I have the fingerprint on my laptop reader, but I do not use it, and I don't think that I will ever be. Wouldn't be all right if I disabled or maybe even uninstalled? Anything else would be affected or it would cause more harm than good by disabling or uninstalling?

Because you don't want to use it, the best thing to do is simply do not use it! Uninstall the drivers & software for the device may cause some errors and the annoying popups from Windows asking you to install the drivers for it.
There is no harm in simply he left unused. Enjoy!
