BlackBerry smartphones using my fone as a USB

Wondering if I could use my bb to play movies through my dvd player avi using the usb key?

You can view the manual of DVD if he accepts FAT or FAT32 disk formats, because it is the format of your SD card. If it isn't, it means that you cannot use it as USB through this DVD player.

  • BlackBerry smartphones can not synchronize with the USB cable plugged into charge pod

    Hello

I read on the web site of shopblackberry.com, in the details of charge pod ( http://www.shopblackberry.com/_blackberryaccessories/cgi-bin/pd.cgi?frompage=category&page=product_d... ) that the pod can handset with charger travel or data cable for charge and/or sync with a BlackBerry smartphone. So, my question is related on a problem or a misunderstanding of me to this description.

I want to know if we could recharge and synchronize the BlackBerry via USB cable or is only responsible for the BlackBerry when connected that way. My second question is, is it possible to synchronize the BlackBerry with the USB cable plugged into the pod or not?

Because I got a request from one of my users about the fact that his BlackBerry 9000 can not synchronize when it is on his group.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

It's a loading dock. It is useful, because just drag you your "BOLD" in there and it will load (just like the 8300 Curve).
If you want to synchronize, you can plug a usb on the side of the appliance cord. This can be done while the machine is in its dock, where the description.

I have the same crib, but for the 8300. It's really worth buying. I'm happy with it every day.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones use Storm 2 as PDA WiFi-Connected (without telephone service)?

    RESOLVED:
See the second post in this thread for the solution (thanks to wiggler forum member)

    ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

[I know I am a "retarded" for even bringing this place, but we'll just go beyond the part and talk about what I really want to know here ]

My wife and I went to an Android (Bionic) for me and an iPhone (4 s) for her. However, his old phone (Storm 2) has recently been replaced because his former 1 storm went wrong on her... and now, since my father thought finally get something to replace his old (not to mention, broken and unusable) Palm device, we thought we might as well give him the Storm 2 and see if it'll work out for what he wants.

Here's the deal about my father and his PDA... already has a cell phone, so he won't move up to a smart phone, because he does not want to pay the extra money every month just to get a PDA phone when he probably never really use the data service much and all that.

He wants a phone just to be a phone, and he also wants a PDA... just for the PDA part.

So, I thought, very well... If he is not willing to move completely in the modern era, then we can at least give him something he can synchronize with Outlook (it works... I already tried) to have its calendar and contacts with him all the time (which it is not able to do with his simple mobile).

So what I know is that it's possible, at least in a very limited sense... I have the Storm 2 sync with Outlook.
However, here's my problem... for a reason, even if the wifi card appears to connect to the wifi here in their home access point, it is not actually get an IP address and can't get out on the internet with the browser integrated into all.

    My question is this...
Is it because it is not possible (i.e. RIM has configured to disable the card wifi within the unit while there is no mobile phone service connected), or who should run, and I should watch more in the sense of something wrong at the level of the home network?

The reason why I think that it could be something awkward like that within the device itself, it is my new Android and iPhone of the wife are able to connect to the network wireless home here very well.

Sorry for such a long thing, goofy needs help, but I thought it is a good starting point. If anyone has ideas and is willing to help, please chime.

p.s. I am a computer scientist. So I have that aspect covered... at least you do not work with a complete * beep * if you jump here.

I thought about it. I did a search on google for the specific message I saw in 'wi - fi tools' (which was "no longer valid"ip address ") and found this thread...
    http://supportforums.BlackBerry.com/T5/other-BlackBerry-smartphones/IP-address-no-longer-valid/TD-p/...

The second post there (from wiggler), gave me the fix I need.
    Thank you!  :-)

  • Switching devices blackBerry Smartphones using the Desktop Manager

I just got my Torch 9800 replacement since my first only the battery was drainning (apparently a common problem).

Until I returned my old Torch 9800 I backed up and also used the device switch option in Desktop Manager. When it asked me to connect the new device, I unplugged the old camera, he took to the shop orange and then plugged my new camera.

Then an error has occurred and asked me to update the software on the new device. I did it... and then when I use switching devices, it asks me to connect the current device but the problem is... I don't have the camera more.

As I backed up all the data, I did a restore. He restored most of the data, but it has not restored my apps.

Any idea on how I can do?

I hope it is interesting all that.... and I get a better battery life this time!

