Backup in Windows 7 error 0x8007045d

Recently (since last month), I've been doing 0x8007045d 'I/o device error' during backup Windows 7 x 64. Here's a little history of the problem:
I upgraded my computer with a new motherboard / CPU / memory and did not make a clean install, I'm aware that is not recommended and I knew the id to have a few problems, but everything went well.

I ran windows backup backup my hard drive on my network drive Netgear Stora. I received an error "volume shadow copy". I have researched and solved the problem.

I was then able to make a SUCCESSFUL backup and my computer did his weekly backup with no problems.

Then I started having the "I/o device error" 0x8007045d when backup is 57% (preparation of the backup)
I have run chkdsk/r administrator in normal mode and safe, I tried to disable my antivirus from symantec, I tried to send the backup at once of my readers network, all with the same result.
The system works well, I can say in all other respects and were broadcast on the new material for about 5 months.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, really, I don't want to do a clean install of windows, so im trying to avoid that if possible. Thank you!.

    Hello Windows7newuser,

I suggest that you run the disk check to check if this is due to bad sectors on your computer:

    a. Click Start, type cmd in the start search box, right-click cmd.exe in the list programs and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    b. at a command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

    CHKDSK X: /R

In this command, x is a placeholder that represents the drive letter of the volume you want to check.

You can see the bottom of the article for more information on this:

This article is for Windows Vista. However, it also applies to Windows Vista.

Note: Running chkdsk can cause loss of data on your computer. I suggest that you back up and save all the files before running chkdsk.

  • Backup of Windows 7 - error 0 x 80080005

I am running Windows 7 and trying to back up my system.  Whenever I go to control panel > system and Securiy > Backup and Restore > backup configuration, I get the message:
«The backup application could not start due to an internal error: the execution of the (0 x 80080005) server failed.»

I have administrative rights on the machine.  I did a search online and tried a few things, but nothing has worked.  Any ideas?

Either incidentally, all notes on this in Windows that I could find are Windows Vista and dated 2009.  Very confusing...  Something concrete for Windows 7?

honestly for this question, I would ask this question in the technet forums only because I see more reported stuff out there.  I've included a few other links on this topic.  I hope this helps, but honestly the windows backup utility is not the greatest.

  • How to fix error 8007045 D message when you perform a backup of windows?

I got in trouble, make a backup of Windows of the Sony VAIO laptop from a parent on a 1 TB drive "My Passport".

Backup failed to complete (the system image + backup windows).

When I did a regular backup of Windows, all files selected by Windows, it worked.

When I then try to make the system 'image' backup, I get the following:

    ===========================================================
The operation failed because of a device error encountered with the source or the destination.  If the volume of the source or the destination is on a disk, run CHKDSK /R on the source volume or destination and then retry the operation.  (0x8078012D)

    Additional information:
The request could not be performed because of an i/o device error. (0x8007045D)
    ===========================================================

I ran CHKDSK /R on Passport drive, and it passed.
The USB is formatted to NTFS, if that's relevant.

When I accessed the system utility checks the C drive, he had me to restart the computer and the drive for errors on a reboot of audit, but which did not find any problem.   I guess I need to start from a CD instead of starting from the hard disk, in order to be able to run the "CHKDSK/r" on the C: drive as well as two other partitions.

Am I missing something?  Should I use the "boot CD" we created, boot in the BACK and then do the CHKDSK /R on the C drive?

(I'm really uncomfortable about messing around with C drive until I have a backup, but because of a possible problem on the C drive, I can't do the backup... or is there something else I need to do next?)

Thanks for all the suggestions; I'm going to go through one by one, so I can learn about them.

This afternoon I contacted support for Microsoft Windows and had a "chat" with one of the support technicians.  He told me to START to > ACCESSORIES > COMMAND PROMPT that I clicked on and does: "run as administrator.

I then entered: chkdsk /f /r so that I was in a directory on the C drive.

(I'm guessing / r means read all the information and the /f to fix any problems that are found).

The computer has restarted and began a long inspection of the C drive, taking about two or three hours or more.   Meanwhile, he finds two clusters defective and added to the table 'bad cluster.  I took a picture of the screen, so I don't know what file he has identified as having problems.

The process is complete, the computer restarts, and I was able to make the "system image" backup without any problem.

Thanks for your help.  Between you and other colleagues at Microsoft, not only, I know what it takes the next time, I have a better understanding of what is happening.  (How to mark this discussion as "resolved"?)

