Cannot save PDF as reduced file size.  Help!

Hello

I use Acrobat XI (Version 11.0.07) on an iMac and a MacBook Pro.  Both are 2015 models, high spec running OSX El Capitan.

I was always able to create PDF files and save them in PDF of reduced size.  However, ea lot of time I now try to save a PDF file in smaller size PDF format I get a warning of Conversion window popping up saying "Please check if you have permission to write to this location and have enough disk space."

I get the same message on both computers.  I am the only person who uses, have full administrator permissions and there are more than enough disk space on them.  I can always create original PDFs in Acrobat.  It won't let me back up files smaller.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance...

Nick

Here is the solution for it:

Go to: editing, preferences, Documents and change the display/a mode forever.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 a A910a - cannot save pdf in multiple files via touch screen

    Hello world

My problem is that I can't save my scans in multiple files (.pdf) If you use the "scan to file function" via the touch screen on my Officejet Pro 8500 A910a a shortcut. It works when scaning manually from the computer, but I need to work from the printer/scanner.

The only way that the scan shortcut saves each page separately (works the way I need) is when you save as a .jpg file, but this isn't the exit, I need. I search for an .xml file change the shortcuts manually, but have not found one. Since my other printer 8500 A909a can analyze each page in a single .pdf file, it must be a question of settings that the A910a does not offer this parameter directly.

I appreciate any assistance with this problem.

    Hi RnRMusicMan,

the solution you are suggesting is what I have now and the reason why I even started this thread. Analysis each page separately from the touch screen is a pain in the a * and analysis of PC via a scan profile is not the way to go for me either. Thank you in any case, it seems like it is actually a problem in the software and I have to be careful next time, choose a new printer.

    Hi Koumack,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that you are trying to save your scans in multiple files (.pdf) using the analysis of the function of file.

That's what I could find in my resources:

How to perform a scan: from the control panel

Breast of HP Scan, select scan on a daily basis, and then click Advanced settings, select the file tab and check create a separate file for each scanned page. Click OK. It should work from the software.

Otherwise, even if it may be a longer process, as a work around the printer, you can scan a page using the scanner glass.

Hope this helps and have a nice day.

As I had not heard of you, I tried to 'cut' of this folder and pasted into a folder, I called "temptemp" in the same root fodler lacation, (not in the original file). Run the program and it gave me the same error and closed again.  Any help now?

    Hi MASPAdministrator,

Your Windows XP question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro TechNet public. Please post your question in the TechNet Windows XP forum.

  • Interactive PDFs - reducing file size?

    Hi again,

I have created a pdf page turn and may not work on how to reduce the size of this file. I tried to reduce the size of jpeg to a minimum in the settings of ad and, of course, using 72 dpi with a result without any reduction in the size of the file. Anyone think just to get there 1 meg? I want to change the PDF from 6.4 to < 5mg to make email friendly! If were were not clear, please do not hesitate to ask me more questions if you think that you may be able to help.

    Thank you very much

    Sam

PDF files do not support "change page", so what you did is a single page PDF file that contains an annotation Flash full page. Inside it is a SWF file (usually a bunch of them) which contains your document real, and nothing of what acrobat does with PDF compression settings will all relate to the content of SWF files embedded - the only way to do that is to change the parameters of quality in the original application that exports SWFs.

This seems to be a problem independent of the operating system or version of the product. What happens and when can we expect a patch? The fact that Adobe is unable to save a PDF file to other file formats has been a permanent frustration of my colleagues and myself for some time. I would be very grateful to know a method to fix the error so that we no longer have to rely on third party software to do the job that your product is supposed to do.

Also, if anyone out there is in the same boat, I encourage you to take the floor. I also encourage other people to try to save the PDF files as images and report if you encounter the same problem.

    Hi Geoffrey,.

Thank you for pointing out this problem. Let me check a few details about this problem with Acrobat.

