Cannot run javascript via the URL bar

https://support.Mozilla.com/en-us/questions/871548
I suffer from this, the solution to use a bookmark works however I want to know how and what changes prevent the use of the URL bar for such things.

Sometimes the Firefox will respond to it being pasted into the URL bar and sometimes it won't. It doesn't seem to be any logic behind it where my question.

Edit: and just for the love of him, not really important but how do make you links mailto always open in a new tab?

JavaScript runs with different levels of access rights. When you type something in the got, it recover without access rights (main Null - from Firefox 6 see question 876916), you can do almost anything. A bookmarklet runs with page access rights, so it can make more like alert ('hello') etc. JavaScript that runs inside an add-on has full power and can do anything 'chrome privileges.

    I used to be able to run this simple line of java code from the URL window in google maps to get the lat / long, to a point.

    However since I upgraded firefox recently, I get no results by typing this in the URL, not even an error message window. I checked all the settings of javascript under Tools, options, they are all turned on.

    Why does this is no longer an alert with coordinates lat/long as window before? Should what setting I change to restore this feature?

  • Avoid a string to be treated as a protocol in the url bar

    I use toolbar url to google and other search engines.
    If I want to use the "site:" string of keyword search in one single site firefox tells me that the Protocol (site) is not associated
    I want to just use google, firefox should not intervene.
    How to do this?

    You can also use a keyword search to avoid traffic jams with tent at a glance upward with a search for a Word through the address bar.

    I use a simple 'g' for searching with Google.

    It's easier to add quotes to me.

    You can create a keyword bookmark or add a keyword in a search engine via the search bar settings

    1. Right click on icon to search on the search bar engine
    2. Open Manage search engines
    3. Click Change keyword
  • The URL bar AutoComplete feature does not work correctly, does anyone else have this problem?

    I was running version 9.x and had this problem, so I've just updated to 11 of Firefox, but it does not help.

    The problem is that the URL bar doesn't let me type a new address in some cases - preferring instead to refer to a previously visited address. It would be better if I gave an example:

    I'm trying to access a site, that I have not visited, for example holden.com.au

    I type 'h', and the URL bar suggests that I go to my Hotmail login page (the URL for that starts by of ') and the rest of the extreme Auto (so now I'm in the situation where I have an address in the bar from '). This means that I can not continue to enter the address provided.

    Can it be fixed or is it just a question for me?

    I solved this problem by going to: setting up and activating/deactivating the browser.urlbar.autoFill layout. I think the default setting has been changed in a recent update.

  • How to debug a form (Oracle Forms 11 G) via the URL module

    How to debug a form (Oracle Forms 11 G) via the URL module.

    My server operating system is Unix. Then, I could not able to do forms of debugged by the form developer.
    It displays a message "cannot find module '. Because the system tries to find the module in the Unix system instead of my local system (Windows).

    I need to debug module my via a URL.
    I can place the fmb and fmx in path of form in the server.

    Please, help me to solve this problem...

    It's a little uncertain. If your goal is to use the form Builder debugger during execution of your form on a Unix machine, this can be done. However, the form must be in working order. So before you try to attach the debugger, you must first be able to start without the debugger. For example:

    http://yourserver:OHS_port_number/forms/frmservlet? form = yourFMX

    Once it works correctly, you can turn on debugging. If your form does not even, using the debugger will not help you because it is designed to solve the problems and not coding configuration problems.

    So, follow these steps to use the debugger:

    http://yourserver:OHS_port_number/forms/frmservlet? form = yourFMX & debug = yes

    This will display a dialog box with information. Do not click OK, but you will need this information to enter in the Forms Designer. Now, open the Forms Designer and click Debug > attach Debug. You will be asked for the information displayed in the dialog box where you tried to start the form. Enter it here (in the constructor), and then click ok in both places. To display the debugger (in Report Builder), click Debug > Debug Console. And then on the toolbar, click the buttons associated with what you want to monitor. Including a breakpoint in your application code is often a more useful way to use the debugger.

    Most of this information is explained in the Forms Builder online help

    I forgot to mention...

    For debug runtime problems, see the deployment of forms here Guide (this implies that you use 11.1.2):

  • Suggestion of domain in the URL bar

    This new feature of the 43 version, as shown in the image, is not very useful for me, because I am more often than not visit a page on a site, instead of the domain of the site itself. Whereas before I would just have to type a letter and press ENTER, I must now hit the down arrow and click on enter. I know this isn't a lot of work, but these things annoy me. Is there a topic: config to get rid of this new behavior change?

