such as malware and anti virus.
I do a disk Clean up and Defrag on a regular basis, but it shows now that I have zero remaining memory.
Anyone know how I can free up more memory?
    What happens if I delete ServicePack 1 & 2?
What happens if I use the restore disc came with the computer? It will remove everything and I start with a clean slate?
Unfortunately I can't replace this computer for a few months more, what should I do?
    Thank you
    Monica

You run lack of disk space, not memory, if that's your hard drive, you're referring to :-)

If you have the service pack installation files on your PC, you can probably pick up near a GB removing them (most likely you do not have).
You can remove security updates uninstall files and pick up some space here: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13880_3-9862223-68.html
If there are programs that you use rarely or never, you can uninstall them.

If you use the recovery disk, it most probably restore you to the day; No program, no service pack, no update of safety, nada, just WinXP right out of the box. I wouldn't recommend, unless you have nothing better to do with your time than to reinstall all your stuff. And if this isn't in SP3, then you will not be able to download updates of security.

If you have a little cash on hand, you can always get a bigger hard drive and clone this player to the largest (most new hard drives come with software to do). Or if you have geek friends who save ALL their old stuff (like I do), maybe one of them would have a replacement part that they would be willing to give you. Wouldn't hurt to ask :-)

  • How can I reboot an Acer Aspire One / Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3 from scratch?

My Acer Aspire One / Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3, (laptop/netbook computer - no disk drive to insert a disk or anything like that,) only has 1 GB of memory/160 GB of storage and is far off in the ORIGINAL manner, he came, I need to start over from scratch and reload BitDefender 2011 top.  :(  I can't do it for me take MSN messenger/etc out of it, backups fail, etc..  Does anyone know WHAT to do if you can't insert "recovery disk" (no), and doing it this way?  Thank you!

Do you know how to back up your data first? Once you do this, you can follow these instructions:

    http://support.Acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/0000/Acer/AspireE360/AspireE360faq40.shtml

That being said, why do you do this? A clean install (or its equivalent) is rarely necessary.

I would appreciate an answer to this question as soon as possible.

Windows XP has "unzipping" software already installed...

"For xp in zip or unzipp R.click just a file, folder, select" send to ", select zip ' or 'unzip '.

the wizard will run automatically. Also, you don't need compress folders that contain backup files, in fact one of the

best ways to create a backup are executed the Transfer Wizard files, either from the xp installation cd or xp tools better.

When the wizard starts, select "old pc" select "other case" Browse in a new folder that you created. Once this

housing starts, select files, folders, settings, etc. you want saved once through, move the folder to hd, or on a cd. Once through, these files can be used on any windows platform with all included youre data.

  • Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002) include SP1 is the Virtual Machine for Java (MSJVM) installed on this and future Service Packs Microsoft remove it?

While the installation of Microsoft DirectX 9.0 c on my Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002) operating system (not sure if the 2002 version in it's original state included SP1), EULA (EULA) provided the contract included a paragraph stating that "ONLY in regards to THE VIRTUAL MACHINE MICROSOFT FOR JAVA, YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED to INSTALL THIS OS COMPONENT ON A MACHINE THAT CONTAINS A ALREADY the VERSION OF THE MICROSOFT JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE". Assuming that the MSJVM was included with Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002), I advanced and accepted the EULA. I then downloaded and installed Windows XP SP2 and SP3, but wasn't sure whether SP2 and SP3 removed the MSJVM in any point. However, research on the question, I discovered the site "FAQ of Transition MSJVM" (updated May 7, 2004), who answered the question: ' if I install Windows XP SP1a or later, it will remove my current MSJVM? " with "No, the operating system upgrade will not remove a MSJVM existing on the computer" (http://www.microsoft.com/about/legal/en/us/interoperability/java/faq.aspx). However, I can't find any instance of it on my computer.

    So my questions are:

    1. Windows XP Home (Version 2002) Edition include SP1?
    2. The MSJVM is installed on this version?
    3. SP2 or SP3 removes the MSJVM in any point to?

Do you have an error message when you try to install updates?

I suggest that you put your machine in a clean boot State, then try to install the updates. I suspect the involvement of a third party software conflict.

Note: Do not forget to put your computer in normal mode.

  • Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 SP3 / Internet Explorer 8

Enlarge / restore button at the top right of the window disappears (becomes faded) and the blue bar at the top of the window becomes also faded and everything stops working. If I click on the blue bar that crosses the bottom of the window, then the blue bar at the top of the screen becomes blue original, but enlarge / restore down button isn't always fair. If I wait for 2 to 5 minutes, then enlarge / restore down button goes back to normal and everything functions correctly. When I try to go to various websites, this problem occur, and I am not able to maneuver. Also, when I type, when I hit the space bar, the page jumps and the cursor disappears when I was typing. In addition, in the upper left corner of the window, the Internet Explorer icon disappears when the problem arises. I don't know if it is a windows problem or a problem with Internet Explorer.

  • Computer dv4324EA laptop, Windows XP Home edition, Version 2002

I want to replace the drive HARD 40 GB HDD with a SSD 120 GB.

I can't find designs for this purpose.

I to this is posible in this notebook? Please help me.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See Page 5-8. Your laptop is so old, it's using PATA hard drives (not SATA). They do a PATA SSD, but frankly, they are more expensive that the laptop is worth. Here's a 128 SSD PATA concert which works perfectly.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820208894

I fell into a couple SSD PATA, someone gave me and I have improved a few portable older on the vintage of yours. There was a major improvement, although much modern material progress are not present. The drive is just considered as a hard drive, but you always get the best speed, warm-up, etc.. I'm not sure about investing $150 in this laptop. They have some PATA SSD smaller and cheaper at newegg.com.

  • Portege M700 - need drivers for Windows XP Home edition x 64

    Hello

    I recently bought a Portege M700
It comes preinstalled with Vista on the disc.

Now, I got an original Win XP x 64 and all my programs are not really compatible with Vista. If I want to install Win XP x 64.
I have install Windows XP Home edition x 64, but there are no drivers for it, only for drivers vista and Windows XP tablet pc edition.

Is it possible to find the drivers for Windows XP Home edition x 64?

Someone at - it already had a problem like this one?

in any case thank you already for the answer.

    Hello

I doubt that you can get 64-bit drivers for Windows XP for this laptop from the Toshiba driver page.
I didn t find drivers for Windows XP 64 bits for Toshiba laptops.
Why? I think the Win XP 64 bit was not so popular like Win XP 32 bit and most of the applications have been designed for XP 32 bit OS.

If install you XP 64-bit on this computer, you will have to look in the various 3rd party Web sites for the compatible drivers
