Best approach for the transmission of data and images

We you write an app that will allow the user to take a picture of a document and enter a few bits of information about the document and then send it to our server. It is a mobile extension to a larger system of document management to back office we develop in-house so the intention of this BB app is not not to distribute to the masses.

What is the most practical approach to transmit data and images captured on our server?

-FTP - fooled with it some and a pain

-WebService - did not attempt

-Send an email with the picture attached - seems to work very well

Is there another approach, should I consider?

If you do not already things that communicates to the Server backend, e-mail is probably the easiest way.  Crosses all the issues of the segmentation of the image that you would have to do with the Web Service or FTP.

    I have a query DBA_DATA_FILES show total space allocated.

    SELECT SUM (bytes) AS allocated_bytes FROM dba_data_files;

    And for 'used' space, I run the present:

    SELECT SUM (bytes) AS used_bytes FROM dba_segments;

    We don't need to digress into the discussion of what is truly used as everyone knows that there is unused space in DBA_SEGMENTS. But it works for management!

  • Best approach for the design of the Radial Image - sector scanning Sonar

    This is not a problem, but you are asked to think about the best approach.

    I need a sector sonar image data.  This device runs on 360 (degree sub-segments) and generates a set of data from the origin - radially outwards at an angle of no - to an endpoint.  Therefore, for each 'ping' sonar I need data points in the center of a circle graph, a radial angle on the outside.

    I don't know if I should use LabView vi for the drawing tools, or go to ActiveX or?

    Anyone has a suggestion on the best approach to this?

    Thank you
    Peter

    Peter,

    You can use a chart of the LabVIEW intensities for this kind of display.

    Maybe not the best way, but it is possible.

    As an attachment, I did an example with your specifications.

    datapoints 1024 by degree

    See example image:

    Basic principle:

    -Create the matrix of 2048 x 2048 points database

    -For each 'line of angle' calculate which pixel to replace each data point in the line

    -Because "datapoints" becoming bigger, far from the Center, repeat the action for several "sup angles. for example, to 85 deg also Calc. 84.6, 84.8, 85, 85.2 85.4

    It gives you an idea of the possibilities, but performance may be necessary.

    -Only external Calc x pixels more degrees

    -Do some kind of anti-aliasing to avoid the pixelated lines.

    See attached example. (LV 8.6)

  • Best practices for the handling of data for a large number of indicators

    I'm looking for suggestions or recommendations for how to better manage a user interface with a 'large' number of indicators. By big I mean enough to make schema-block big enough and ugly after that the processing of data for each indicator is added. Data must be 'unpacked' and then decoded, for example, Boolean, binary bit shifting fields, etc. The indicators are updated once / sec. I'm leanding towards a method that worked well for me before, that is, binding network shared variable for each indicator, then using several sub-vis to treat the particular piece of data, and write in the appropriate variables.

    I was curious what others have done in similar circumstances.

    Bill

    I highly recommend that you avoid references.  They are useful if you need to update the properties of an indicator (color, police visibility, etc.) or when you need to decide which indicator update when running, but are not a good general solution to write values of indicators.  Do the processing in a Subvi, but aggregate data in an output of cluster and then ungroup for display.  It is more efficient (writing references is slow) - and while that won't matter for a 1 Hz refresh rate, it is not always a good practice.  It takes about the same amount of space of block diagram to build an array of references as it does to ungroup data, so you're not saving space.  I know that I have the very categorical air about it; earlier in my career, I took over the maintenance of an application that makes excessive use of references, and it makes it very difficult to follow came data and how it got there.  (By the way, this application also maintained both a pile of references and a cluster of data, the idea being that you would update the front panel indicator through reference any time you changed the associated value in the data set, unfortunately often someone complete either one or another, leading to unexpected behavior.)

  • Best practices for the storage of data the program Config on Vista?

    Hello world

    I'm looking to get recommendations about what where (and how) to better store the configuration data of the program for a LV executable runs under Vista.  I need to store a number of things like the location of the window, the values of the controls, etc.  Under XP I stored straight in the screw own execution path.  But in Vista, certain directories (for example, C:\Program Files) are now restricted without administrator rights, so if my program runs from there, I don't think it's going to be able to write its configuration file.

    Also at the moment I'm just using scripture to the block of spreadsheet to store my variables.  Is it his good or are they better suggestions?

    Thank you!

    For the configuration data, I use the setting screw or screw Configuration OpenG. The formula proved to be flexible during development (adding new values is backward compatible).

    XML would be nice, but the current implementation is unflexible when you add / change the data structure (the old configuration file cannot be reused).

    If the amount of data is small (just a post windows and size or some of the file path), the windows registry is an alternative (giving a game unique for each user, if you wish).

    I have no experience with Vista.

  • Peformance Gain for a different drive for the SQL Server data and log (VM) file?

    Hello

    It is suggested to separate SQL Server 2012 data and log files in different drive for VM.  Is there a performance gain if two of them resided in the same logical (Partition VMDK) unit number?  OR should they (different dives) in different LUNS (Partition VMDK)?