  • Error 0x8007045D when you try to install Windows Vista SP2

    Hello

Currently I have Windows Vista SP1 and want to upgrade to service pack 2. When I try to do the update of Windows, I get "error (0x8007045d) Error_IO_DEVICE. I also tried to install it in safe mode, I get the same error message. After having traveled a bit on the internet, I found that it is probably because my HDD is damaged... so I run the chkdsk program...

The chkdsk program stops at 16%... Step 4 of 5... When 85785 files off 300000something files are done... and it does nothing more. It keep running like this all night, it goes no further.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I need to do to successfully install Windows Vista SP2?

    Thanks for your help!

OK, I started the computer with the Windows CD and I ran chkdsk /f at a command prompt.

Chkdsk /f found errors it corrects.

I ran Chkdsk/r... .he got stuck after scanning 85763 files... near the place, he would always get stuck (85785 files)... so I guess it's the same file that crashes chkdsk.

The good news: I still have a functioning computer.

The bad news is that I ran the SP2 from windows update in new safe mode and it didn't work... I'm still stuck with my problem.

I have an extra hard drive... that I ordered from Dell for my girlfriend's computer, his computer died before she could use the player, but it is larger, then the drive of your computer and it is brand new... the only downside is that the player has been implemented for the computer of my girlfriend (pilots and other things) and does not work in my computer. I guess I'll try to format that drive to make it work in my computer... it should fix this and then bad SP2 remedial power very well.

I guess I have no choice.

I suggest to remove avg (uninstall) then try sfc/scannow then chkdsk /f several times. a few times, they need more going to make things more

Microsoft security essentials is a better a v for not update couseing problems.

You can allways put avg in the back.

not having is not enouph to free space for temporary files can couse problems too.

  • Getting the 80070005 error during the backup with windows vista home premium then closes backup

When I use backup in windows I get errors then backup closes. the errors were 0x800700AA and now 0x80070005. I'm not familiar with what they mean but have tried Fixit without success.

    Hi Brian,.

This error code means that the file or folder you want to backup does not have the necessary permissions.

    Method 1:

If you need to make a backup of any file or folder, please ensure that give you all the permissions for that particular file or folder.

To set the permissions of files, see the procedure below:

    a. right click on the file or folder and then click Properties.

    b. click the Security tab.

    c. under group or user names, click your name to see the permissions you have.

    d. If they don't get permission, click on change and give the full control.

    e. then check if you are able to backup.

    What are the permissions?

Method 2: Check if you are able to backup by following these steps:

Try to temporarily disable your anti-virus and malware during execution of the backup. If the backup works fine, then you have to search for updates and firewall settings in the security software.

Note: Make sure that you enable the antivirus software, other security and firewall after the test programs.

    Method 3:

    Disable UAC during backup control.

Enable or disable the User Account Control

Note: Make sure that you enable user account control and the back of the antivirus on the computer after you complete these steps. It is not recommended to disable these settings on the computer. It's just to solve the problem.

original title: backup Windows 7 error code 0 x 81000037

    Hello

I have the same problem two days ago. However, I had installed Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) at the beginning when I bought my computer Dell (dec 2010) (I have not used McAfee). Two days ago, I ran backup on my disk network as usual and got the error message, but I noticed that the MSE has detected a threat to java. I decided to uninstall all downloads in two days ago, and the most important was to run a COMPLETE SCAN of MSE. He caught 3 java threats and withdrawn. After that, I ran backup again and it worked perfectly. I hope that this experience will help someone when I post my response.

My computer is a desktop i-5, Dell, Windows 7 Ultimate, my network drive is connected to Linksys E3000 of Seagate.

Note 1: I regularly MSE update later.

Note 2: I went through the so-called "reparse points" and without success.

Note 3: Download those that I uninstalled everything came from Apple (please don't hurt me I don't like Apple.) I just wanted to test in all circumstances.)

Exactly the same problem and same solution: run Full scan in MSE (which found a few 'malware' which is associated javea), then uninstall java worked well!

Error 0x8007045d is "ERROR_IO_DEVICE" - "the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error."

    Hi Jamshid,

I understand the inconvenience that this may cause.

This problem could occur due to the corruption of system file by the program that you downloaded.

The fixit or any program you download on the internet could be a source of pollution. It is not recommended to install the advertising programs.

To resolve this problem, I would like you go to control panel and remove the program downloaded.

Here is the link to remove the program.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/uninstall-change-program#uninstall-change-program=Windows-7

You can also use the System File Checker scan to remove the corrupt files.

SFC (System File Checker) is a tool that scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

See the following article for more information on using SFC tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

To ensure that your computer is virus-free and spyware, run a scan online using the link below.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Keep us informed on the status of the issue. We will be happy to help you.