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Ah... never mind. While the device switch Wizard can indeed move a few apps, the backup/restore process does not have applications. So, in the State you are in, you must go to the source of your applications and re - get them. If you by AppWorld, the process is very smooth:

    • KB17625 How to install or transfer has already purchased apps from BlackBerry App World for BlackBerry smartphone

If you have from other sources, then you should see if these sources are a simple way for you. I hope you have good record of all your activation keys... and some will indeed have to be regenerated some developers to attach the key on the BB SPINDLE, which is now different since you have a new device.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones using the 8300 BB as a PDA with Verizon

I was considering buying a BB 8330 with the express purpose to have the PDA features.  I don't want to connect to the e-mail or use the internet features.  I don't want to connect to my computer via the USB port and the calendar, phone book and contacts in my Outlook file and all of the notes that I add as I do now with an older Palm Pilot PDA.  Verizon is telling me that I need an additional data package in order to transfer data between the computer and the BB.  Is this correct?  Can I use the BB as an independent PDA service Verizon 8330?

In addition, my Palm has the ability to transfer a Wrod or computer Excell file and edit it and post it on the PDA.  The 8330 will do that?

Is a software that comes with the Smartphone needed and available to allow these functions?

Again, all I want from Verizon is the telephony service.  All this I want to do it through USB and the computer.

Your answer will determine if I buy the BBs as Christmas gifts for my wife and myself or stick with my old phone and get a new PDA to stand alone.  Thank you for your help in making this decision.

    Harold

But not what I wanted to hear, he confirmed my question.  The real loss here is BlackBerry with a customer lost through Verizon.  I can not afford any additional service and will not pay use features that should not even involve the telephone operator.

Thank you all for your answers.

  • BlackBerry smartphones using the Micro SDHC 8 GB in Curve 8330

    Hello

Is someone using a Micro SDHC 8 GB card in their Verizon Blackberry 8330?

I can't seem to get a straight answer on whether or not it will work.

    Thank you

Currently, smartphones BlackBerry running the following versions of BlackBerry® Device Software will support until the displayed size.

BlackBerry Device Software Media card size limit

BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 up to 2GB

BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 up to 4 GB

BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 up to 4 GB

BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0 up to 8GB

It should work. However, some people complained that the 8 GB cards were hit or miss. I hope that support will be better with the next version of the operating system.

  • Curve of blackBerry Smartphones used to synchronize with outlook

I had my phone for about 2 months with no problems.  I tried to sync the BB through the USB port on my Outlook calendar.  It goes to a certain folder and no synchronization.  The program of the break, then he must stop State.

I tried to reinstall the software, take the battery and try again.  Now, the Director of bureau says that there is no device connected, when the phone is in effect.  It is connected through the same USB cable and port, as always with success, I used.  The device shows that it is load and connected via USB, and I can use the card out of holder, which means to me that the computer recognizes the device, but the Desktop Manager is not.

I also tried to delete all of the rim as shown in another post on the Board of Directors, and this solution didn't or didn't help.

    Help!  Thank you!

I think I can understand the problem.

I have indeed restart the computer, and I use only a USB cord, not a docking station.

Here's what I think I've found somehow.  BlackBerry dislikes Outlook folders with weird things in the note section (i.e.. Attachments or html links).  There is a calendar folder that I noticed that I added when this happened.  He had an html link in the section notes.  After removing the link in this article, I did the following:

    (1) use the Blackberry software disk and completely uninstall the Desktop Manager

    (2) battery Blackberry tour and take 1 minute.

    (3) when the battery is out of Blackberry, reinstall Office Manager.

    (4) restart the computer.

    (5) replace the battery and turn on BlackBerry.

    (6) run Desktop Manager

    (7) select synchronization > Configuration tab > Reset Configuration - this tab closing button

    (8) reconnect the Blackberry with the USB cable.

    (9) sync Outlook calendar

Seems to work!  If all goes well it will continue to work, but if not, I'll let you know.  Thanks for the questions!  Hope this helps someone else.

  • BlackBerry smartphones use handset?

Hello, im a new owner of a Blackberry Storm 9500, I brought 2nd hand and I just the handset and charger. Now that I put my sim in I don't know how to use the phone properly, seems to not be able to use the BBM and the internet as there no icon of browser on the phone, so I im confused on how to address this issue... do I need a usb cable? CD? access to the Internet?

In order to use BBM and navigate on the internet with the native BlackBerry browser, you need a data plan appropriate for your carrier that will support BlackBerry phones.  Generic data plans are good for all the other phones on the market, but they will not work with your BlackBerry phone (unless you want to only talk and text).

If it is in place and that you do not find the icon of your browser, your home screen, press the BB menu key and show all search for them in the list.  If it is there, select it and you're off to the races!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones using two BB with the same account of Blackberry.

