BIOS update causes a major problem

On August 27, 2015, I received a notice to update Dell that it was a new version of the BIOS for my computer (a Dell Inspiron 15 laptop). My computer was out of warranty at that time, I enjoyed the opinion, thinking that Dell was good update of the BIOS. However, the update has proved to be a disaster.

Whenever the computer is idle for more than half an hour, it goes to the blue screen and says he has encountered a problem and needs to restart. The error is called "paging (sic) of the core data error." I tried first to Support from Dell, but they absolutely refused to do something to solve this problem, because it is out of warranty. They told me to come back to a point before the update. No matter how much I argued that they had caused the problem, they still refused to fix it and would help me not regress the computer to an earlier time (I don't know how to do)

I have I have since discovered that the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver is missing and, according to Microsoft, is the origin of the problem, I'm going to. I need help from Dell to replace the one (so I chose the correct version). But now Dell detect does not work on my computer, and I can't find anything on the web site of tell me what is good. Also, I closed the Dell chat and there is a multihour expected telephone support.

Before this happened, I was ready to be a Dell customer for life. Now, I feel as I said go away.

Has anyone else had a problem with this update of the BIOS?

    Hello

Disconnect the PC and press and hold power for 30 seconds. Remove and replace the battery CMOS. It's a $4 item. Now let's see what happens. If no joy, then try the steps above once again.

If your PC support has been changed or modified then put it back in its original state.

I have a Pavillion DV6226us computer laptop Vista Home Premium, 4 daus agp, I was forced into what I thought was a restart systematic due to some updates to VISTA & OFFICE until he got to the page config after the windows logo screen and update 3 or 3 remained at 0% and restarted and went into the loop of the startup-config-stop. I have had no other internet access at the time, but I needed the pc work so I tried options repair normal, start repair, latest config, safe mode, etc. and eventually had to do system restore, System Restore did not work, I tried 3 times I think and I know I got an error message 'cannot restore again or something' I went to the oldest available restoration and still got the update config, I deleted all the files of 3 updates in the software distribution folder, I thought this might work, I forgot pending .xml and restored then the register for a few days before the first update of Windows and nothing has worked.  I then tried a repair install and I have a windows vista business upgrade I bought that I never ended up using so I tried, but he wouldn't take the key not connected to windows, I put in the key OEM and it took, but I cancelled before starting installation cause I wanted to make sure that it was my only option When I had another pc, the next day, I found the pending.xml repair that I finally in windows. When I walked into windows, I found that there are all sorts of problems, from 1st installing office began to install but stop with the registry permission errors, I had 2 program files & program data folders (I moved the new ones to the old ones deleted duplicate files, the system was very slow I ran sfc and came back with a couple of errors that are not fixed, I watched cbs file but nothing came back under a ': can't fix "search of the file did not further that the errors were cause I had to restart with the repairs I did and run checkdisk, restart and decide if it is repairable or or try the upgrade installation , but the error of update 3 of 3 was back and now I was unable to boot from the disc, all I get is a white cursor with a black screen, I also tried 2 OEM windows vista home, & Xp Pro disk and a partition boot disk just to see if we can see the drive and it acts like its reading every time but after about 20 seconds to 2 minutes He let the fast blinking cursor and goes to loading vista, I can get into the bios, I can run all the advanced startup options (safe mode, etc.) but even a mistake. Ive also ran the vista test drive diagnostic memory hard tool & bios, both tools ran without error is returned without error, there was something else that happened during one of the attempts of safe mode, do not know how I got ut open winload.exe screen but I do not change anything Please help thanks

When you did the repair system/upgrade using the version upgrade of the Installation of Vista Business disk, which was the operating system that was on the system before the problems started (before that you did the re-Setup)?  If not and you have used the OEM product key, it triggered correctly?  Go to start / computer / system properties and at the bottom it says it is active?  That is not an immediate problem, but can backfire on you in 30 days if it is not resolved.  To activate manually, go to start, search, and type in slui 4 enter.  Enter your country and press Next.  You will be on a screen with a phone number and a bunch of codes below.  Dial the number and browse automatic guests until you get to a human being.  Have your handy product code because it will be asked.  Explain that this is the same PC.  They should give you a code to enter on this screen to activate Vista (as long as it's the same version of fix than the OEM version).

