Audio workflow for Skype necessary records

Hey everybody,

My name is Quin and I did a podcast in my spare time. I use Adobe Audition for both multitrack and registration work, and a recent addition, I did the podcast is recording Skype calls with some people. I wanted to bring in Audition to work with, but I found it quite difficult. First of all, Skype audio settings are (as shown in the screenshot below) quite limited.skype recording.png

The same files they are audio only - are saved in .mov format and I when I put them in hearing, they are open as stereo audio files with four channels (I think it's the phase) even if they audio seems to be exactly the same in both channels.

Screenshot at Nov 09 18-35-09.png

I use the range markers to find audio clips I want to insert into the multitrack view. Records that I do at home (inside the application of hearing) with microphones and an apogee Duet, the sound comes out like this:

Screenshot at Nov 09 19-38-24.png

This audio is really easy to segment and a non-destructive mix in audition multitrack mode. I can use a Bus, and transform this audio in stereo simply (the audio appears in both channels)

What I'm trying to discern is the best way to take the first section of the audio (with four channels) and send it to the multitrack. When I take a marker of the .mov file range convert and send it to the multitrack mode, multitrack audio levels are far away. Only half of the audio comes as amplified and I can't use a bus to mix to the point where the noise levels are correct. It looks like this, which is not at all what the original noise levels were recorded (see the first screenshot of the display of waveform above):Screenshot at Nov 09 19-41-44.png

Does anyone have a suggested workflow for how I can convert this audio so it aligns the recordings that I make at home? I tried several methods, but they all seem quite long and contrary to intuition and I would really like to hear some busy people more professionally on how I can do that, ideally, reducing to a minimum the number of destructive changes I make to the original audio file. If I do an initial conversion, it's cool, in which case I'd like to hear some suggestions on how to do the same.

Thank you very much for your time and help,

Quin

It is quite easy to get rid of the duplicates. If you click on the track controls (the L R boxes and on the RIGHT side of each track) you can turn off each duplicate, and then they will appear gray on the screen. Then go Ctrl + A to select the entire file and then Shift Alt + C to copy the selection to a new. Only the operating range will be copied, so you'll end up with just both sides of the conversation in stereo, which is what you want. You must save this, and it becomes your working copy. There is another advantage to this as well - will now change you a copy of the original and the original will remain untouched, so you can always go back to it. It is still considered to be good practice!

  • Internal audio first difficulty for QT Player records via microphone effects?

Very specific situation: I'm in a classroom works with limited software Mac, otherwise I would use Audio Hijack to check and have no problem.

I'd like the students to be able to save no matter what music they find online (fair use) to bring in a first Pro CC 2014 movie they do. Unfortunately, Quicktime Player 10.3 offers only recording via internal or external microphone, NOT via the audio output of the system. So I get a lousy record.

Original audio is the first 30 seconds of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqS4balvbsA

    Thanks for any help!

I don't think there is a way to do what you want without having to install any additional software or external hardware solution - such as recording audio from the Mac for a recorder externally (via a cable plugged into the headphone output of the mac), then the ingestion of this record in the project.

  • Improve my workflow for the video of the Interview: lowering of the tips

I do the video interview constantly and I record Audio separated from the video. But I'm still perfecting the Workflow of the hearing.

A quick 1 minute video that shows my entire audio workflow (accelerated exponentially) is attached.

Step 1: Import audio in Audition

Step2: Comb through the audio and to lower the spikes (for example, the beginning of a sentence where the voice comes out stronger than the rest of the audio) so all the audio levels are compatible

    Step 3: After step 2, use effect/Amplitude and Compression/Normalize (process) to dB - 2, 00

Step 4: Capture noise print (background noise)

    Step 5: Noise Reduction

I feel like there is a much faster way to do step 2 that I'm missing. A way to automatically detect the spikes which go above x level and lower level x?
The end result of my approach is good, there are just a LOT of time.

    Any recommendations?

You must do your second stage before the third stage, and the third step is to use either the dynamics or (easier) processor single band compressor.

The first thing we do is to normalize your signal to 0dB - it's because all the dynamic processing uses as a benchmark. As a general rule, you use the single band compressor, you need to do next is to the threshold point about the level of the majority of the speech, so that the peaks are above this. Then set the compression ratio so that it is quite high; anything over 15:1 will do - this will have the effect of turning the compressor limiter, and this is the way to make your step 2 automatically. Now re - normalize to the level of what you want.

There are good alternatives. What is obvious in CC is to use the speech Volume Leveler, who will do all the foregoing and also allow you to restore the level of the speech later at once. Once you have the settings right, you should be able to do all the work in one shot (just not to use blocking in the advanced controls option - it will destroy any attempt to NR).

Now, personally, I'd do the NR before all of the above, but as long as you only compress and do not attempt somehow signals the door, is not serious in particular. The reason to do is first you can hear more clearly what you will end up with the rest of the treatment.

  • The volume control in the mixer Volume for Skype is always set to very low for new calls.

    Hey all!

It's really annoying to have to adjust the volume in the Volume mixer upside whenever there is a new call. I have no volume of speakers set to automatic in the options, and I have no idea what else controls the adjustment for volume.

