Automated backups

Hi all
Is it possible to allow backups automated to a peoplesoft database installed on windows-2003(32-bit) environment with oracle 10 g. If so, how? Thank you for giving the link

What type of backup you talking about? PeopleSoft is nothing else than a database. With respect to all of the databases, backup must be taken on one way or another. RMAN backup are obviously one of the best backup solution, but there are others. But there is nothing special because it's a Peoplesoft database.

  • How to integrate the catalog PSE in automated backup?

    Hi, I'm going to set up a backup process automated for my computer to a remote ftp site. Including my pictures are simple, but I don't know how the PSE catalog could be reliably. The help of someone who understands how this work would be greatly appreciated.

    One way that could work, even if it requires manual steps is backup in PSE. After the backups from PSE, I would include the PSE-backup files in the automated backup. The obvious disadvantages are that I have to:

    -do it manually in PSE

    -keep the files backup-PES locally, as an interim step in the procedure, pending automated backup to ftp site.

    I am considering the solution below, that would be more interesting if it works:

    1. instead of keep the catalog in the default location, I offer the catalog ('my photos') in my "D:\Data\PSE9" as a location directory in the file-> catalog dialog box. I guess I have to do this from within the PES.

    2. the "C:\Data" directory (where all the images and the catalog is now located) is backup place automatically at the remote ftp location.

    Now, let's say I have my hard drive fails and all the data is lost. So I re - install windows & PSE. How would then restore the catalog and the files? This procedure might work?

    3. from the remote backup, I restore all the files in the directory "C:\Data", including photos and the catalog folder "D:\Data\PSE9".

    4. now comes the tricky part. I assumed that I would go into file-> catalog and select custom location, set the location custom to "D:\Data\PSE9".

    5. I then would see the 'My photos' catalogue in the custom location, just as it was before the accident?

    6. then I guess that I just opened the catalogue 'My photos' and everything is back to the way in which this is the last backup time.

    This procedure would work and actually produce a reliable backup that can be restored without any problem? A caveat which I foresee is that I would have PSE closed when the backup is actually running, so that I get the file list in the middle of some update or changes. But I can live with.

    Thanks for any help and suggestions on this.

    To put it simply, I guess that your backup already deals with all types of photos and media in your catalog.

    Do not forget to backup included in the Organizer treats these files as the catalog itself (the database).

    Where the catalogue? Consult the menu help/information system. You will find the location of the folder that contains the catalog. This folder contains several files and subfolders. Just include the folder and its subfolders in your current backup.

  • How to stop automatic backup?

    I want to manually copy the files from the phone to iExpand. Is it possible and why do I still go on a Forum to find the answer to this one? I don't want the automated backup as it changes all the names of the files of gibberish... I want my files to keep the names I give them.

    Thank you very much. It worked. I'd rather have control... Thanks for the quick response. Happy now!

  • Backup drives off-site rotation and Vista

    I have automated backup set to run once a week on an external drive.  I have 2 drives external 1 TB identical.  I want to turn a drive off-site on a regular basis of the semi - once a month maybe.  When I turn a drive in, Vista will recognize such things it believes that it already saved is more on target and to fill all the changes since the last backup on the freshly turned disc?  Or Vista restarts with a full charge whenever I have one of the disks in rotation?  Both disks must have the same name of the drive or Vista will be ok with a drive name different than that currently attached to the system is always assigned the same drive letter?

    Hi Peter O FL

    Welcome to the Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

    As you have two external drives to save data, once you connect the first hard drive windows will check the last back up and doesn't save changes and refresh it and it's the same process with the other hard drive also.

  • Unnecessary number of backup controlfile

    Dear Sir

    Here is my script to take a daily backup of my my prod system:

    {

    allocate channels ch1 device type sbt PARMS 'ENV =(NSR_SERVER=xxxxx)' =;

    backup data format "XXXX_ t_ %s %";

    cross-checking of backup;

    ARCHIVELOG backup all the format "XXXX_ t_ %s %";

    overlap archivelog all;

    backup current controlfile;

    }

    And out of all is:

    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' TO '%F ';
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO "%F" # by default

    But the problem is: when I took the backup with this script, I can see there are backup automatic the spfile and controlfile after each backup command. as after the backup of database compltes, it took a car controlfile bkp, after thn after archivelog backp... and so on... There are 4 backup controlfile who shouldn't be.

