• How can I put a custom icon on the MY COMPUTER folder on my desktop?

  I am using windows 7 ultimate.  I recently had to reinstall my OS.  Before the reinstall, I had all my icons changed other than the regular folder photos.  I did this by clicking on each icon...   I found a way on my own since I posted.  For those who want something else have better/different desktop icons for your system on the desktop folders

  right click on the open space on the desk... and customize

  in the left column, there is a selection to change the icons * facepalm * can't imagine how I missed that before.  This will give you a screen context for what you do and don't want on the office and a field to change the icons too.

  There are some patches for the issue that you siding, but most of them requires registry changes that I do not say that they can cause several other problems. I recommend that you perform a system restore.

  There are two ways to perform the system restore:

  Menu start open, click Run and type cmd to open the command prompt.

  Type CD... to book only c:\.

  Type windows CD then CD System32, and then restore.

  After once, you'll find yourself in c:\ windows\system32\restore >

  Type restrui.exe press ENTER.

  Once the system restore the open window then click on next to select any available restore point.

  This process takes a few minutes to do the restore and please make sure that once this process has begun there wont be reversible and or you will lose all personal data.

  Another way to perform the system restore is to open the safe mode by clicking on F8 at startup and check the option of safe mode, then still a dialog box opens to ask the system restore and then follow the steps above.

• applying master pages to the pages of the document, can't drag any page icon that the hand tool loose when I move my mouse.

  My problem was that when I take and drag the page contained in the pages Panel icon, then place the cursor on the page icon of the document I wanted to apply mastering too.
  It did not show the hand with the icon of the master, or the border turn dark, waiting for the fall to apply the format of mask, hand became the pointer.

  I followed a suggestion to viola "remove-reboot-re install - restart" it works now!

  If you want to HIDE the task bar then right-click and uncheck LOCK - then right-click again
  Select Properties - tab bar tasks - check AUto-Hide TaskBar - APPLY / OK.

  If the taskbar is too high, then right-click - uncheck LOCK - and then enter the upper part of the taskbar
  to the left of the mouse and drag to the bottom and smaller.

  To view your files and your icons, download Unhide. Once downloaded, double-click display and let it run. It removes the attribute hidden on all files and try to restore the items on the start menu to their proper location.
