    Rgds,

    To the Shaw feel Yeong

    Hello

If you want to test your server, there are a number of things that you might need to do, simple attack complicated. It depends on what you want to achieve, attack type, for example, server operating system application.

But that simple could use ICMP/ping attack or attack SYN TCP (you can easily get tools on the Net).

Perspective PIX of firewall, you will probably need to active built-in IDS feature, limit the embryonic level and open ICMP to the target server. Make sure your ACL allows ICMP and authorized service port requests to pass through. In addition, make sure that you enable syslog and probably set for information or debugging, to capture the log.

PIX will easily pickup the ICMP attack based on the ID services, while for the attack of TCP - SYN (targeted to your application via ACL), you can see the attempts of the newspaper.

If you have any security software installed on the computer it would take more time for the backup center to back up files. Try to disable security software and try to make a backup and verify.

If it works fine afterwards, enable the security software.

    Hi abangmamat,

Thank you for posting. You can protect yourself against these types of attacks using Windows or a third-party firewall.

If you are vulnerable to a SYN attack, you can do the following.

    1. click on start, then run.
    2. in the run window, type 'CMD' and press 'OK '.
    3. in the command prompt window type: netstat - n tcp Pei

Look at the output for the entries in a SYN_RECEIVED State. If you notice several entries, your system is vulnerable to attack.

I hope this helps. After the back if you have any questions.
