Can I cut around a path on a layer of the imported bitmap image?

Hi all

I work in Illustrator 9 on Windows 7.

Can I cut around a path on a layer of the imported bitmap image?

I have imported a Photoshop layer and I have a way of triangle on an Undercoat of the imported bitmap layer I want to select around outside of and then cut around the trail on the imported bitmap layer to make this bitmap layer the shape of my path of triangle.

But when I select "Reverse" he tries to select other paths out of my way to triangle, it selects only the layer of the bitmap and leaves me to delete only this layer of the entire bitmap.

I want to choose my path, then do it slightly cut the edge of the track on my imported bitmap layer.

Thank you for any input,

Digi

You can use paths in an artistic form, no pixels, no clipping mask.

If you need to recreate this in Illustrator. Should be simple enough to create these wavy lines. Their color, the pathfinder to create the triangle. You can then create the art brush.

This here shows a slightly more complex procedure, because there is a gradient in there: http://www.vektorgarten.de/illustrator-flattening-transparency.html

For wavy lines, you can use the effect zig - zag (or filter)

    Amy,

    You must place the image in the text box to wrap around him, or a heavier way test, you can use text several boxes and place them strategically around the image, but if you want to hyperlink the image you have to place it inside the text box and you can not overlap images and text in e-mail boxes.

  • How can I get my mask path to show instead of the mask shape dialog box?

    Hello

    I've recently updated to AE CS6 and to see why can't get my mask path to show. I want to create a simple mask that drives from point A to point B, thus revealing an object in my composition slowly. In CS5, all I had to do was click on the mask path Stop Watch and the yellow mask with spikes of pen and Bezier handles appear around my object. I could then create another keyframe and change the shape of the mask with my pen/selection tool that will create the desired effect. However, in CS6 when I add a mask to my object and click on the stopwatch for mask path mask yellow appears.

    You probably have the visibility of the mask off in the comp window.  Turn it back on again.

  • Slideshow: Can I cut songs to start at some places in the project?

    I create a photo slide show project. First of all, I tried it is iMovie, but with a large learning curve and the time constraints, I use photos instead.

    I have some pictures of hundreds and 3-4 songs.  I would like to choose the exact point in the project that each song comes on, instead of having the four songs evenly divided by the length of the film. Cannot know if this is possible.

    Thank you.

    No, it is not possible in Photos. There is a solution that you could use.

    1. Select all the photos you want to play with the song #1 and create a separate slide show.

    2 - export the slide show as a Quicktime file.

    3 - do the same with photos of song #2, #3 and #4.

    4 import a #1 to 4 Photos slideshow.

    5 - create a slideshow with these 4 quicktime movie files.

    Not elegant or fast, but doable.

    Mike, if I understand you correctly, then all you need to do is invert the selection.   Select > Inverse or ' Shift Ctrl I '

  • Setting color and other attributes to the elements of path on a layer in the doc.

    I want to put contour (swatch existing spot) and other attributes like width of overprint and stroke color to points on a layer("DIE") of target path in the active document. I have already defines what I want all existing elements of path on all layers. I tried ways to index the target layer to "DIE" but might not seem to operate.

    If (app.documents.length > 0 & & app.activeDocument.pathItems.length > 0) {}

    var doc = app.activeDocument;

    for (var i = 0; i < doc.pathItems.length; i ++) {}

    plotSet = doc.pathItems [i];

    plotSet.filled = false;

    plotSet.stroked = true;

    plotSet.strokeWidth = 2;

    plotSet.strokeOverprint = true;

    plotSet.strokeColor = doc.swatches ["PLOT"] .color;

    }

    }

    Here is an example of code rewriting your script:

    if(app.activeDocument.layers.getByName("DIE").pathItems.length > 0) {

        var tgt = app.activeDocument.getByName("DIE");

        for (var i = 0; i < tgt.pathItems.length; i++){
            plotSet = tgt.pathItems[i];
            plotSet.filled = false;
            plotSet.stroked = true;
            plotSet.strokeWidth = 2;
            plotSet.strokeOverprint = true;
            plotSet.strokeColor = doc.swatches.getByName("PLOT") .color;
            }
        }

  • How can I create a vector path around an image border?

    I've attached a screenshot of an image created in Photoshop CS4 with a wacom. It shows a gray line border around the whole image that was created with edit/stroke, and then color and width of the selected outline.

    What I want to do is to put that image in Illustrator CS4 and create a vector boundary road aroun d the image like the stroke limit in Photoshop. But I do not know how thatx except by manually with the pen tool.

    Anyone know if it is possible to create a vector path around the image in the same way that I created the line of race around the image in Photoshop?