    Everyone guess why this is happening? My version of db is 11.1.0.6

    Kind regards

    My guess is that if you rearrange and rewrite your backup script, you'll see less automated backup controlfile.

    I guess you see a backup controlfile after your backup to the base, the second is after your backup archivelog, the third is when you save the controlfile explicitly and the fourth is taken automatically after backup current controlfile.

    Controlfile backups are performed whenever a backup folder is added.

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E25054_01/backup.1111/e10642/rcmconfb.htm#autoId9

    If you are running your script as follows, I'd wait only autobackup controlfile is taken.

    {

    allocate channels ch1 device type sbt PARMS 'ENV =(NSR_SERVER=xxxxx)' =;

    backup data format "XXXX_ t_ %s %";

    ARCHIVELOG backup all the format "XXXX_ t_ %s %";

    cross-checking of backup;

    overlap archivelog all;

    }

  • Address of Firefox 39 bar does not

    The address bar does not work. I type the address and press ENTER, but nothing happens. I also tried clicking the arrow to the right of the address bar, but who does not work either. The rest of the buttons work. I tried refreshing Firefox, uninstall and reinstall Firefox and from Firefox in safe mode.

    Hi kbuckler,
    Sorry, you have problems with Firefox.

    It is certainly what is now a known issue (Bug 1180419) affecting users with a corrupted database history and bookmarks.

    There is a difficulty of finding the Firefox profile, while Firefox is open. Closing Firefox. Rename the file places.sqlite (say places.sqlite.broke1).

    Firefox should then work on reboot. Unfortunately, you lose the history. Loss of history apart from his obvious loss also affects the use of the autocompletion of the location bar (aka awesomebar) and your newtab tiles.

    See for this

    but I'll put the instructions below. (Based on windows see the articles if needed similar information, Mac or Linux)

    Find the profile

    Click on the menu {(trois bar icône) button click help {(?)) and select troubleshooting information.}} The troubleshooting information tab will open.
    In the section the Application databases, click [Open Directory]. It will open a window with your profile files.

    Closing of Firefox
    Find the file called places.sqlite in the profile folder, you have opened.
    Rename this file. I suggest you call it places.sqlite.broke1
    Restart Firefox.
    Firefox will re-create the database, using the latest automated backup, there when it is restarted.

    Change of name, rather than deleting.
    If history or specifications according to it are very important there are advanced methods that can sometimes work in the database file broken attachment. The file has been renamed to - broke1 will serve a copy that you might consider to try to fix.
    The renamed file also leaves open the door to research methods of bookmarks lost if for example some very recent bookmarks were important and lost.

  • Lost all my favorites after my dept IT messed with my computer.

    I came this morning and my computer was in place. My Department I.T. staff has spent an hour playing with my computer, and when I got back on my machine, it failed to Mozilla Firefox. They came back and restored to Mozilla, but they lost my favorites and replaced by very old favorites of IE. I don't use IE except when it is required for some programs, if bookmarks are extremely outdated.

    How can I return my favorites? I tried all the difficulties that I can find online, but I can't find an archived date before today. Am I missing something somewhere?

    I searched the Windows Explorer for all files with the word in them bookmarks. I found my last automated backup from Friday and was able to restore my old favorites. Main problem is trying to find with the instructions found on the Internet, my I.T. Department has disabled being able to find files in AppData. When I found the Friday backup, I copied to my desktop and was able to restore from my office.

    I have found a workaround which my I.T. team has setup to keep staff to fix their own problems.

  • Possible to set the cache of management by file type rules?

