  • Search duplicate files which are not linked to Active Folders

I have several duplicates in my iTunes. Most of the duplicates is more related to active records. I can find how to find duplicates and I can find how to remove them, but there is no sort option that detects files that are not in my current records.

I don't know what you mean by "linked to active records. Do you mean that you have files in folders that are not related to iTunes, or your library entries that are not related to the files?

iTunes can create duplicates if the same content is added several times from outside the media folder when it is about to make copies of everything that is added to the library, or is added from an external drive that hosts the press kit that was disconnected during the launch of iTunes.

Official notice of Apple on the duplicates is here: find and remove duplicates in your iTunes library. This is a manual process and article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as the lost coast and membership of playlist, or sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library as well as a removal and recycling the file will break all the others.

Use MAJ > display > show items to reproduce exactly to display the duplicates because it is normally a selection more useful. You must manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sort the list by Date added can make easier select appropriate tracks, but it works better when executed immediately after the dupes were created.  If you have several entries in iTunes connected to a same file on the disk hard then don't not send to trash.

Use my DeDuper script (Windows only) If you are not sure, do not want to do it by hand, or want to maintain ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this background thread , this post for detailed instructions and Please take note of the warning to back up your library before deduping.

(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to temporarily view or CTRL + B to keep displayed.)

The latest version of the script can put away the dead links as long as there is at least a double live to merge his stats and membership of the playlist and must deal wisely when the same file has been added through multiple paths.

In its current form the script processes only the files that are added to the library. If you have orphaned files in the media folder these could be added to the library before you start deduping.

  • Cannot import music files from Apple in fcpx

Does anyone know how to import Apple music tracks saved in my music in iTunes to fcpx? Dragging to the timeline seems like it works, but you can't see the sound waves and when you play, there is no music.

Perhaps because he protected the copy-written music.

Here is a support document tHat explains more in detail.

  • LiveCycle Management 9 rights-protected files are not indexed?

Hi all, I have a question, LiveCycle Management 9 rights-protected files are not indexed?  is this true?

    Kind regards.

When you create a strategy, one of the properties that you set determines what is encrypted when the policy is applied to a document.  You can set it to...

    1. Encrypt the entire file, which means that the document could not be searched\indexed as all the content of the document, including the meta data in an encrypted state.
    2. Encrypt the document except meta date, which means that the document can be searched\indexed based on metadata as it is NOT encrypted
    3. No encryption, which means that the document, including the meta data is not in an encrypted state and can therefore be searched\indexed.

    I hope this helps.

  • Cannot open DOC files that are sent to me. I have wordpad and Notepad on my computer but you do not have Microsoft Office

    original title: DOC files

Cannot open DOC files that are sent to me. I have wordpad and Notepad on my computer but you do not have Microsoft Office. Most of the time, I get a screen that says 'open' or 'save' the file and when I click on 'Open', this message disappears. Sometimes it opens, but the message is completely scrambled with letters and symbols.

Cannot open DOC files in wordpad or Notepad. you will need a more advanced software suite. Try OpenOffice.org - it's free, and it supports the DOC format. But the best solution is to get Microsoft Office once and for all.

Download OpenOffice.org: http://download.openoffice.org/contribute.html?download=mirrorbrain&files/stable/3.2.1/OOo_3.2.1_Win_x86_install-wJRE_en-US.exe. Note: Click on the link at the bottom that says "http://download.services.openoffice.org/files/stable/3.2.1/OOo_3.2.1_Win_x86_install-wJRE_en-US.exe" to download the program.

    This should solve your problem,

  • Adding library folder returns an error ""this network location cannot be included because it is not indexed.

I'm trying to share my MUSIC on my Windows Home Server (WHS) folder in my music library.  Here's how my MUSIC folder is organized:

    MUSIC
    -> Songs1
    -> Songs2
    -> Songs3
    -> Chansons4
    -> Chansons5

Quite simply structure, so thought that this should not be a problem. If I add the entire folder to the library only 1/3 of my songs are listed. In trying to understand what is happening, I found that only 2 to 5 subfolders under the MUSIC are included (songs.1 and chansons5).

Again, I deleted the folder "MUSIC" from the library and then add each indivually subfolder. What I found is I might add 2 subfolders (songs.1 and chansons5), but adding that the 3 other subfolders returns an error message, "" the network location cannot be included because it is not indexed".  If I add a new folder under MUSIC I can't add it to the library either.

I think it should have some type of security or user problem, but can't think of what it would be, since some of the subfolders under the MUSIC can be recognized, while others, including the new folders cannot be added. Someone at - it suggestions?

I would add that I have no problem with adding my video or picture file to my WHS library.

Problem has been solved - thought I would post an update if someone of another encounter this type of behavior.