I guess you can still work in SafeMode with networking (but not normal mode).

We will test your hard drive, a different way.  To test your hard drive, check the manufacturer and then get the diagnostic utility of: http://www.techsupportforum.com/hardware-support/hard-drive-support/302602-hard-drive-diagnostic-utilities.html.  If she failed the test, replace it.  If she passes the test, then it's probably nothing wrong with it.

Go to the Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  I want to update the drivers for the CD/DVD device (because it seems to be in place, even if it worked at least partially for the repair of the system).  If you need to get pilots to leave the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.  Then see if you can run another repair of system/upgrade to Vista Business upgrade disc.

If the update 3 or 3 error always appears after that, then repost this question in Forum Windows Update: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/threads where people who specialize in updating the questions will be more than happy to help you with your problem.

    I hope this helps.

  • each update causes coupon printing problems

I need a version of firefox that does not affect my coupons. whenever I update, I print coupons of issues from various sites.

Thanks, John99, I'd be happy to. According to the forum, some are more sensitive than others about what you can post...

We are still doing our site compatible with all web browsers 64 bit and that could be a problem for many of you. If you are using Windows 7, 64-bit, try to launch the iexplore.exe (supplied with Win7 32-bit browser) and use to go to coupons.com and try printing. The other thing that you want to make sure you do is check to see if the coupon printer is enabled in your browser. In Firefox, click on tools, Addons and Plugins and look for the coupon to make sure printer is) 2 active and 1) installed in the browser.

I'd be happy to help you directly, if someone is having these problems of compatibility. Please send an email to [email protected] with your details and one of our engineers will be happy to join you.

  • Pavilion 14 new v042tx BIOS update causes power button to stay on

    Dear Erico,

I tried to Flash the old BIOS of F42 F09 using HP PC Diagnostics UEFI, but when I choose the binary file, it's always show the Signature file has not, or something.

I solved this problem. The problem, it's the Intel Management Engine Interface driver, my version was 11 then I it downgrade to version 10 and now, my laptop works properly.

  • The new update causes me 3 problems. Help, please. I'm tired of this.

I need my bookmarks back bar.
I need to be able to see my taskbar at the bottom of the page when I move my mouse over it instead of having to hit the windows button eveytime.
and I need my top of the toolbar page that shows the file, edit, view, bookmarks, options, help, back.

Help, please. These updates drive me crazy, especially when you can't just google the answer. I read a lot of things without success.
    Thank you for your time.

It seems that if you are using full-screen - press F11 to cancel it.

If that does not bring the toolbars, right-click at the top of the page and check/check Bookmarks Toolbar. You can also do the same for the Menu bar - or simply press Alt when you need to see.

  • Major problem after update of the app: DeployException: result::failure-104 (incompatibility digest... something has changed.)

    Hello

After you fix a problem with my signature keys ( http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Android-Runtime-Development/Signing-Keys-Mess/td-p/3022020) I managed to download my update of the app.

Unfortunately there was something wrong, that users who attempt to update were a major problem: "update this game [...] and he could not install after he asked me to accept the location service [...] It closes right when you are asked to accept again for approval of location services. »

Now, I was able to reproduce myself.

Update of the application, the user is invited to accept the authorization of the Internet, and if they accept it or not, the strength of the app closes then. (I had added Android ACCESS_WIFI_STATE permission in the manifest, but the problem persists if I remove it)

I tried to debug the problem and all that I can see is the LogCat shows this at the launch of the app 'day '.

    11-20 15:59:27.927: D/Install@Launch (7557275): incompatibility digest for com.irache.octagonp.gYABgELGe5sJN9mSCfgTnlCk3hw, something has changed.

In addition, by updating an existing installation, I get this error message on BlackBerry deployment:

    result::failure-104
    com.qnx.bbt.deploy.Deploy$ DeployException: result::failure-104

I compared the new and the old manifest, and all the relevant fields seem has not changed:-l' author of the Package, Package-author-Id, package name, package Description, Id of Package, Package-author-certificate-Hash.

