  Thank you for posting.  As a gamer, I have an idea of what might happen.  It seems that the configuration file for the game is not correct or may be corrupt.  Unfortunately only EA support for the Sims 3 can really help you with this problem.  I suggest that you stay in control of their forums or contact their support team.

  Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

• Application has stopped working - dll files appear to maintain cause a lot of applications on my PC Vista crash

  For several weeks now I have experienced an error where my apps keep crashing, and I get an error message "Application stopped working" Windows.

  I use Vista Ulitimate, with service pack 2 now loaded. My PC is a strengthened high-level consumer GM5446E of Gateway with Duo Core processor and 8 GB of RAM. I use it for multimedia design (web and graphic work for the most part) and use Adobe Creative Suite 4 applications on a daily basis.

  I had a lot of problems in the past with this PC and even had to reinstall the operating system twice already. The second time I bought a retail copy with a 64-bit version of Vista to make the most of the processor.

  I spent about 6 hours on the phone with tech MS representatives this week already. Each of them tried the same thing - ran checkdisk, downloaded Malwarebyte Anti-malware and ran that (says there is no infections), and finally each of them says: I'll need to reinstall new OS. The second said he would not advise to initially because since I have service pack 2, it should be a complete reinstallation and since I have so much software loaded on my computer (thousands of dollars) it would not be a very good solution. But finally after trying everything, he says, it's the only option left.

  Details on my problem which he said, is that research on the history of reports on problems and Solutions (which contains a list of 36 progams with a total of 277 reports of errors (for most Application errors) stopped working, I was told that the culprit on each instance is a .dll file in the application that caused the error.

  The last agent suggested that the problem was caused by a virus that probably has already been removed from the computer, but had already corrupted .dll files. The problem I have with this explanation is that I was not able to run a virus scan since long before the beginning of this problem (because of Norton anti-virus is not responding on my machine) so how would the virus have been removed? If there is a virus that caused the corruption of the files .dll on my machine, I think he would still be here (which is apparently not the case as Malwarebytes found no infections).

  Does anyone have an experience with an issue like this that could confirm or deny the solutions suggested so far?

  Please, do not assume that the system is clean because the chances are that it is not.

  No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy to detect malware
  is often accompanied by a much more difficult to detect and remove the payload. So much better to be too full now
  than to pay a high price later. Check with them to an extreme exaggeration, and then run the cleaning only when
  you are, of course, that the system is clean.

  It can be made repeatedly in Mode safe - F8 tap that you start, however you must also run them
  the Windows when you can.

  Download malwarebytes and scan with it, run MRT and add Prevx to be sure that he is gone. (If Rootkits run UnHackMe)

  This type of error can be caused if the Visual C++ library runtime components are missing or because of a third-party software.

  Follow the steps below:

  If the problem is caused by the lack of Visual C++ libraries, you can download and install the Runtime components of Visual C++ libraries from the link below:
   
  This error can occur when the Microsoft .NET Framework installation on the computer is damaged or is missing.

  Try it out below step to reinstall and repair installation of Microsoft .NET Framework on the computer, then check if you can install the software.

  (a) click the Start button, select Control Panel, click programs and then click on 'Turn Windows has or not.' If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  We use Coldfusion 8.  Did someone knows a way to set permissions on a file server, so my users in my cfapplication are the only people who can access the files in a specific folder on this server?  I ask this question because we have a lot of public folders on this server, and now we want to add some FLEURIDAS only records private through people who use the application.

  If what you're asking is "how to set a folder on my server files so that the files accessible through my CF application using tags such as CFFILE are the only ones who can access", then the answer is 1) change the connection information for the services of the CF to the LocalSystem service to a domain account to give this account admin privs (2) on the server only files, provide access to the domain user that you created in step 1.

  However, if your CF application allows users to access this folder through mechanisms such as the HREF links (IE, the account to access the folder not on behalf of CF, but the user who is logged on to windows running in a browser), then you must put these users in a group and give that the only way of access to the Group folder.

  #1 scenario assumes that your CF application made a sort of authentication so that he knows who is allowed to use it to access this folder.

  Just curious, why do you think that you need a dedicated server?  Do you think that abnormally noisy or you host a great entertainment / media site with huge bandwidth needs?  Most of the people do not require a dedicated server.
