banking on surface is it safe

I have the RT Surface and wonder if it is safe to do my banking online

Hi Shelby,

You use Internet Explorer or any apps to make banking transactions online?

As sure as the use of all other PCs.

In order to ensure that an online transaction is secure, look for the following text:

The web address begins with HTTPS prefix. The "S" is important because it means that a protocol called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption is used to connect to a web server. The prefix HTTP (without the "S") means that encryption is not used, and the transaction is less secure.

If you receive a message in the Notification bar telling you that some content is not secured, then displays the webpage content using both HTTP and HTTPS web server connections. HTTP (without the "S") transactions is not sure.

A lock icon appears on the right side of the address bar. Click on the padlock icon to view the certificate used to encrypt the Web page. The certificate identifies the certification authority that issued, dates it is valid and the server, with which you are communicating. If something looks wrong in information, contact the sender to confirm the validity of the certificate.

  • 31 FF can't do online banking with the Bank of Montreal, not even in Mode safe

I can connect to my bank account using FF (version 31), but anytime I can be cut with the message "Session has expired or you have not logged properly." Certainly, the dreaded message will appear when you click on the button to finalize a payment. My (rare) modules have nothing to do with this dysfunction, in Safe Mode too I cut before long. No problem with IE or Chrome, that I started to use. For your information, I had this problem with FF on different computers (all current W7 of execution) and various domestic networks.

  • The padlock icon indicating that a website is safe never appears on sites like paypal or my bank sites. How will I know if it's safe for me to use?

I'm moving to use IE8 for Mozilla Firefox. When I access my banking Web sites and Paypal on IE8, the secure lock icon always appears next to the address. When I try to use FF, none of the Web sites show all icons padlock secure, so I'm afraid to connect to these Web sites using this browser.
This sounds really weird as I thought FF was supposed to be safer. If the padlock icon does not appear, should I refrain to connect to these sites?

Check the extended certificate of Validation is much more important than a padlock icon, which can be "faked" by a Web site.

The current versions of Firefox appear, so if you don't see something wrong with your user profile Firefox.

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the lock is there. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that disables some settings and disables most Add-ons (extensions and themes).

(If you are using an additional theme, place you in default theme.)

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Mode without failure of Firefox in the Help menu by clicking on the restart with the disabled... modules menu item:

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

Once you get the pop-up, simply select "" boot mode safe. "

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. Please follow the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

  • Finder screwy except in safe mode

Yesterday my finder started acting weird. New windows would not display the folders and files correctly, regardless of the mode, and I could not navigate through the files or boxes in windows. The search function provided the empty windows. The office became inaccessible, followed shortly after by the dock.

Regained control of some last night even if a restart of the command-opt, but the finder always does not work normally. Today, I did a boot cold (shift key) safe mode, which allows the basic finder functionality, too small. I need a real difficulty. The fact that the finder works in safe mode, logically, gives to think it's a software conflict rather than a hardware problem. I do not know.

The disruption has surfaced, on the other hand, when I was customizing the toolbar, move the search bar more far to the left, is visible in small windows. Which may or may not be causal. I know just the ability of my finder to find things is obstructed upward.

Someone has to meet this problem before on Mavericks? I am running 10.9.5. All wisdom welcome here.

You could try to remove the /Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist file and the Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.finder file. Then relaunch the Finder by pressing the COMMAND-OPTION-ESC keys to open the Manager tasks. Select the Finder, and then click the restart button.

If your folder/Home/Library / is not visible, then see the following:

Three ways to make the House/library folder Visible

    A. this method will make the folder visible permanently. Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder, and paste the following at the command prompt:

    chflags nohidden ~/Library

    Press RETURN.

    B. click on the desktop, press the Option (⌥) key, select library in the Finder menu go.

    C. go to the folder in the Finder menu select go. Paste the following text in the path field:

    ~/Library

    Click the OK button.

  • After the last update when you connect to the inernet banking banks 2 after 5 seconds erases information and connection information must be re went and then is ok

The banks are ANZ Australia and Natwest in the United Kingdom. Different log in details.
For ANZ, I type in account and password. The fields clearly and if I am slow last part of the password is displayed in account.
Account is above password and entered first. NatWest connection is different, but the same thing happens.
I have deleted the cookies and cache.

    Hey there mwwatkins.

Just a few things seems to me first, as Web sites are cool before you can complete the entry of your details. First thing I would check if something suspisious was happaning on an internet banking site would be to ensure it's the correct Web site and that it is safe. This can be done by seeing if there is a small green padlock at the top right of the window next to the address of websites, ensure it is there and the name of the company that has applied for security is the same as you try to access as natwest banks PLC.

If it's all guarantee them and correct then I will seek to update flash, as many banks now use this plug-in to improve the user experience, if this is the cause of your problem, so he did not this.

Let me know if this solves your problem, but I advise to contact your bank, they have good representatives who are experts in dealing with problems of connection and I would hate for you to have problems with such a newspaper in.

    Bradforth.

It's annoying that Firefox does not allow to see the details of my bank account online.

  • After registration to my banks website account page appears, but then 10 to 15 seconds later the screen turns white and then reload the page. Why?

I have reset the browser firefox, deleted all caches and cookies and deleted and restored my bank account online. No matter what I do account page always seems to cool off at least two times before that I can move forward. I tried to use other browsers and they work very well without the slightest trace of this problem. Any ideas please?

