Can I put a 'POWER' icon in my taskbar?

I am running Windows 8.1 on my brand-new ASPIRE TC - 115. There is no POWER icon on the desktop. I have to go to the page of TILES to reboot or turn off the computer. Is it possible to make this my taskbar to desktop POWER icon?

(I know this seems lazy, but I actually bought this for my husband ~ and it is only to learn how to use any computer.) "It would be so much easier to keep everything in the same place!)

Thank you!!

Hi kelbel

Try the following:

Right click on a space empty on your desktop. Click on new, then shortcut

A box will appear. Shutdown.exe/s/t 00 type and then click "next".

Name it Shutdown. Click on "Finish".

Right click the stop icon. Select Properties. Click on "change icon...". "Click 'OK' If you receive a message about Shutdown.exe contains no icons.

In the box that appears, click on the red square with a white circle in it:

then click on 'OK', then click 'Apply' then 'OK '.

Finally, click right icon & select "Pin to the taskbar.

I hope this helps!

  • How can I activate the power icon?

When I installed Windows 7, last weekend, there was a power icon in the system tray that I inadvertently disabled.  How can I get that back?  There is no entry for power when I click on Customize on the systray, so I can't enable it through the user interface.  I also looked in the registry to verify that the icon was not disabled it.

  • How can I put a custom icon on the MY COMPUTER folder on my desktop?

I am using windows 7 ultimate.  I recently had to reinstall my OS.  Before the reinstall, I had all my icons changed other than the regular folder photos.  I did this by clicking on each icon... Properties... Customize... Go to the icon... TADA!  For some reason, now I can't get that option when I right click on my computer and go to properties.  This is not an option.  Is there something else I should go for it?  Since a few years I did it originally, and I have the little icon that used to be on this issue - I can't put anywhere.

batch... If the first has, b, c steps are those that I said that I had made in my question.

"Click on the * my computer * folder of ANYWHERE opens the computer management screen - so not help using the folder location."

I found a way on my own since I posted.  For those who want something else have better/different desktop icons for your system on the desktop folders

right click on the open space on the desk... and customize

in the left column, there is a selection to change the icons * facepalm * can't imagine how I missed that before.  This will give you a screen context for what you do and don't want on the office and a field to change the icons too.
I think it is the only place to change those for
    my computer
    network
    Control Panel
    Recycle Bin
    hope that helps someone else

  • How can I add the weather icon to the taskbar to be next to the time?

Try as I might, I can't figure this out.  I would like to add the weather icon to the taskbar.  I want it to be next to the time, so it is always displayed.  How can I do this?  I also want to remove some of the icons that appear in the part of the notification of the taskbar.  Yet once, I can't do it.

To add items to the taskbar in Windows XP, do one click right, choose Properties, select "Show quick launch", then OK. Now you can add existing shortcuts to the quick launch area (which is pretty much a location allows you to customize your own shortcuts), or you can right click on the quick launch are to open its 'file', then create new shortcuts to here (right click-> new-> shortcut).

To remove the part of the taskbar notification icons: If you are indeed referring to the notification area near the clock, try right-clicking on the icon and look for an option to delete/remove/disable. Not all icons will have such an option. Additional details on the notification in Windows XP bar can be found here. If you are actually referring to quick launch (next), and then activate it as I've described in the paragraph above, then you should be able with the right button and then remove them.

    Hello j.choi.usc, welcome.

What is the power of default Windows tray icon or another utility? The start-up for the utility input could be disabled.

If it's the tray of Windows power icon, I recommend to try this:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/945011

Follow the instructions and use the function "Fix It". Make sure that you restart your computer afterwards before it takes effect.

Let us know if it works,

  • How can I restore my desktop icons and the taskbar icons

I tried to open a file with a program's .lnk and her was not recognized in the program, and now my desktop icons and my icons to the taskbar was converted into icons for the program. How to get this back? I need to know how to do this in Windows 7.

    [Moved from comments]

There are some patches for the issue that you siding, but most of them requires registry changes that I do not say that they can cause several other problems. I recommend that you perform a system restore.

There are two ways to perform the system restore:

Menu start open, click Run and type cmd to open the command prompt.

Type CD... to book only c:\.

Type windows CD then CD System32, and then restore.

    After once, you'll find yourself in c:\ windows\system32\restore >

    Type restrui.exe press ENTER.

Once the system restore the open window then click on next to select any available restore point.

This process takes a few minutes to do the restore and please make sure that once this process has begun there wont be reversible and or you will lose all personal data.

Another way to perform the system restore is to open the safe mode by clicking on F8 at startup and check the option of safe mode, then still a dialog box opens to ask the system restore and then follow the steps above.

    Hello

Thanks for posting this question in the Microsoft Community.

If I understand correctly, you are not able to arrange the icons on the bottom row of the display.

To help you to propose measures to solve the problem, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

    2. Since when are you facing the issue?

3 are you aware of any changes made to the computer before the show?

You can try updating the video card drivers and check if it helps. Visit the manufacturer's Web site or use the link provided.

Here is a link with the right information on the desktop. You can also see the article for more information about the Office Customization.

Hope this information was helpful and let us know if you need more assistance. We will be happy to help you.
