  I had this same problem on a spectrum One and it was driving me crazy! Windows wouldn't let me change the brightness no matter how, I went to this topic, and I saw that you get the message "Not available". Finally, I stumbled across the "HP My Display" program and was able to adjust the brightness in there. What is loaded on your PC?
