How to change the boot order in the BIOS?

I have a gateway computer. I recently bought a WD My Book Essential external hard drive. It took me a while to change the setting to get the computer to boot with the connected outside of the bios.
WD has maintained that the hard 'C' drive must be the first point for the system to look for, now it's third. I entered the BIOS and highlighted the 'C' drive, but I can't figure out how to move it to the top of the list.
I entered both boot menu and I have the same problem, how do I move the 'C' drive to the top of the list.

If anyone can help I would surely enjoyed it.

First of all, 'you' here are just a bunch of volunteers with varying degrees of knowledge and expertise - we are not Microsoft.

The "IBA GE SLOT" is the option to start on the network.  This should be the last for most people.

You don't need really SmartWare of WD.  It is an automated backup solution.  Once you have performed the initial backup, SmartWare runs in the background, automatically update your backup, you change files on your primary hard drive.  It's a good thing to have, but if it does not work, you can perform backups manually (or in a variety of other ways).  The important thing is to actually do the backups, however, you choose ultimately make.

I don't know anything about SmartWare, then I can't recommend against her otherwise than to suggest that you look in Event Viewer (start > run > eventvwr > OK) application log for any errors that have come from SmartWare.  If you find something that could help you - or WD support - to understand what is happening.

I wouldn't worry too much about a 30 second delay between the Windows startup screen and go to your office.  Now that you mention it, I sometimes feel a significant delay subjectively, but I never associated with the My Book - maybe it is linked.

You may or may not need to change the BIOS settings.  Assuming that you have a bootable CD with this tool, put it in your CD drive and restart the computer.  One of the 3 things will happen:

    1. the computer starts from the CD and you can follow all instructions you have Symantec.

2 watching very carefully that the computer starts.  You may see a message that says something like "press any key to boot from the CD-ROM.  If you see this message, press a key (for example, the space bar) and the computer boots from the CD.

    3. watch very carefully that the computer starts.  You will see a message that says something like, "to change settings, press F1."  The key that you press on will be different depending on your particular computer.  It might be F1 or F10 or del key.  Whatever it is, press this button and you will enter the BIOS configuration utility.  From there, you can change the boot order to CD first.  Directions to navigate the BIOS Setup will be displayed on the screen, but they will involve using the button tab, enter, and arrow keys, because your mouse does not work in this utility.

  • HP Probook 440 2 How to change the BIOS to work around the memory not supported the start-up message

Hi everyone, first I would like to say that I find the list of operating system for the less "interesting".

    Now, I bought a G2 to replace my 4441S.

The problem is that the momory I had gave me a message as "memory not supported."

very well, I bought new memory, same problem with 2 brands, so I it's maybe because I bought 'normal' memory and not DDR3l?

The thing is that I need this memory quickly and I can't find DDR3L, now I use corsair Vengeance and I need more on the lan function but this message that allow me to use the computer if I press on enter, have no countdown with option by default and no BIOS settings so I want to change that and either add a timeout that starts the laptop or just disable this message , because it works, I use it now.

I need that until I can find the DDR3L.

    Thank you.

You don't seem to understand how it works with primary and secondary memory voltage settings schedule and bus. the laptop BIOS ROM file includes settings in its encoding of the memory modules that meet the compatibility requirements. If you install memory that has not been tested for compatibility, so it will not work or even it seems to work, it will be unstable.

A BIOS of the laptop is quite unlike a BIOS that is present in a motherboard level amateur games. There are no timings adjustable and tensions to the timings of the memory or bus in a laptop BIOS BIOS standard voltages. It actually is to protect the owners from themselves.  You "do not 1.5 and 1.35. You can't change the setting of the voltage on the bus to do anything other than what is defined in the BIOS. If you install the module memory does not accept the voltage set by the BIOS code, then you are simply out of luck.

  • How to change the bios of my computer?

I want to change my computer's bios so that it does not seek to boot from an external drive.  How do I do that?

    1. read the manual of your computer.

    OR

2 turn off your computer.  Turn on your computer and monitor very closely the screen.  You should see a message go quickly indicating something like "Press F1 to enter Setup".  Turn your computer off again.  Turn it back on and immediately start typing the key that you have identified.

    OR

    3. provide the brand and model of your computer, and a person may have information for you.

  • How to change the boot order for the applications to the taskbar?

When I moved to W7, software of my trackball wouldn't work and Kensington wouldn't fix, so I moved to a conventional mouse. I recently bought a better mouse and it has its own software. The software works very well, the problem is that it starts towards the end of the boot sequence. I would like to start earlier. The problem is that all the research I've done changing the order of departure come back with how to change the order of display in the taskbar.

How can I change the boot order for the applications to the taskbar for the software for the mouse, boots earlier in the list?

Windows does not have native to adjust the boot order, but there are third party solutions. See

    Hello

/ Configuration settings (BIOS/CMOS) often F2 start you so look at the screen - boot order should be set to
Hard drive 1 for normal operation.

Sound like you may need to run the repair of booting from the Vista disc.

This tells you how to access the System Recovery Options and/or with a Vista disk

Try Options recovery or a disk of Vista startup repair.

Also from the command PROMPT on the Console (if possible) recovery or a Vista disk

    SFC/scannow
    Press enter

    and after that runs away

    Chkdsk /f /r
    Press enter

    (Spaces between C and / k and / and f and /)

Retry (if necessary) after Chkdsk startup repair.

    I hope this helps.

I can't figure out how to change the order of playlists within folders or find iTunes help topics that address this issue.  Please help, someone!  Thank you.

In a playlist folder iTunes sorts the smart playlists in alphabetical, followed by regular playlists in alpha order.  It does not provide a way to change this.

  • How to change the Legacy USB Support on hp phoenix h9 - 1215t?

I was wondering if anyone knows how to change the option of existing usb on the phoenix from HP support. I tried to find on the BIOS, but I had no chance.  I want to change it, is because I want to use my hardrive external without unplugging and pluggin it back everytime I turn on my computer.

    Hello

I see that your particular PC is not active UEFI. You can check that the information provide in the BIOS.  Version 7 is not UEFI. If you start in the BIOS (tap button to power up the ESC) and then press F10 computer for installation.  Now, go to storage topics and then select Boot Order. You should be able to move the hard drive on it to the top of the list of Legacy devices and then save the settings.

I saw on some latops legacy USB option as a separate selectable parameter.

If you access your movies in the Finder folder, then Ctrl-click on the folder of the theatre, you will find your movies to the poster