It is not enough that Skype (now a Microsoft product) can't understand the audio, I use as ANY OTHER program (i.e. for other programs to plug my headphones is enough sound to be redirected here but NOT for Skype. For Skype, that I have to go into settings and change the sound output device!). I use Skype for a few years due to its good call quality, but if I can't find a solution for this I have to change to another similar product.

    My system is a 64Pro of Win7.

All ideas will be more appreciated!

    CAK

    Eureka!

There is a setting in Windows 7, I don't know about other versions - (tab Communications/sounds/Control Panel that tells Windows to automatically reduce the volume of other sounds when the PC is used to place or receive calls.

Skype is SO smart that it reduces the volume of itself too when there is an incoming call, and so all incoming calls have a lower volume.

To solve the problem simply to set the option to "do nothing"...

.. .and continue looking for alternative software replace Skype. Unfortunately Ms. are actively trying to destroy a good thing...

I can't Flash the bios with BD1_BIOS (V4.80) _Update (is it possible to install the sound card?)

    THx for any help

    Hi Salomon82,

I created a similar thread about audio drivers for Windows 7 on Satellite P100:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=191495𮰇

It seems that the Vista driver works also on Windows 7! :)

In addition it s not necessary to update the BIOS for the installation of sound card drivers because first of all, you should try the correct driver.

  • Audio capture for purpose of demonstration...

One of my developers a problem reproducible randomly with check-in demo mode in captivate. Usually happens in Visual Studio 2008, the event record set, and all recording works perfectly, record audio, where the last 5% or more are cut completely at the end of the event.

I am at a loss to explain it, or find a solution for it, as there seems to be no specific trigger for this. It works sometimes, others you end up reshooting the last slides 1-2. Not huge, but a bit boring pain undermines a quarter of an hour with each roll forward.

Doesn't seem not serious if something is clicked after audio suspends, or you stop recording through the end key or clicking captivate in the taskbar.

Works perfectly in captivate 3 with the exception of the trim bug, I found a fix for, you should look, because it is so perfectly integrated, that it's almost automatic. Record in separate files in this case would produce an excessive amount of work, is no longer justifiable. The main reason I went with captivate is he gave me a my developer tool didn't need to learn that they could do whatever they had to in it with three clicks on the button. I thought go to audition or even a tape recorder integrated to accomplish the same thing, but I found that it added too much complication to the process.

    Solution:

Captivate 3 has apparently no method to check in the form of active data, so, when you are finished recording, it simply clips its judgment at the previous recordable event. An easy way to ensure that this does not happen is to click on save button in the application that you save before hitting the end (end of record).

  • "Workflow" for Slow Motion DSLR

Hi, I've been experimenting with the creation of idle smoothly in a calendar of 1080/25 and questioned on the best workflow. (I used a Canon 70 d, stipulating that 50 frames per second at 720)

So: Chronology 1080/25 Pro Res FCP7 (majority of the 1080/25 source footage)

I want to add a short section of idle and for that I shot in 720/50 - but of course it is made at 25 frames per second when added to the timeline and playback is stuttering when 50% of the speed value.

So I sent the clip (at 50%) to 4 Motion and applied optical flow - this provided a smoother playback

(I tried to optical flow on a clip of 1080/25 to 50% but reading stuttered slightly)

I just wanted to confirm if it is the best workflow for idling smoothly.  Also when I tried to apply the optic flow on a second Motion 4 already 'optic flow"selected clip, but when I clicked on that nothing happened - I had to close out Motion and start over with the clip under a new name.

  • How to change the audio output for the metronome

    Hello

I would like to send the metronome (and speech signals) for monitors to the scene in the ear.

I understand that I can do this in MainStage using different output for the above titles vs. the rest of the 'Concert '.

I tried to follow the instructions of the Manual:

Change the audio output for the sound of the metronome

    1. Choose the MainStage > Preferences > General.
    2. In the section of metronome on the general tab, choose another audio output on the shortcut menu to exit.

    PROBLEM

    1. on the general tab, only the outputs 1-2 are available/selectable (likely, these are also by default for all "Concert")

    2. Why is this process in the manual if it is not executable (without doing something to another additional Set up)?

    3. it's probably among the requirements of setting up more critical even easier for using MainStage with a live band, so why am I having to ask for help at all!

Rant on (its been a long day)

Grateful for any help to solve cela. I guess I can send the metronome (such as a click track) and speech signals on the same outputs, which are separated from the rest of the Concert... or should I change the outputs on the other tracks and keep the outputs 1-2 for the metronome marks / voice?

Thanks in advance for all advice and my apologies for my frustration. JM

To access the output audio, you need an audio interface with several outputs.

    Hello:

For the dc7600, the best thing to do is to go to the realtek website and download and install the latest driver for the audio.

Accept the agreement. Download and install the driver either the 1st or the 2nd on the list depending on whether you have installed W7 32-bit or 64-bit.

    http://www.Realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?langid=1 & PNid = 24 & PFid = 24 & Level = 4 & Conn = 3 & DownTypeID = 3 & getdown = false

I have a dc7800 CMT and I used the audio driver from the support page and driver and it worked perfectly for me, so I can't help you there.

I used the one on the link below.