    Hmm, interesting. The first item on the list, which for me is preselected, seems to provide information on what will happen if you press enter or click the Go button. For example, if you have the URL bar auto-complete enabled (which is the default value), a corresponding site is displayed. If you disable the feature AutoFill, you could get an indication that will search in Firefox for the characters you typed. I have attached the screenshots contrast for reference.

    I think that if you want to use an item in the list, you must always press the arrow pointing to the same number of times as before.

    If you do not want this visual cue, it can be removed by disabling a preference, but this preference may have other important aspects that would be also disabled, so be on the lookout for unexpected changes in the behavior of the bar, and let us know there are problems.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press enter/return. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste URLB and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete to true to false

    Who help me?

    Alternatively, you can probably use a custom style rule to hide the explanatory entry, but I have not dug into that yet.

    I think that this two buttons must be in the url bar. Are easier to find and smaller than the bar.

    You can watch the classic extension theme restaurateur restore some features that has been lost with the arrival of the Australis style in Firefox 29.

    You can access the parameter of the extension of the CTR through the Options/preferences button in Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions

  • Refresh/Stop button is missing from the URL bar in 27 FF.

    My position only bar shows 'bookmark this page' and the history of drop down menu on the right. He used to have a button that switches between refresh and stop depends on whether a page was currently loading, which is gone.

    It happened after restarting FF to install an add-on. I don't know if updated FF to update at the same time; He could have. I am now on 27.0.1 and I had installed HideMyAss, which installed its own toolbar button, and also the refresh and stop buttons were no longer in my URL bar, but now they were separated from the buttons in the Navigation toolbar.

    I can't go back into the URL bar. I uninstalled the add-on, I tried drag-and - drop the buttons on the URL bar and I tried to 'Restore the default game' in the toolbar customization dialog. None of these work.

    Thanks Diego!

    The problem was these lines of Localstore.rdf:

       <RDF:Description RDF:about="chrome://browser/content/browser.xul#nav-bar"
                       collapsed=""
                       iconsize="large"
                       mode="icons"
                       currentset="unified-back-forward-button,urlbar-container,reload-button,webrtc-status-button,stop-button,downloads-button,lpt_lastpass-compact-btn,window-controls,social-share-button,tp-notification-popup-icon,pilot-notification-popup" />

    compared to the localstore - safe.rdf, which was:

       <RDF:Description RDF:about="chrome://browser/content/browser.xul#nav-bar"
                       currentset="unified-back-forward-button,urlbar-container,reload-button,stop-button,webrtc-status-button,bookmarks-menu-button,downloads-button,home-button,window-controls,social-share-button" />

    This is probably the entry:

       collapsed=""

    saying Firefox not to collapse the buttons into a single. I deleted all the lines with the exception of leave and everything was back to normal.

    Thanks again.

  • Weird space on the URL bar

    Their is a strange space on the URL bar between the URL itself and the back button

    Here is a screenshot: http://prntscr.com/1x5zuz

    Its really annoying... Help, please

    This can be caused by the presence of a disabled extension that uses this space to display the data.

    You have the SimplePass fingerprint reader?

    If this is the case then you must install and enable this extension, or disable this software.

  • Search engine box change also affects the default search engine in the URL bar

    I've just updated to 23.0, and for some reason, change the search engine in the search box also changes the default search engine in the URL bar as well. I don't know if it's intended functionality (I hope that's not), but it is a bit irritating. I didn't know if it was related to an add-on that I installed it at the same time, so I tried to turn that off, but the problem was still there. so I tentatively guess it has to do with 23.0.

    Hello, yes it is (unfortunately) the new behavior in firefox 23 and upward and was introduced to solve the problem that several tools/adware toolbars are crush keyword.url unbeknownst to users preference...

  • Stop coming google results after attempts to use the URL bar!

    I just installed the latest firefox and am angry. I used to be able to grasp things in the URL bar and firefox would direct me to the relevant Web site, no questions asked. I could type, for example, 'BBC world news' in the URL bar, and after knocking entered, I would be on the site of BBC News world. Now, "bbc world news" by typing in the URL bar gives me some GOOGLE RESULTS! Why? I search Google. What I liked about Firefox, it's that he could send you to the websites you wanted to go and all you have to type keywords... I can't go to a page of search results for NO REASON. How to do this job properly, as formerly?

    'No useful response', note.

    When you went directly to a web site, which was also a Google search, there are three different searches Google listed in the article, and each is described, choose the one you want, I think that all three of them or something similar with labels of Firefox has been used by Firefox.