Currently, I have a BB 9900 and is considering obtaining a BBZ10. The 9900 has a standard sim card by which the Z10 I think a micro sim. (I still have to talk to my service provider relating to the regime of a sim 2)

Is it possible to use two phones at the same time, if my provider allows, regarding BB services etc. using the same account etc?

I thought that I have addressed this before first topic to contact my ISP.

    Thank you.

    Kind regards.

You ask the subject from the BBID even on both devices?

Yes, to a certain extent, on the data.

E-mail and social accounts like Facebook and Twitter works perfectly.

BlackBerry Messenger will use only a BBID on a device at a time... If you have the same BBID on both devices, you will need to choose which will be your active BBM.

Of course, the main question to this is if your mobile operator will allow two SIM cards with the same account. Doubtful.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones using the calendar/Agenda when you don't have a data plan.

Hi all, I just got a BB Curve 9320 model to replace my LG dead.  I use the phone for my convenience only but I fondly I remember my old Palm Pilot and it's wonderful calendar application that allows me to keep track of my life and where I was supposed to be and when.  I had hoped that the curve would be able to do the same thing with its calendar function.  I thought that using the BB desktop and connect my laptop to enable them to communicate that I would have the same function, like the Palm Pilot has made in my previous life of the curve.  Unfortunately, I have not been able to get it to operate than I had imagined... I do something bad or without the data plan is - it simply not possible?

Hello and welcome to the community!

What is wrong is your waiting... what you expect is not a feature designed... a few things to discuss... so bear with me...

Unlike other how things, RIM does not provide a desktop PIM. Others force you to use their PIM and only their PIM. RIM provides a driving software that works as a bridge between your PIM and the BB. See this compatible PIM KB:

    • KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager to synchronize

So, to do what you want requires the use of a desktop PIM for your data... Choose a compatible PIM (from above). Then, enter your data in the PIM Office. Next, configure the BB to sync with the PIM:

  • BlackBerry Smartphones using Wi - Fi to connect to my email, web browser, the world ap and... Well well... everything? on my 8900

Recently, I bought a Blackberry Curve 8900 with tmobile. Now, here's the thing, I don't have a data plan of any kind with tmobile. Then, when I bought the phone I have insterted my phone and it started. Checked with my seller to make sure he made a phone call... He did it. So I knew for sure my card SIM was working fine...

    Heres where it gets weird...

When I got home, the first thing I did was to connect to my network wireless... using a Wi - Fi connection... obviously. And from there, I went to the Setup Wizard and went through each step. When I got to the part of the Email, he gave me two options, I do not remember the two, but one of them has been "put in place of the emails through blackberry enterprise server"... or something like that. I didn't know that I didn't have a data plan, so I clicked on the second option. I went through the process and EMAIL... by WIFI. I even sent my e-mail messages free to make sure that it worked and have evidence that I received email and Xavier sent to me and others! without a data plan!

It's what I expected... I didn't know this wasn't supposed to happen? and that BlackBerry customers were able to get by email if they have a blackberry data plan?

Well, naturally, I thought that everything else works on a wif... like the iphone connection. Even if you don't have the 3G data plan, you can always access web, email, and aps. Anways Yes, applications communicated with the wifi network and my browser web page views on a wireless network.

Then my myfaves dissapeard and gave a script error or something java coding. Then what should I do? I called tmobile and spend hours of troubleshooting. Finally, I am able to restore or update my OS with a PC and recover my mfaves. But now my world ap ap does not start and tells me that I need a data plan... following its my browser telling me the same thing, but also facebook. I'm like what's happening? And then when I try to set up the email... There is only one option... and that's 'email through blackberry enterprise server installation "...

So my question is... If you take the time to read this... Why in the world any order in collaboration with wi fi and out of nowhere asked me to use a blackberry data service plan?

    daveynielsen wrote:

Because, without THE BlackBerry data Plan, you will be using your WiFi HotSpot browser, and that's all. No email, no features of data application RIM as AppWorld or the BlackBerry Facebook app.

He worked first, because you probably remnant provisioning Service books from the former owner, I suppose (as you mentioned "checked with my salesman).

For me, seems to be suspected of working as.

Not quite, you must always have a data plan for the iPhone.

  • Unlocked blackBerry Smartphones using bb curve 9310 w/Tmobile without data

Hello, I'm looking to buy a bb curve 9310. For the moment, I'm in a 2 year contract with calls unlimited-Tmobile & text, no data plan.

I need to change my phone and I would like a blackberry because I have a lot of text, and also I would use its WiFi capabilities as well.