The application works correctly with a fresh install, and I can update without problem to other apps that have gone through similar changes very recently, in libraries, permissions...

Could someone point me in the right direction?

    Thank you.

The error-104 is the Android Runtime.  It indicates that the APK file that is trying the upgrade has been signed with a different key than the original.  It made no reference to any BlackBerry sign the file of the bar, but the certificate you use to sign the APK using ADT.  On an Android device, the same error occurs if you try to upgrade an APK that is signed with a different certificate.

You can view the certificate that has been used on an APK file using a command like this:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.7.0_45\bin\jarsigner -verify -certs -verbose myApp.apk > output.txt

  • Satellite A300-20 b - Touchpad does not work after BIOS update

I've updated the BIOS on my Satellite A300-20 b latest version 2.00. Update succeeded, but when I rebooted system touchpad has stopped working.

I tried to find the solution, resettled drivers (windows XP system). In the Windows Device Manager there is no problem with Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad, I see. Software Synaptics shows no problem I can enable and disable the touchpad, but it does not work for the touchpad. I tried Linux live CD and in this system does not work as good touchpad. I think there is problem in this version of the BIOS.

Does anyone have the same problem?

    Hey Buddy,

Have you tried to turn the touchpad on or off if you press FN + F9? Check this please!
Also, try to load the default settings in the BIOS.

What happens if you connect an external mouse to the laptop? It work?

I can t imagine that the BIOS update causing this problem. If it doesn't work, you need to contact a service provider for help. They can check the touchpad and replace.

  • Satellite A660 - 18 BIOS update & fails (re-visited) HARD drive recovery

Referring to an old thread from my friends...

I tried earlier to update the BIOS of v1.80 for v1.90 (whether by the automatic update tool Service Station and the direct download of the update of the BIOS).

Whenever the update of the BIOS ran, he abandoned arguing that the battery was low (it was not), alternating current was not on (it is) and the existing BIOS version was superior to the new version (it wasn't).

The real problem seems to be that the version of the BIOS (as shown in "Toshiba HWSetup") is:

    + The BIOS version = V234567890. 00/00/00000000000 +.
    + Version EC = 1.80 +.

However, in the Diagnostic PC Toshiba tool the BIOS version on the page of basic information is correctly reported as 1.80

At the point where I couldn't be worth blat my disc with the original image and try again. I was hoping that Toshiba would set the BIOS update to fix the problem. Didn't happen.

They released v2.00 BIOS in June 2011 and would not always up to date. So I backed up my data and tried to blat of the machine to factory State. What a nightmare...

The recovery image doesn't work well at all!

The first bit works (the original partition creation and image copy), but after the startup of Windows and the script factory Toshiba intervenes, all sorts of problems begin.

First of all, the thing stuck several times in a process of "assessment of system performance. This happens in several phases of reboots because the drivers are installed. Then there's a bunch of bug script error messages and DMI analyze the errors you will need to click on ' close and do not report the crash "type dialog. What makes it more difficult is that the Toshiba factory configuration script sets up a blank page trying to see you on what the bureau is to be avoided. Even if you try to pass in the Manager of tasks to complete the process deadlocked, it gives you a few seconds grace before forcing the Office to lock and hide behind the white screen again. If you're quick and good time, you can stop the evaluation of performance at a standstill (I think it's just the thing to the Windows Experience score). Same thing to reject the other boxes of error...

Finally, I arrived at the end of the script and the machine was built with all of the original software.

The program HWSetup still reports the version of BIOS of nonsense and the PC Diagnostic tool always reports it correctly.

The Service Station program now does not even start. It crashes with a message + "request the Toshiba Service Station could not initialize. Try to restart or reinstall the application. » +. I downloaded the last being on the website and installed... To be hosted later with the same message.

Program update direct BIOS for v2.00 made his usual thing you ask that the current BIOS version is greater than 200 and abandonment.

