Bookmarks freezes constantly all sorting manually in Firefox 19 and following

There is a bug in bookmarks. I use Firefox 19, one a Mac and firefox 20 on the other. Whenever I arrange my bookmarks in the relevant files by using the "bookmark manager" (that is, sort them manually), each bookmark a few minutes Manager freezes and does not respond. This clear gel through things like - being not able to scroll upwards or downwards, not being is not able to move files in a particular folder and so on. Its frustrating... as I constantly have to wait until what it thaws. It happens every time! Have tried disabling add-ons that might have had problems, but it did not help...

How many bookmarks do you have?

Problems with bookmarks and history does not properly can be caused by a corrupted database places.sqlite file.

You can check for problems with the database places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • What are the causes sometimes freeze when accessing the library of Firefox bookmarks?

37.0.2 Firefox sometimes crashes on a Windows XP Professional when I try to access my extensive library of bookmarks. This is a new issue. I tried Firefox of refreshing, but that has not helped.

    Problem solved.

Clicking on another bookmarks folder caused Firefox to freeze. However, I could expand this folder and move, consolidate or delete subfolders much. During this process, I discovered that a subfolder was a copy of the record all bookmarks. This may have generated a type of infinite loop resulting in freeze-up, or the contents of the offending file may have been excessive.

Yes, all your personal information is stored in your profile folder.

Again, see back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox to manually back up your profile folder. This article also contains information about what information is stored where (for example, Places.sqlite for bookmarks and history).

Then save that manually uninstall Firefox and delete the profile folder. Then you should be able to do a completely clean install and then restore your settings accordingly.

  • Firefox freezes constantly after about 5 min (not in safe mode)

Basic information: using Firefox 14, worked very well until I came back from vacation, have pulled up to my PC and updated 3 things, Adobe Flash, Windows 7 ultimate (64 bit) and AMD Catalyst control center with the new 12.8 update, then rebooted.

Slowly try to pinpoint the cause. Flash is not installed, firefox still crashes. Tried to move the Mozilla folder on the desktop, so I could simulate a reset, firefox crashed in all cases, so I put the old folder.

Read a few pages of troubleshooting on the firefox page and went down the list by ensuring that everything has been updated and then tried to start in safe mode. So far, no accident and we'll 15 minutes here, the best I've seen so far.

Note: Just realized my version of Java was obsolete, uninstall older versions and installed the new version. Let's see if that helps.

Note 2: Nope, Firefox is always crashing on a regular basis. Java was not the issue. Do not think, but was hoping...

Try the suggestions in this response:

Alternatively, you can try to start the computer in safe mode Windows with network support (on the startup screen, press F8) as a test to see if it works.

  • Firefox crashes when loading websites, freezes when I try to download any file and completely freezes when I try to access the Options menu. Help!

As he says, I had a difficult time with Firefox lately, and I think that it's corrupted. I tweaked the settings according to the suggestions on this forum and others like him, but they made the problem worse. I've updated to the latest version of the browser that has not helped, and I finally tried the "Reset Firefox" button, which was worse than anything. I lost my custom settings and Add-ons for nothing, the problem persists.

More frustrating is that it completely crashes whenever I click on tools > Options, so I'm not able to make changes to this new configuration. If I export my favorites safely, I will try to uninstall the browser and re - install an older version of it, but of course it now freezes when I try to export the bookmarks file.

Thus, apart from trashing it and starting over... any suggestions?

For the record, it's Firefox 28.0 (do not know what version it was the beginning of the sentence), and the window "On Firefox" said that it is up-to-date. I am running Windows XP.

Thanks for any help or enlightenment, you might be able to provide.

    Hello

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

  • Is it possible to export all my favorites Mozilla Firefox standard edition to developer edition Mozilla Firefox?

    If so, how?

    Hello

Thank you for your question. I did the same thing myself, and it's really easy to do.

As I did in this article. Follow the instructions to save bookmarks from Firefox version and use the same instructions to restore in Firefox Developer Edition manually.

If you want to run both free and Developer edition at the same time, you may want to have a read of this article which will help you keep both sets of bookmarks updated.

I hope this helps, but if not please come back here and we can look at another solution for you.

  • IM reimage Windows, how can I transfare/keep all my stuff in Firefox?

    Hello, once more...

If shortly after restoring my system to the old point, fixing a couple of things, my system has in general been hell. Many features (explorer.exe [not IE... IM thinking I just drag the folder of Firefox on a USB external hard drive and then I did it, but is there an easier way?

The Firefox program files are easily replaced. The important things is located in your profile folder, it in a totally different place than the Firefox program files.

  • I updated Firefox today and unfortunately my previous Favorites disappeared. How can I recover my previous bookmark list?

I updated Firefox today, and my list of previous bookmark has disappeared. I tried to use the "import and backup" tab and follow the instructions in the Firefox page to backup and restore my previous favorites. Unfortunately, nothing has happened. Could you please help me with possible advice/guidance on how to solve this problem? This is the second time that, always happens when Firefox receives updates...

You seem to be using the Developer edition / Aurora pre-release version, which creates a new profile after installation or update on the Aurora channel. Open Options > general and check or uncheck the box at the top that says allow Firefox Developer Edition and Firefox to run at the same time. Once you restart [as to] you will 'switch' on the other profile, where your bookmarks are - If all goes well.

If you don't like "updates", why do you use a version alpha-2 who receives an update every day?

  • Firefox updated and deleted all my favorites. How to make a comeback?

The bookmarks menu is the same, but all have disappeared. Firefox has created another folder on my desktop, but it's all in the code, and I have no idea what is there or how to get back on this version.

Did you reset Firefox and create a new profile and don't have created Firefox and "Old data Firefox" folder on the desktop with the contents of the old profile?

If your bookmarks would not allow the new profile then check if there are backups JSON (.json or files compressed .jsonlz4) in the folder bookmarkbackups.

You should perhaps delete the places.sqlite file and restore a JSON backup in bookmarks (library) Manager.

  • Mini bookmark icons are all screwed up.

Mini icons in my bookmarks list are all incorrect. They are either empty or belong to another link. I'm on FF28, but this has happened for quite awhile now. How to fix this?

You can paste this code into the command line in the browser Console (Firefox/tools > Web Developer) to let all the favicons will expire.

    var fS = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/browser/favicon-service;1"]
             .getService(Components.interfaces.nsIFaviconService);
    fS.expireAllFavicons();

You must use a bookmark to retrieve the favicon of Firefox.