    I have a large cache, thus being able to search through my history of navigation for web pages, and see previously clicked links regardless of how long I clicked on them, however, it occurs to me to avail myself of this advantage, that I also have to leave FF to cache everything - text & javascript of junk old cookies, and hundreds of dollars of megs of photos and flash bits that make the web look pretty.

    I'd like a way to set expiration dates on the cache according to the types of files, for example htm/html: never remove. Cookies: perhaps, rules-based, I put (possibility to add filters etc. would be cool), photos and videos: a week or two, etc...

    I guess that it does not yet exist as I can't find any reference to it during the search and it is defo not natively available via the basic interface. The amount of work would be to develop, and everyone would benefit from this service?

    Don't know where it would be better to discuss this, but you will normally not developers reading messages in this forum. Probably better to try to look at this list:

    You can ask a bug, ask such a feature, but it would be much better to try to find someone interested in the job or accepting to be first.

    It produces also tome that what you may be most interested is just history and not necessarily cache, because probably you just need the link retained rather than the content itself. You normally try again looking for the cache rather than history?

    The story itself now by default goes back very far and doesn't start to restrict things if bookmarks are too large. (Not too sure at the moment where the links are, but I remember changes in the algorithms may be a year or too ago).

    Another point is that short of copy your places.sqlite file has no way of history backup, there is no automated backups. (I know I accidentally erased history recently, the fake profile and not him did not support long)

  • How to retrieve a bookmark deleted?

    I had planned to take my computer to a technician and wanted to take my bookmark out of the Office for reasons of confidentiality and remove a bookmark that I now want to go back. I try to avoid to rebuild. Is there a way to get it back, or will I have to start over again?

    I don't think it's possible unless you have backups.

    However, if you have not deleted your history and you have visited the site recently you find it in your history. (For example open the site marked with a bookmark and remove by clicking on the icon star bookmark edit).

    The other possibility is that he is still in one of manual backups, you did.
    but I guess that you wouldn't ask if you had backups.

    Or as long as you did not delete the backups that makes Firefox (or profile) you can try to recover from their part hold account of the warning to make the backups before and after each attempt to restore given that restores to replace what you already have.

    It is advisable to make backups manually on a regular basis, if you do not have another automated backup system.

    Still another possibility is that if you use the synchronization, you can be able to recover from the other device or the synchronization server.

  • Difficulty finding a WD external hard drive after update to 10.11.4

    Hello
    last week I updated my OS to El Capitan 10.11.4.
    After that, I have problems, make a backup on my external drive (Wester Digital MY Passport Ultra).
    After reset total of my iMac, the backup runs once, but the hourly automated backup stops.
    A manual start is not successful.

    The external hard drive is visible in the finder, but clicking the map Backups.backupdb, nothing happens. After a reboot all backups are still visible.
    It seems that the external hard drive is dismantled after the initial backup.

    Time Machine is running, HD connected properly.

  • How to change the boot order in the BIOS?

    I have a gateway computer. I recently bought a WD My Book Essential external hard drive. It took me a while to change the setting to get the computer to boot with the connected outside of the bios.
    WD has maintained that the hard 'C' drive must be the first point for the system to look for, now it's third. I entered the BIOS and highlighted the 'C' drive, but I can't figure out how to move it to the top of the list.
    I entered both boot menu and I have the same problem, how do I move the 'C' drive to the top of the list.

    First of all, 'you' here are just a bunch of volunteers with varying degrees of knowledge and expertise - we are not Microsoft.

    The "IBA GE SLOT" is the option to start on the network.  This should be the last for most people.

    You don't need really SmartWare of WD.  It is an automated backup solution.  Once you have performed the initial backup, SmartWare runs in the background, automatically update your backup, you change files on your primary hard drive.  It's a good thing to have, but if it does not work, you can perform backups manually (or in a variety of other ways).  The important thing is to actually do the backups, however, you choose ultimately make.

    I don't know anything about SmartWare, then I can't recommend against her otherwise than to suggest that you look in Event Viewer (start > run > eventvwr > OK) application log for any errors that have come from SmartWare.  If you find something that could help you - or WD support - to understand what is happening.

