Can I reinstall Vista on a non - OEM drive

Hello

My PC has Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit preinstalled. I created recovery disks, but these disks contain all the unwanted of toshiba (toshiba satellite a300 - 1 mm is the laptop, if help) and there are no updates.

I want to install Vista from a clean disk that does not all that junk, and there SP2 preinstalled (and a few updates if this isn't a problem).

Is it possible to do so.

Thank you!

Hello

You can borrow and use a DVD of Vista Microsoft (retail or OEM de Microsoft System Builders DVD for sale), which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Can't reinstall Vista. Because Vista will not get to the Setup screen.

Hi people. Got a prob a little. Vista stopped booting the other night. So, I tried safe mode, and it hung on crcdisk.sys. So, I decided to get in shape. Problem is, it will boot from the DVD, but will not load / access the Setup screen (I waited for 7-8 minutes and nothing's happened, shows just the thing with the green bar).

Not too sure if it's because the hard drive is 1 TB (but Vista was on the same front hdd with Windows 7). I tried to remove the 2 GB of ram (I use 4). No go. Tried another DVD rom, not go. Removed USB devices that have been connected. No go. I know that the DVD itself is fine. I tried on the other PC here, the installation screen came within 2-3 minutes. But his is not a 1 to (its 250 GB) the only DVD that will work / I install is the Windows 7 DVD.  So, how can I reinstall Vista?

I deleted all partitions / recreated with the Win7 installation as well. Still couldn't get Vista to get to the Setup screen

    Any info appreciated

    Thank you

Finally fixed it. I read that USB legacy can also cause this. So, I disabled it. Everything is good. Managed to get to the Setup screen, then reinstall Vista

  • Reinstalling Vista on a new hard drive in a Dell XPS420

I have been using my Dell XPS 420 for years, but lately the C: drive (with Windows Vista Home Premium and the recovery partition) are dead. I had to reinstall Vista on a new hard drive. It went well until Vista was finished all the updates that are accumulated. He says that my Windows is not genuine, and he refused to go further than the connection. The Windows CD is Dell and it came with the computer. My Dell warranty expired a long time ago. Can anyone help?

Using the recovery process of the manufacturer normally does not require activation. It will activate itself during the recovery process.

After obtaining a hard drive in working condition, you can reinstall the software using the discs if you bought the discs, or you can download your software as a trial version and use your original serial number to activate it.

If the software is the latest version, you can download it from the Adobe product pages.

If the software is an older version, you can download the demo version of the software using the link below and then use your current serial number to activate it.

  • can I reinstall vista, removed hard drive?

    Hello

Licenses, Activation and hardware drivers problems do not work how the other poster tells you

If this hard drive was put in another computer, it would not work for 2 reasonns.

1, it will NOT be activated until the preinstaled license OEM, a computer brand, DELL, HP, etc, is related to the original machine it was installed on

    2. it would not in all the probability of starting as this removed hard disk motherboard drivers required in order for it to work on your laptop, not another machine

many people take a hard drive out so that they can keep them on private data they sell laptop

also with regard to what the other poster told you about the recovery partition:

It won't work that on YOUR laptop, NOT another machine, the hard disk may be implemented

Here's how to reinstall Vista on your laptop:

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

  • How can I reinstall Vista (free) after the failure of my hard drive?

My hard drive needs a total deletion.  After a reformat can I reinstalled my Vista Ultimate without having to buy a new copy?  (I have the same question about Office 2007, streets and trips 2009).

    Thank you.

Most laptops and many OEM desktop computers (HP, Sony, etc.) come with a picture of factory restore on a special partition on the hard drive. The factory restore process is normally called by pressing a key of function (such as F11) to start the computer. There will be a message as to what function key press the screen when you start your computer. You can also consult the manual of your computer or the computer mftr.'s site, or contact technical support to learn how to restore your computer if you plant from each computer mftr. He does it differently - sometimes even between models.

These machines also generally have a utility to create physical recovery disks in case the hard drive needs to be replaced or the factory restore image is somewhat damaged. If you have not created the recovery image recovery physical and/or damaged disks, contact technical support of computer mftr. to order a set of recovery disks. It is normally very expensive, around $25-50.

If your office and streets & trips are preinstalled, you would contact the computer mftr. for the installation of replacement media. Otherwise reinstall them using a CD that you have.

  • Satellite P100-276 - can't reinstall Vista from external CD drive

    ? 15/03/2013 15:03

My Toshiba P100-276 Vista Home Premium crashed for the last time, so I bought a new hard drive.
Internal CD player had not worked for some time, but had happened before.
It would always work again when I reinstalled Vista.
    Not now, however.
So my pc - guy installed the new drive and tried to install Vista from my USB - CDRom-drive.
Which has resulted in these messages:

    and:
    http://wikisend.com/download/363738/20130313_171457.jpg

Googleing it, it turns out that you can solve this problem by changing the 'compatibility' mode in the bios, but not in MY bios.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB0402V30000R01NL.htm

Install a new CD player might settle it, but would be costly and complex at the same time.
I'm writing this using Ubuntu, who btw had no difficulties to install from the external drive.

    All solutions?

In the past, several people have reported the same problem.
Also, are you using the original recovery disk or the Microsoft installation disc?

The simplest solution is to buy the new optical disk drive. You can find it on eBay and it is cheap for this old machine. You can exchange it in 2 minutes, and everything will be OK again.

In the user s manuals document you can find a list of all compatible optical disk drives.
Satellite P100 is a fairly old machine, but if you use the original recovery disk it contains good SATA driver.

    "Press a key to continue."

    And thye ned.

    All ideas

    Hello

Hmm, looks like the laptop cannot restore the operating system from the recovery image
To be honest I'm not very well why this error pops up but eventually it s m related to the new HARD drive installation.

Perhaps, you can format the HARD drive again using a clean Microsoft Windows CD (Win XP, etc.).
Boot from the CD of Win and format the HARD drive.
Then go to the recovery disk, boot from the recovery disc and try reinstalling the operating system

    Maybe it would work

    Hi Helen,

If you try to start from scratch, the new facility is the option.

Note: after a clean installation, all data, programs, and drivers on the computer will be lost. It is recommended to make a backup of your important data before performing any installation. You need to reinstall the device drivers. Make sure that you back up office documents before re-formatting of the computer.

You can follow the steps mentioned in the link below to reinstall Windows Vista.

Insert the office disc and start the Setup (.exe), follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

  • How can I reinstall Vista Home Premium?

I want to reinstall Vista Home premium in my lobtop. Help me please

Vista Media recovery obtaining and/or using the Vista recovery on your computer Partition to factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