    I need the vector path to make a cutting line to a laser cutter, which works with vector files.

    Thanks for any advice on this subject.Screen shot 2011-12-04 at 09.31.55.png

    If you already have the path traced in photoshop, go to file-> export-> tracks to Illustrator..., then choose the desired path and export. Open the file in Illustrator, then get the path.

  • Cut cleanly curved paths

    Hello! So, I have worked to try to do this cleanly shaved an once-a-circle curve off the coast to the edge of the box, it is on the top, but instead I always end up with the result that you see below:

    Screen Shot 2014-02-05 at 5.52.12 PM.png

    So, is there a way I can crop off the right edge instead of actually just shorten each time I try to get rid of the wick hanging there?

    Emma,

    You can object > path > Outline Stroke, then cut the new full path where it coincides with the edge of the green part, remove the surplus and Ctrl / Cmd + J to close.

    Or you can copy the green part and move it above the white trail in the stacking order (in the layers palette), select both and object > clipping mask > make.

    The old path creates a new path with the right end, the skins of the latter form the surplus way.

  • An excerpt from CAN (can edit, change, etc.) created from a trace of the image paths? (CS6)

    Hiya Adobe community,

    This might me up a little, but a long time ago I used to use Freehand as my defacto design tool until I went to I. At that time, I also used "Rationalize" (http://www.adobe.com/products/streamline/) to perform the functions track image is today. While its results were a little rough, the software gave me the vector points, paths and acnhors that I needed. After all the traces, I could manually change the vector traces resulting.

    I have been using the CS6 tracing feature, but the only thing I can't understand for the life of me is the question of the "bounding box" for an imported picture. Whenever I have draw a drawing, tracing of AI results always placed a bounding box around the area of the vectorized image. My goal: to locate an item, get rid of the bounding box and extract contours and paths so that I can then change to my link.

    Is this possible? Im sure it is possible... I can not find how. (Or I do the wishes of crack?) Everything I have said, if Streamline allowed me to change the track paths, so it would be a shame if AI CS6 is not.

    See the image attached for some content. Thanks in advance for any help!

  • How can I cut a piece of the ellipse to a photo?

    Good evening.

    How can I cut a piece of the ellipse to a photo?

    I have a picture and I would cut a piece of an ellipse of it and after that I want to save in a file photo.

    Hello

    To cut an image so that it has a form of ellipse, you must use the elliptical selection tool.

    Open Photoshop, then open your photo file. Double-click the photo layer in your layers palette to unlock the layer:

    Once you have double-clicked the layer, a dialog box will appear asking you to specify certain properties such as changing the name of the layer, opacity, etc. You can change these if you want, but for now, we will leave them in their default settings. Click 'Ok' to continue.

    Now that the layer is prepared and ready to be edited. Go to your toolbar. Find the box tool selection Rectangle, by default, that he has to have the rectangle tool set. To retrieve the elliptical selection tool, click and hold pressed down and a window with more pop tools - up will appear. Select the elliptical marquee tool.

    Now click and drag your image to an Ellipse. You will get a selection area marked by a perimeter of "mobile dash" around the selection of the Ellipse:

    If you're on a PC, click on CTRL + SHIFT + I to make a reverse selection. If you're on a Mac, click CMD + SHIFT + I. This will select the outer area of the ellipse that we come to draw with the elliptical selection tool.

    Now, click on the your keyboard delete key. This will reduce the rest of the image and the leaves you with an elliptical cut your image!

    I hope this helps! Let me know if you need more clarification!

  • Flash video, cut around a person (floating)

    looking for a way...   I would like to save someone who speaks and somehow cut around the person to use in Flash.   So I can fill the background or put the person on a picture or something.  Any ideas about the software or the people who can do this? Thank you very much

    probably the best way would be to use items first.

    Search this product and "green screen", you will find some tutorials.

    Basically, you shoot your video with a green screen behind a person.

    the video program deletes all green and leaves "space transparent."

    You can composite this video on anything and it will show through.

  • I bought a Macbook used, and now I can't update iMovie, iPhoto and iTunes without apple ID of the older owner how can I work around this?

    Hey everybody,

    This is my first post. A couple of years, I bought a used Macbook. I never did update (it is so long and then I decide to Watch youtube videos... it is not used for work or school). So now, I've updated the Yosemite and I want to get everything updated and it requires that I put a password of the former owner apple ID to update iTunes, iPhoto and iMovie. How can I get around this without reformatting and losing thousands of photos and all my files.

    Thank you guys.

    If you are the legal owner of the computer, but if the software you want is owned by another user is not yours. You cannot add any other purchases to your ID. You own, or that they are.
