  You can try this...

  If you have another ESX host to add the data store to which the template is stored.

  After that browse the data store and go to the directory of the model. Select the model VM file and add it to the inventory and select the host on which you want to add the template... After you have added the host convert VM...

  Tanav,

  This error comes when Assistant failed to get the value of vmx import file. You can create a new virtual machine it and attach the existing drive and then try again to import the virtual machine.

  If you have shared storage on the connected server, you can simply vmotion between hosts. No need to import the virtual machine from one host to another.

  I had to migrate our VCenter Server Appliance VM (5.5 x) that uses the database into another ESXi host.

  Once the VM has moved successfully from one host to another, after the virtual machine restarts, I'm not able to connect to it.

  I get the following error: Client is not authenticated to the Service of the inventory of VMware - https://web-vcenter1:10443

  I searched and followed many articles KB including KB 2037952 with no luck. I refreshed the

  I fixed all my issues in upgrading the VCSA to the latest version. Version 5.5.0 Build 2414847

  Other treatments VCSA had already been upgraded to this version and it worked very well.

  PS: You were right - I log in as root and not as an administrator and this is why I did not see the SSO pages.

  I'm not aware of any limitations with VMS Exchange migration. Anyway, you can consider running the migration during the low workload.

  Welcome to the forums!

  Convert it to a virtual machine (right click on guest and choose the appropriateoption), move it through the migration feature (right-click Guest, and then choose "Migrate") and convert into a model (right click on guest again and choose to convert to a template).

  If I install ESXi 5.1 on a new host. Can I ask my host profile that was created using ESX 4 Host.

  No you can't. If you went to a former host to the version 5.1 which do not have the host applied profile, you can create a new profile of the host of this host.

  Basically, the profile of the host's specific version for major versions 4.0, 4.1, 5.0, 5.1. Even if you manage to apply an older profile for a new host things might break everything.

  An example: how would host ESXi 5.1 know service console ports? He only knows vmkernel ports.

  I just want to check that vCenter 5.1 (b) Auto deploy does not apply the profile of the host, he attaches it only. I understand that IP address entry/configuration is necessary when the profile of the host application, but I was wondering if it was possible to automate even that.   As long as the profiles of the host requires any input it will not apply and ESXi will remain in maintenance mode.

My requirement is to have a cheap solution of DR - in case of failure of a host, I need to move and start VM on the host of work. How to achieve without going through VMware Infrastructure 3.5 and vMotion?

  If the virtual machines are running in shared storage (two guests see the same storage iSCSI or NFS) then it's simple. If a host goes down, then look for the data store on the ESXi host work. Navigate through folders for each virtual machine, right-click on the VMX file and add to the inventory. You will then be able to turn on the virtual machine.

  To move a virtual machine from one host to another, as long as both hosts had the same processors, you can pause the VM on the single host, browse and add the virtual machine to the inventory on the second break host and the United Nations.

  If the virtual machines are on local storage, but the two hosts are connected to the same shared storage, clone virtual machines on a daily basis from local storage to shared storage. Use something like ghettoVCB http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-8760 make the clone. In the case of a server failure, you will be able to browse the data store, add to the inventory on the shared storage and switch the cloned machine.

  It is the first virtual ESXi 4.1 on the host one called ESXi41-1 that has a motor on the virtual from Windows XP Pro machine.

  It's the second virtual ESXi4.1 on the host one called ESXi41-2, which is where I'm vmotion Windows XP Pro VM at.

  The network cards are on 1000 full duplex.

  Any suggestion or help would be great. That's what I'm working with and try to get good at my VCP exam.

• email problem - "mail from the host cannot be found.

  Why I have problems with my email migration to Windows Mail? I get an error message stating my "mail from the host cannot be found. This has happened on and off for the last 2 weeks.   You can specify... is your operating system Windows 7, or you are running WIndows 7 in a VM on something else?

  Make sure you have the latest video drivers.

  If you use windows, make sure that hardware acceleration is turned on.

  If you see no problem and everything works, then ignore it.

• How to disable the device Alias in the profile of the host

  Could someone tell me how this is acutally done, documentation VMwares seems to go in the circle on the subject:

  Apparently if you have guests who are not identical, but you still want to use the host profiles to configure items on a new host you can disable the device alias but they never say how.  The closest thing is to change the profile of the host and remove the sub profiles do not require you, I found, but it does not work.

  Any help with this would be greatly affect.

  Just wrap everyone is facing it:

  

  Simply remove the Alias Configuration of device in the profile of the host and this error will disappear.  Yet only once if your hosts are not exactly the same.