    Thank you

    The General mantra in the physical world goes as follows:

    For optimal performance, you need to separate logs and database of transactions on different physical disks (e.g. disks) stacks.

    This general concept applies naturally agnostically to virtual workloads as well. It essentially translates to:

    For performance, you should put the files of database transactions on various resident on different LUNS VMDK or use separate RDM. You should also use a separate vSCSI controller to each VMDK/RDM as the controller has its own IO queue.

    There is a point more important which is often neglected in the physical and virtual world in particular:

    Ideally, you should make sure that your physical LUN for logs and DB are not a group of common disk same stacks of physical disks. This violates the general concept above.

  • Best practices for the reader to 'Data' between VM?

    Hello

    So on my box ESXI, I have a 250 GB drive. I was wondering what the best practice is to have a 'data' drive shared between VM? I'm pretty new to virtualization so would like to view

    I would basically following drive configuration...

    Win 2008 R2 - 60 gb

    Win 2008 R2 - 60 gb

    Ubuntu 10.10 - 20 GB

    (Shared between the two areas of 2008) DATA - 100 GB

    Thank you.

    The only way to do this is to assign the drive to a virtual machine and create a network share. Unless you use a file system that supports concurrent access to files, an attempt to present the disk to several systems would probably end by the corruption of data.

  • Best approach for the loading of images asynchrounously in a ListField

    I have a ListField, who draws a picture in each row that is loaded on the internet. I load the images and store them on the SD card, then notify the UI that the image is loaded and ready to fire. The only problem I have now is to know how to draw the image in the list without making the user feel as the entire list has been reloaded (IE lose the position of the index selected whenever an image is loaded).

    In my loaded picture the callback method, I use the following code to refresh the list:

    listField.setSize (dealsArray.length);

    I tried to change for this to keep the selected index but I get an illegal state exception:

    selectedIndex int = listField.getSelectedIndex ();

    listField.setSize (dealsArray.length);

    listField.setSelectedIndex (selectedIndex);

    Any help would be appreciated to heighly

    You can void an individual line in a ListField - I would like to try that.

  • Best practices for the parameter of ARCH_LAG_TARGET and DBWR CHECKPOINT database

    Hello

    Concerning best practices - I need to know - what is recommended or guidelines for these 2 settings of databases.

    I found for ARCH_LAG_TARGET, Oracle recommends he set to 1800 seconds (30 minutes)

    Maybe someone can guide me with these 2 settings...

    See you soon

    Dear unsolaris,

    First of all if you want to follow the full and incremental control points, make the LOG_CHECKPOINT_TO_ALERT TRUE parameter. You will see the checkpoint YVERT and deadlines.

    Full checkpoint is triggered when a log switch occurs and the position of the point of control in the controlfile is written in the data file headers. For just a really little amount of time, the database could be consistent even if it is open and in read/write mode.

    ARCH_LAG_TARGET setting is disabled and the value 0 by default. Here is the definition for this parameter;

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/initparams009.htm

    If you want to set this parameter to the top of the Oracle recommends that it be 1800 as you said. This may subject to change database database and it is better for you to check it out for who suffer.

    Kind regards.

  • What is the best approach to the conversion of the LV7.1 tags to the variables shared by several screws LV2012?

    What is the best approach for the upgrade of the DSC-LV2012/LV7.1/DSC static variable tags in several screws running on several platforms? Our system is made up of about 5 PC running Windows 2000/LV7.1 DURATION, the more a PLC and a PDC running XP/SP3/LV2012. About 3 PC publish information from the sensor through tags on the local network to the PDC. Only the main command is currently being upgraded. Basic questions:

    1. the other computers running RTÉ 7.1 (with labels) will be able to communicate with the PDC running 2012 (shared variables)?

    2. is it necessary for conversion of tags shared variables, or the deprecated legacy tag screws of LV7.1 work in LV2012?

    3 all of the main controllers will be screw must be integrated in a project in order to use shared variables?

    4 is the only way to do it is to find all the tags and replace them with elements of shared variable?

    Thank you in advance with all the information and advice!

  • What are the best practices for creating only time data types, and not the Date

    Hi gurus,

    We use 12 c DB and we have a requirement to create the column with datatype of time only, if someone please describe what are the best practices for the creation of this.

    I would strongly appreciate ideas and suggestions.

    Kind regards
    Ranjan

    Hello

    How do you intend to use the time?

    If you are going to combine with DATEs or timestamps from a other source, then an INTERVAL DAY TO SECOND or NUMBER may be better.

    Will you need to perform arithmetic operations on time, for example, increase the time to 20%, or take an average?   If so, the NUMBER would be preferable.

    You are just going to display it?  In this case, DAY INTERVAL in SECONDS, DATE or VARCHAR2 would work.

    As Blushadow said, it depends.

    It will really depend on the application of the virtual machine - but for most of the applications no problem by storing everything on the same data store