I even read in a FAQ that some recovery routines do not work correctly with more than 4 GB of RAM (I have 8 GB). So I did all of this once again with only 4 GB installed and the script was just as broken for 4 GB 8 GB.

I ran PC complete diagnosis for machine test suite and it turned up nothing.

A little confused now... Maybe time to log a failure while I have a few more months of warranty left. But the machine actually works, just can't update the BIOS. Would be my luck if a problem arose just after the warranty has expired, and they said 'just update the BIOS...

In front of me, I 3 laptop years. Over the past three years, Toshiba has offered 3 BIOS updates. I don t care about it and still use the original version that I got with my laptop. I want to say, why change anything and start this risky If update everything works fine and it does.

Several times I have read here that people write about the problems of updating the BIOS and damaged BIOS. This risk does not apply to me just having the latest version.

Anyway, if you want to have all past orders on your laptop, it is without a doubt your legitimate right. In General, the BIOS updates are tested before Toshiba offers for download so I really put t understand why you have this kind of problems. The problem with the installation of recovery is also strange.

A few months ago, a friend of mine bought A660 and I helped him create recovery DVDs, and we also tested the recovery procedure everything including the three options:
    Back to out-of-box state
Recover without changing the hard drive partitions
    Get a custom size partition

Everything worked perfectly so I m really confused about everything you write.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with this. When I could have your laptop in front of me to see exactly what is happening, it will be much easier to understand all of this.
I updated the BIOS on different laptops, and I got lucky because every time that everything was fine.

Your laptop is guaranteed valid so I recommend you contact Toshiba service provider in your country and ask for assistance.
What do you think about this?

  • Satellite P205D-4378 crashed so that the BIOS update

    Hello everyone,

It is my first post on the forum, although I've read here a lot.

My problem seems to be classic: had several problems with my Satellite P205D-4378 crash.
Visited the Web from Toshiba site, they have a BIOS update that fixes the problems that I have. I do the update, CRAAAASH!, dead computer.

    Death seriously.

Turn on the other computer, search, find a few websites on "crisis recovery disk Phoenix.

I read religiously, run to the store, buy a FDD, some readers, usb, the Bios file download, rename, make the drive...

Trembling with anxiety, I press FN + b, switch on the machine, and it works!

Well well... at least the works of the Zombie fashion: pink LED, high speed fans, manages the USB FDD, begins the USB FDD, he read for a good two minutes! Then nothing.

'It's ok, it'll be ok' I think. The starting block is a program that is not more than 4 k, the computer has no bios, impossible to use anything, and must digest a 1000 k bios.

    I wait, nothing happens.

SO what now? I tried the 'start FDD' ten times at least. Last try, I waited all night! I Went sleep after the computer read the floppy).

Whatever I do, once the disk has been read, nothing happens.

I turn it off, I unplug it, I try with battery, no battery, I speak well, I insult, I pray, I cry, I swear... NOTHING WORKS!

    I do something wrong, somewhere.

On my drive are the phlash16.exe, the minidos.sys and the bios.wph (extract from a file named AASA40. ROM, downloaded with the pack zip on the toshiba site)

What should I do? I read it on some forums that computer makers like Dell and Compaq deliberately disable the Boot Block Flash, is the same thing with Toshiba?

The latest version of the bios that I have downloaded is corrupted?

Is it possible that my motherboard is physically by the update failed? In this case, is it easy to replace yourself?

I don't want to be ripped off by Toshiba for repair, if the only thing that I miss so far is a combination of keys at the end of the flash Boot Block recovery...

    In short, I'm lost.

No idea to this wonderful group of reflection?

    Thank you

    Baaharb.

I think that the update of the BIOS based on windows is security more like an update of the traditional Bios.
Why? Because using the traditional BIOS there is always a risk that the wrong BIOS would be used.
The BIOS using focused on victory, this risk does not exist.

I know a lot of people who uses a bad BIOS and damaged module BIOS ROM.

Anyway. To show you, I think that there is one solution as mentioned by delvoie, you will have to contact the local ASP.

    See you soon

I installed the recommended Vista updates last night and this caused my internet connection, to stop working.  This has happened to both of my HP laptops.  I was able to work around this problem by going to a previous restore point but worry about future updates, causing the same problem.  Please notify.

