Cannot open preferences in Lightroom
Hello, Just got Lightroom on my pc. I use Windows 10. I have a problem when I open the preferences. Lightroom doesn't open preferences and ends by itself. Please advice...
HI irisharm,
Could you please confirm the version of Lightroom that you have on the computer.
If it's 6 Lightroom then please try the following:
- Please, go to the Windows, where Device Manager, expand display adapters.
- Turn off the graphics card and open Lightroom, go to Lightroom preferences, then the performance tab, and then uncheck the option "use graphics processor.
- Lightroom farm and go back to Device Manager and activate the graphic card.
- Open Lightroom and then work in Lightroom and check if it works very well.
Kind regards
Tanuj

You go to the Safari menu select Preferences? Perhaps you need to install the 10.11.3 combo update to resolve questions if it does not work.

I downloaded the trial version of 2015 CC Photoshop and Lightroom. At first, I couldn't open RAW files in Photoshop using a Pentax KS-1 and the DNG, which is a native raw format for this camera. I've downloaded ACR 9.9.1 and it worked. However, it does not work in Lightroom. I can import RAW files and see the thumbnails and preview. But when I select one and click on to develop, the preview shows a white blue background with an X through it. I have the RAW just no image to work on the interface. Can someone tell what I can do to remedy this? As I said, this is a test, so I have 30 days to decide whether to subscribe.
Blue screen with white X is solved by going into your Lightroom preferences, performance tab and uncheck the option "use graphics processor.

Cannot open preferences of Adobe Media Encoder
I have a problems with the encoding, so tried several relocations. Finally managed to do work by removing only not preferences on reinstall it. However, I am still unable to open the preferences. I'm going to Media Encoder CC > Preferences... and nothing happens. It's using the latest version of SOUL CC (2015.3) on Mac OS El Capitan (10.11.6). Everyone knows this?
Hi Jayne,
You have an external monitor connected?
Also, try the following steps:
Go to the following locations:
1 location: In the Finder, click go > go to folder > ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Situation 2: Go > go to folder > ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe
Location 3: Documents > Adobe
Everywhere, rename the folders 'Adobe' to 'OldAdobe '.
Launch Adobe Media Encoder, accept the license agreement and see if it works.
Note: You will lose your customized workspaces and keyboard shortcuts.
Thank you

Cannot open photo in lightroom 5.7 as a smart object in items 13
Tried to reinstall and update of lightroom and elements without success (using Windows 10); online search found messages with the similar problem, but no real solution.
You must have version FULL of Photoshop to use the command 'open as Smart Object in Photoshop... ». This does not work with the elements.

Cannot open preferences in Illustrator.
Preferences dialog box does not show and program blocks each time. Patches or workarounds? Running Windows 7, Illustrator CS5 (15.1.0)
Found a different and easier solution: open with Illustrator, turned off all monitors and on their return. Apparently, the preferences box opened a place off the screen. Turn off the monitors forced it appears on the screen when the computer reconnects to the monitors. Problem seems to be fixed now.

Get the message "This Mac cannot connect to iCloud due to a problem with my Id, open Preferences to solve iCloud iCloud" after entering my password which is accepted and then after a minute or two messages is.
I'm your pain ptapp!
Through my research for an answer that solves this problem, I have found that not even Apple knows how to solve this problem of password to iCloud.
All 4 of my devices constantly ask my password because of some problems with xyz account.
Then I enter the password only to be told that iCloud cannot check my password.
Then after several repetitions of this I get locked and have to go to the site apple id to change my password.
I didn't spend $6 000 on these beautiful devices so I could spend countless hours dealing with support (with no positive result) and find themselves just beyond myself in frustration. I have a Mac Pro, 2 iPads, 2 iPhones and an iPod touch. All are behaving this way, no matter what it is I'm doing at the time.
Apple needs to fix this problem, if they have any idea how to.

I got lightroom for a year, but for a few months now lightroom just will not open. I click on the app and it comes up with a box saying "Lightroom catalog named"Lightroom Catalog"cannot open another application has opened" and gives me the option to choose a different catalog, to continue or exit, but if I try to choose another catalogue none of my catalogs are here. Does anyone have an Adviser on how to solve this problem? I already tried to uninstall lightroom and enter the taskmanager to shut what is open and they do not work.
Charlotteb salvation,
With Lr closed go to the location where your catalog (by default it is Pictures/Lightroom)
Remove the . Lock file with the same name as your catalog. For example, in the image below, it is Lightroomcatalog.lrcat.lock
- Rename or delete the Lightroomcatalog.lrcat.lock file.
- Restart Lightroom
Let us know if that helps.
Kind regards

My lightroom crashes after trying to open preferences
Hi all
I have a problem trying to open preferences resulting in a crash and the release of lightroom.
Change the autobahn use affecting false in the preferences file as well as change the number format setting in windows such as proposed in another post does not help or change anything.
Thank you all for your help.
Thank you guys. The back of the trace is very useful.
In the @jarmilaw37333836 and @squeezy, Lightroom attempts to retrieve the path of the file system to the 'My pictures' folder that is associated with your account on your local Windows machine and somehow he failed and could not retrieve the path.
Is there something unique about your installation? After doing some googling, I found this missing repair Windows 7 user records | Scottie Tech.Info that may be useful.

I can't open my lightroom application. I get a pop up box with the following message is displayed:
Cannot open the lightroom catalog named lightroom 5 because it is open in another application already. Leave the other copy of lighroom before trying to launch.
I am running windows 7, 64 bit
Help, please
In the folder where the catalogue is there is probably a .lock file. Delete this file only , and then try again.
It is created to prevent Lightroom used simultaneously by more than 1 user, and if Lightroom is not shutdown properly for some reason some may remain in the folder.

This means that you try to open a catalog from Lightroom CC/6 in an earlier version of Lightroom
What version of Lightroom you have installed?
