I have no idea how I did all this and come back to this computer from the place of the computer because the old hard drive died on me and they put in another. It was working fine until I felt the need to clear up disk space and delete some old programs. I'm sure I messed up and deleted a file that was necessary to open others. I don't have the XP disk to try a fix and nothing in the pages of microsoft download will run. Oh please I don't want to take that back to the computer type that will charge me an arm and a leg.   I can't run a SETUP program. EXE file to the CD-RW/DVD drive (SD-R2412). OS is WIN XP Pro SP2. On other computers on the same (commercial software) CDROM can be isntalled.

  However, this error may also be due:

  i. due to a malware/spyware infection.
  II. or if there are remnants of previously uninstalled of programs in the registry

  I suggest you use the Windows clean up utility and remove all entries of all unused/uninstalled programs remains.

  2. save the file on the computer.

  3. install this tool on the computer.