By continuing to try to understand why only the music files on my server would not be updated I fell into my "homegroup". I checked the settings and noticed that 'MUSIC' was not checked in the "Shared libraries and printers' (don't know why or how). I then checked the box and now I can move my files on the server and the path is updated in the library.

  • Files which are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions

I get this window popping up that reads, "files required for Windows to run correctly have been replaced by unrecognized versions.»  To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files.  Insert your Windows XP Professional CD2 now. "The problem is that I'm not running XP Professional.  I am running XP Media Edition (do not know what version - when I look at 'System' in the control panel it says version 2002, but the OS disc that came with my computer says version 2005 with update rollup 2).  In any case, I only have an installation disc, and when I insert it, the computer tells me it's the wrong disc.  What should I do?

    God help us all...

Is the CD you have an XP bootable installation CD authentic or some kind of restore CD provided with your system (they are not the same thing).  If it's a CD of Windows, this Service Pack is on the CD?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

What is your Service Pack installed?  If you are not sure, do the following:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Msinfo32

Click on OK and when the system info summary appears, click on Edition, select all, copy, and then paste the results here.

There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and what appears to be personal information for you, simply delete the personal information of the pasted information.

When you see a message like this:

    Windows file protection
Files which are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions.  To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files.

I hope that you are curious to know what is the file and when you know that, you can decide what to do about it.

You must click Cancel, and then click Yes to keep the file, then you will have an event to watch which will tell you what the problem is the file.

Search where you sign in to see what is the name of file system Viewer, then decide what to do.

The event will look something like in this example:

    Event type: Information
    Event source: Windows File Protection
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 64005
    Date: 10/01/2011
    Time: 14:41:56
    Description:
The protected system file taskmgr.exe had not been restored in its original, valid version because the Windows File Protection restoration process was cancelled by user interaction, user name is Jose.  The file version of the bad file is unknown.

When you know what the file is, you can decide what to do about it.  There are probably other copies of the files on your system, or you can get the files from another source.

A shortcut to the event viewer is to click on start, run and enter in the box:

    eventvwr.msc

Click OK to launch the event viewer.

Check your event observer system log and look for a proposed Windows file protection event.

If you double-click on an event, it will open a window of properties with more information.  On the right are black up and down arrow keys to scroll through the open events. The third button that looks like two overlapping pages is used to copy the details of the event in your Windows Clipboard.

When you find an interesting event that occurred at the time of your question, click on the third button at the top and arrows to copy the details and then you can paste the details (right click, paste or CTRL-V) the text in detail here for analysis.  Remove all personal information from your information after you paste If you are forced to do so.

P.S. Let us know how you go with these Microsoft KB article suggestions.

To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files. Insert your Windows XP Home Edition CD-Rom now. Hello

    1. have you made any hardware changes or software on the computer before this problem?
    2. when exactly you receive popup?

Run SFC scans the computer and check.

SFC tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
    2. right click on cmd in the list programs and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue

    3. at the command prompt, type the following line and press ENTER:

    sfc/scannow

  • File extensions are not displayed in my windows Explorer

I use Windows XP SP2. Since I do on this specific computer software development, being able tp see file extensions in my window of the Explorer would be very useful. I already tried the standard tool > Folder Options > view tab > show the file extensions for known file types to achieve this, but it does not display the extensions.

It is a big problem for me because when I need to do something with executables of the application that I've done, I have to guess which file is good.

Does anyone know why my file extensions are not display? Logan Young, hopeful MCPD Web Developer

You must determine if the computer is really clean. I like Avira, but antivirus programs are not designed to catch non-viral malware. Do preparatory work to get rid of temporary and Temporary Internet Files, describes the relationship I have everything first you gave (and repeated below for convenience), then run MBAM.

    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Another thing to check - after the computer is really clean - if the problem occurs in a different user account. You will need your colleague to create a test account in the server, then the one on your computer. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

Cannot delete the file.  Says "not not found could not find this item check the location of this object and try again."

I got this file from my friend got sent - is a word document, I had on their computer.  So I tried to use Disk Cleanup to delete temporary files, temporary internet files and files program downloaded.  Does not work.

When I check the properties, there is no security tab so I can't transfer ownership in this way.

I don't want to experiment using the way of the transfer of ownership command prompt as the name of the file is several sentences long.  I can't rename it either, of course.

Windows 7, a week and I already have a stupid problem which has already lost an hour of my time.

What I did was to create a Notepad file that was empty and saved in the same location as the file that won't go away.  Once registered.  I click with the right button on the new file and rename the exact name as the file problem.  Don't forget to change the file extension (ex: .doc)

    ex file problem: word.doc

    new file: word.doc

as long as they match eachother exactly you should see the file problem disappear and once that's gone, you can delete the new file created.