    I wouldn't worry too much about a 30 second delay between the Windows startup screen and go to your office.  Now that you mention it, I sometimes feel a significant delay subjectively, but I never associated with the My Book - maybe it is linked.

  • What is the difference between the terms "system" disk and the disk of "boot"?

    I have a Setup to dual-boot with Win7 on 2 hard drives so I can choose which drive I want to work with the Win7 OS (long explanation on why it's like that, but it works best for me).  In the management of disk/storage/computer management console, the disks have descriptors which: "Healthy (System, boot, Page File, active, crash dump, primary Partition)" - for the selected disc on the screen of choice of Dual Boot OS, and 'Healthy (active, primary Partition)' for the drive with the operating system not selected in the display to Dual boot.  I understand all the terms except 'system '.    'System' is always indicated on the disk that is designated as the startup in THE BIOS disk, regardless of the choice of OS in Dual boot screen.  For example, if I select the operating system to dual boot screen that is on the other drive (not designated as the startup disk in the BIOS), there the descriptors "in good condition (boot, Page File, active, crash dump, primary Partition)", while the disc selected in the BIOS as primary boot drive will tell "healthy (System". (, actif, Partition principale) ".  I don't know if the term "System" refers to the fact that the drive is the main in the BIOS, or if it refers to the location of the operating system.   I'm setting up automated backups and need to know on which disk the operating system is operational - I guess that he should be the one selected to dual boot screen, but the 'System' descriptor on the other drive is confusing.   Thank you, I of course would like to have clarification.

    Hello
    Too bad this naming convention is therefore against intuitive, but the "System" partition on a windows computer is where files needed for the computer to 'boot '.  It is normally the first partition on the first drive listed by the bios of the computer.  The partition of a windows computer "Startup" may be localized to more than any other disc and contains at least the files for the windows operating system.  Looks like you have a system dual boot where one of your windows 7 version is installed on the first primary partition which is where the necessary files to the computer to 'boot', that's why in every case, it is identified as the "System" partition  It is good practice and can be less confusion with a multiboot computer to create another "System" partition, then install each operating system on a different partition.  This way if you have a problem with one of the os, you can reformat without making the computer unbootable.  It also simplifies backups. This separate partition may be only 200-500 mb in size.  You probably wouldn't do that now, except if you're feeling adventurous.
    See you soon

  • Is it possible to save the xp mode virtual machine?

    I was wondering if there is an image that I can back up so I did not reinstall every time I reformat

    Hello

    Yes you can do it manually.
    Here's how:
    1. open Windows Explorer and navigate to %USERPROFILE%/Virtual Machines. It is the default location of the files vmcx. You will see a Windows XP Mode.vmcx file. This XML file contains the full path to the files that make up your virtual machine. The default full paths are:

    %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows virtual PC\Virtual Machines\Windows XP Mode.vhd

    %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows virtual PC\Virtual Machines\Windows XP Mode.vmc

    2. When you browse to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Virtual PC\Virtual Machines, you can see additional files depending on the State of the virtual machine (that is, is this hiberated or not). If the virtual machine XP Mode is put in hibernation, if these additional files will appear:

    Windows XP Mode.vmc.vpcbackup
    Windows XP Mode.vsv

    3. the vmc and vmc.backup files are XML files that contain full paths to vhd files. If you restore on a different path, you will need to modify the XML files so that all file references are accurate and consistent. Windows 7 does not a VMS-specific automated backup.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows 8.1 Photo files

    I have a lot of photos on my hard drive.  They are all .jpg format and they are deposited in many files.  In each case, Windows (I guess) has created a folder (a 943... long folder name) and there are smaller versions of the pictures in these files.  I have to keep these records?  (The problem is an automated backup who has an amazing job with all these extra files).  What is their value?  Thank you.

    Windows does not have something like this, so it must be from another program as a Picture Manager or maybe a photo library tool.  Maybe even conversions for a portable device like an ipad, or some such.  But still, no value for Windows and you are free to remove them if you do not want, because Windows does not have ' t do.