    Hello

Use a wired connection to download the latest drivers or download on another computer
and transfer them to this one on removable media such as CD, DVD or USB drives.

Control Panel - device - networks - WiFi - Manager write down of the brand and model, and then double-click
on the drivers Tab - get the version number. Then double click on update drivers (this can do nothing
that MS is far behind the drivers of certification). Then make a right click on the device and UNINSTALL - REBOOT - it
    will update the driver stack.

Now, go to the system manufacturer and search for updated drivers, this will be your fallback. Then go to the Site of the manufacturer of the device
and look for the even more recent drivers.

Download - SAVE - go to where you put the driver - CLICK RIGHT to it - RUN AS ADMIN
(repeat on the site of the manufacturer of the device)

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • Reset CMOS causing BIOS reload settings default "by reason of BIOS update or checkum problem"

I forgot my BIOS supervisor password. So, I reset the CMOS (Clear CMOS) memory and now cannot do all CMOS changes are saved.  At startup, there is now a message that says "default BIOS settings have been refilled to the update problem or BIOS checksum."

-There was a BIOS update when the PC was new

    -Recently upgraded to Windows 7

-Don't visit the HP section for my Pavilion (a6863w) and saw and for under Win 7 CD writer firmware update and update that

    Speculation:

The message indicates that the BIOS can be protect themselves following the Clear CMOS, or possible another update of the firmware?  Original clear possible update BIOS?  Why control error and go to a preset CMOS?

It is uncertain whether this question should be asked to HP or AMD. 9150e Athlon (TM)

    Hanspuppa,

I started to pull the CMOS battery to check on a voltmeter when, under a strong light, I finally realized that the configuration of jumpers PIN is inverted for blocks PWD NET and CLEAR CMOS.  The pins are arranged for CLAIRE PWD 123 and 321 to CLEAR CMOS.  The first image of the instructions (below) is the Basic setting for jumpering 12 CMOS and CMOS_PWD pins.  I missed the pin numbering sequence on the CLEAR CMOS and thought they were in the same order as the CLEAR_PWD block.  (i.e. the CMOS could not be reset because pine 23 were closed when they were believed to be 12).    I wanted to add one suggestion for others who may run into this.  Maybe could avoid any confusion with the text to explain that, in addition to a third of images showing (copy of the first) the return to basic configuration.  The cause of the confusion about this wsa being not not able to read all the pin codes and believe incorrectly that the two blocs would have pins arranged in a similar sequence when they are not.

See Attention to detail!  Click to expand the Clear CMOS or clear CMOS_PWD.

My apologies to all those who have looked into this.

Two nearly adjacent jumper blocks have a reverse PIN.  After the erase (reset), they must be reset as indicated below.  I may have issues pending on the update of the BIOS under Win7.

  • Napa-GL8E Motherboard BIOS update problems

Hi, I have a Pavilion Elite m927a and Sunday, this update of the Napa-GL8E motherboard BIOS wanted to install. I did, and then all the computer froze. I was like, oops. so I forced it closed (power button which took place) and rebooted, and the same update arrived. I though maybe if I get rid of the process would lead, it does not freeze? so I forced it shut again, and the entire computer is dead. Would not boot the computer and emitted a beep code in groups of two, given that the BIOS was not happy (couldn't get the MESSAGE). So, I would have reset the BIOS myself, ' cept that I just bought a month ago, and I didn't kill my warranty, so I called HP and got a technician of po as a side note, it took over an hour for a person pick up, and I've been waiting very unfortunately. Anyway, the Grinch came to a fixed rate (I don't know what he did I wasn't there), but it doesn't have me talk about the update, and now, she wants to always be updated the update even that caused all the trouble.

My question is this; What should I do about it? I'm too scared to run it again in fear of having to w8 for a technician again.

    Ty! ^^

    Do not install it.

Word to the wise, do not install an update of the BIOS, unless you have a problem or you need something like a new game or software.

This hp article should help you remove the element of updates (especially the last two sections):