I did some research and it seems to be is not as simple as just buy the phone and put a SIM card. I just want to know if I would be able to use a unlocked bb curve with my Tmobile SIM 9310 (plan of 2 years, no data)

I already know that I won't be able to use features such as BBM. I'm waiting until my contract expires and may then add a data plan or change of provider.

Any response would be greatly appreciated as I need to change my phone as soon as POSSIBLE.

    Thank you!

What happens with companies like At & t and Verizon. However, T-mobile in the United States is not that. I have an iPhone and a BB 9780 for two of my children on family plans for $5 per month - no data plan.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones use BB without using Outlook

My company converted the s Treo 650 Blackberry curves about 3 months ago.  We have done very well synchronize the Treo with Palm Desktop.

When we bought the BBs seller failed to mention MS Outlook 2007 was necessary.

We bought it installed and WE ALL HATE OUTLOOK! what a pig! It is slow, complicated and takes too much memory to operate.

We want to get rid of Outlook 2007 and synchronize them with something else.

All my servers are Linux type servers. All our desktops / laptops are WinXP.

My boss wants me to find something ELSEWHERE MS Outlook to synchronize the BBs.

It is ready to buy machines Apple to do so, OR restore BBs to T-Mobile and startover.

NOTE - my boss likes her BB curve... He hates that it cannot synchronize without MS Outlook.

    so...

Why not RIM provides a good desktop market that is synchronized with BBs application?

    and

Anyone (individual or SME) sync to something else besides that MS Outlook?

As I'm born and raised a Windows Guy, I don't know about MAC.

You can also check Gmail they have a synchronization gmobile for the calendar program, I don't know about the contacts. You will find the link in a second.

You can use the gmail on your desktop and your BB calendar and sync the two! Best of all, it's FREE!

Please let me know if this answers your questions.

If you need more information, please ask, if not please take a minute and solve the thread.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones USE FOR CURVE 8520 WIFI

I recently bought a blackberry curve 8520 with Fido. My phone is connected to my wifi at home, but I want to assure you that I'm strictly using data NOT wifi (because I don't have a data plan). I noticed that in a network public wifi, a red asterisk * - appears on the WiFi icon in the upper right of the phone. Like this:

(the WiFi symbol is surrounded to demonstrate what I mean when I say WiFi symbol and the asterisk appeared like this)

However on my home network, if it says it is connected, the asterisk does not appear. As you can see it it says "Fido-peanut" (my router name) which means that Yes, I'm "connected..." BUT without the red asterisk on the wifi symbol (with my home WiFi) does that mean that I am not connected correctly?  I called Fido and the CSR said she thinks she has something to do with login password in public WiFi, but she's not sure.

The problem seems to be this: when I go on 'The Mobile Network Options' to activate ""data services ' OFF(to make sure that I am only using wifi and no data), the connection fails and I get this message: "

When I turn it on, I am able to connect.

    For ""connection preference ": "

what setting should I put if I don't want to use any WIFI data BUT?  Yes, the obvious answer would be to choose "WI - Fi" only, but this means that I won't be able to call/text because my mobile connection turns off.

So, how can I make sure I'm really only using wifi and not data when both the data service is turned ON and my wifi is 'connected '?

It is a list of what I've done:

    (1) the HOTSPOT USER - check.

    (2) insterted PIN provided by the phone to my dlink router (via online)

    (3) tried the push button configuration

    (4) restarted my router/modem

    5) there is a check mark next to the WiFi connection:

It would seem that I am connected to Wifi, but again, to reiterate, that I would like to ask if the WiFi is the ONLY thing I use and not data.

    Thank you!

It's pretty simple... IF you are connected to your network Mobile disabled (no phone calls or SMS) you will use ONLY WiFi. Only. As long as you have the 'white' dashboard and the name of the network "green peanut butter", you are connected to WiFi, but without BIS BlackBerry data services.

If you disable Data Services, you will not be able to use data in any form (via WiFi or Mobile network, if it is enabled.)

No BlackBerry data plan, you will be able to use the WiFi hotspot browser and some few third-party apps like Pandora radio.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones phone hangs when connected via USB

Hi I have a Pearl 8120. There is a problem where the phone will break if I connect it to some PC via USB.

When I say that it blocks the screen turns off and the red light stays on. To recover from this point, I have to unplug and reinsert the battery.

But for example if I connect it while the PC is not started in Windows so it will not crash.

When I connect the phone via a charger cable is also very good, and never, it hangs on my own PC at home.

Is there a way to fix this?

Hi, it seems that too much effort for reload software blackberry at this stage.

Although I solved the problem by changing the option "Auto enable mass Storage Mode when connected" guest.