  • Cannot open in a page Web, on the page of the Bank opens a new tab and indicates that the site has moved here, but when you click on the button here it still does nothing

When I go to internet banking as a clydesdale, it opens a new page to connect, but a few days ago it stopped working with the new update. Now when I click on connect, it says "FOUND the document pushed here." and clicking here opens another page of connection, but after being entered the details the page doesn't load. the same thing happens on other sites, on the other, when I click to read the messages page does nothing, and if I click to open in a new tab the same page is displayed instead.

Theres been other people having this problem too...

Yes, for example, that this person- https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1078226 -, but they did not post cost around if any suggestion made a difference, I appreciate your following upward.

Here are two other things to check:

    (1) connection settings - have they been customized?

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > advanced

Click the mini network, and then click the settings button

The default value of 'Use system proxy settings' should follow your 'LAN' setting, as well as IE, but you can also try 'No proxy' to see if that makes a difference.

    (2) extensions - test Firefox to turn off Safe Mode

Firefox Safe mode is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

Does not work if Firefox: Hold down the SHIFT key when you start Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

    and OK reboot.

Two scenarios: A small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not update).

    Any improvement?

  • I can not access my bank online using Firefox.

New computer with Windows 10. Can access the Bank using edge. Tried to disable all extensions and start in Safe Mode, but still not able to access bank account.

The extensions I am running were those I used on my old PC and don't cause any problems.

Hi, can you describe the part of not being able to access more details - you get from for example specific error messages?

  • New problem has developed. I go to a site (my bank account) and try to open the print icon. It flashes for a moment and goes. Also happens other places

Occurs on several sites. My banking site - when I go to my account and then try to click on print a Bank Reconciliation window flashes and then goes. My health care provider site - went there today and I tried to click on the "explanation of benefits" related to the visit of a doctor. The link appears and disappears immediately.
Problem just started a week ago.

A new window starts to open and close? I get the same thing with the third link on this page:

    https://jeffersonscher.com/RES/PopIt.html

I wonder if you have security-related add-ons that can detect and close the pop-up windows... Could test you mode without failure of Firefox? It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions.

    Any difference?

  • Mozilla will not dialogue with my Bank even if ABP is disabled

Firefox won't chat with my Bank, although ABP is disabled.

    Hello

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

  • One of my computers works very well to display my beneficiaries of my bank online and the other computer says that I don't have any beneficiary, worm 35 on both.

Everything on my online banking Web site works fine except the display of my beneficiaries. It does not, he tells me that I don't have any beneficiary. This function works very well on my backup computer with 16, 32, and 35 versions.

    That's what my Bank said:
There was some problems with the compatibility of Firefox to view online recipients. Please, try the following steps to clear the cache and delete cookies. If there is still a problem, start Firefox in Mode safe. While you are in safe mode, press the < Alt > or < F10 > to display the toolbar. Then select Tools > Options > advanced > general. Find and stop using hardware acceleration.

Boot in safe mode to fix the problem, but it's a bit of a pain. A refreshment or a reset seems a little drastic and I would like to know what exactly is the problem before using the shotgun approach.

    Thank you

Thanks for the replies. I have try to disable hardware acceleration, but probably no connect fees. My only add-on is edge of adblock and I disabled it for the site. The thing is, I don't want to disable either of these elements. I'll just start firefox in safe mode, if I need to access my beneficiaries. I was hoping that someone may know something that is bad in my profile that has carried over from previous versions or another kind of corruption. It seems strange that an entire site could work very well with hardware acceleration, but not to this one point.

  • I get "the connection was reset" etc. When connected to my Bank.

When you are connected to my Bank (business account) and the implementation of weekly payments I can put up a couple of them, but then I get "the connection was reset" error etc. If I try to log in again I just get the same message.

So I have to open Chrome, you connect to the store and finish the job with no problems at all. Usually I prefer to use Firefox; but maybe not for long!

You can try the following steps in case of problems with web pages:

You can reload webpages and ignore the cache to refresh potentially stale or corrupt.

    • Hold down the SHIFT key and click the Reload button
    • Press 'Ctrl + F5' or 'Ctrl + Shift + R' (Windows, Linux)
    • Press 'Command + shift + R' (Mac)

Clear the cache and delete cookies only from Web sites that cause problems.

    "Clear the Cache":

    • Firefox/tools > Options > advanced > network > content caching Web: 'clear now '.

    'Delete Cookies' sites causing problems:

    • Firefox/tools > Options > privacy > "Use the custom settings for history" > Cookies: "show the Cookies".

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
  • VNC access can be allowed safe?

I recently came home and noticed that my iMac was doing something weird. It seemed that someone was remote control desktop and display something which relates to access to an account of the Wells Fargo Bank via a browser. I pulled the ethernet cable and rebooted the machine, and after a forced restart found that there was a kind of screen remote control application installed on my machine (I made no remarks and can't remember what they called the app) and my backup drive was locked up. Fortunately, the backup drive was only a matter of changing the permissions of the owner. I wiped the drive, reinstalled OS X (El Capitan), retrieved my data from a backup, and everything seems OK.

I want to know is that there is a safe way to allow remote access to my computer or not. I still had ssh and vnc active and enabled for these services on my router, port forwarding so that I can access my machine remotely. I have no idea how my machine was robbed, but I guess it's to guess the vnc password. (The vnc password was also the admin password, which would explain how they managed to install the software). There are vnc on El Capitan vulnerabilities that allow a user access without password? Several times looking for different passwords an effective attack in this case? Allowing the two-factor authorization should take care of password guessing if this is the question.

I would really like to be able to continue to access my machine remotely, but only if this can be done in a more secure manner. Thanks for useful tips on how this can be accomplished.