In the meantime, please try this:

    Open a PDF in Acrobat

Go to file > export to > Image > JPEG

Save as dialog click on the settings button in the lower part

    In the color management pane

Click on the drop down to RGB

    Select Off & Ok

Save the file in JPEG format

I would like to know if it works.

    Thank you

  • Cannot save PDF files: "program error".

I have to save a file in PDF format with the [PDF / X-4: 2008] preset, for offset printing, but I get "Can not save as"nomdefichier.pdf"because of a program error."...
It will save in the preset "high quality print" and other formats, but not this preset.  I thought it may have been a corrupted layer or something because it was created from a template downloaded from printing, but I get the same error message when you try to save the other simple files in PDF format...

    I am running CS5.1 on OSX 10.9.2...

I'm feeling a little stuck, don't know how to do this...

any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

Well, it seems that I figured out, and I'll share the solution for all those looking for the same thing.  I didn't reset the preferences of re from photoshop in command, Option, shift.  a prompt appears and asks that if you want to remove preferences, say Yes.  It worked!

  • Pages 5.6.1 "Reduce file size" appears broken

I write weekly newsletters and for years have used Pages, insert my iPhone photos and recording ("printing") for .pdf before distributing by e-mail. My last step after cropping and place all the pictures are always to "reduce the size of the file. It was that I had to right click on each photo as the function was there. Then he moved on the file menu under Advanced... but even worked. An improvement, as all files was done at a time, which would usually be what we want. However, since this 5.6.1 upgrade, my file is no longer running between 1 and 4 MB but rather 22Mo and pages says it's reducing the size. I went down to just text and then it is just 1 MB, excellent; each photo is available in about 1-2MB but, I watched the size increase in the finder, I have re-add-the in. Him are still not reduced, at a lower resolution.

I know I can do it manually in a different application, but my current process is an hour by the task of the week, and that the only function makes the timeline work. If I come and go between applications and crop and adjust, and reduce each of my photos from 12-20, I add 50% to 100% more time to my approach.

Advice on a work around so that Apple fixes the function? Also, Yes, I can go back to old pages, but the reason why I went to the newest one is I got a file written in 5.6.1 and it opens only if you upgrade. So it will come my way again.

    Thank you.

It works for me on El Capitan.  It took a 924 KB file 427 KB. You have he tired on the other files

Have you tried to register a preview slot and by reducing the size via the Quartz filter?

  • Cannot save your work - says file name is not valid.

I had trouble with my program of 12 items on Windows 7.  First of all, I got an error 16 then I solved that and now when I try to save a file I get the message "cannot save file"C:\\"filename... "" not valid ".  How can I fix it?  Help please!

Thanks for your reply, but I thought about it.  My internet security was updated and added a new feature and would open my Photoshop Elements differently than usual and it would be saved no matter what.  I disabled the feature in the security program, but had to make a click right on the icon of my items and it say to never open the program within the secure framework (Sandbox Avast).  After that I did he save me and was fine.

  • Cannot save PDF in Microsoft Edge

Since the installation of Windows 10 I'm not able to save PDF files from my browser, Microsoft Edge.  Save the button is grayed out.

    Hey cabsagent,

Once you open the PDF in the edge browser, you need and do a right click on it then choose register under in the context menu to save the file.

There is no such 'Save' icon as edge browser uses its own Viewer to open PDF files.

    Hope that helps.

    Let me know.

BEFORE does not work like that. It records how to work with your clip in the final rendering. He never physical file copies while you are editing. In fact the original clip is never changed by one of the edition and the menu activities you do in your project.

So if split you your video into 10 clips on the timeline and apply different effects and transitions for each clip, you still as the unique original clip of ten minutes on your drive.

If for other reasons, you want to divide your sequence of ten discrete minutes in 10 files of one minute then:

    • Add the item to your project, and place it on the timeline.
    • Split the clip with the split in ten segments tool
    • Set the bar of workspace on the first segment of a minute
    • Share this segment in a new file in your preferred format (if it's for a later time, I suggest DV - AVI) make sure that you check the box only w.
    • Repeat for each segment, by assigning to each segment of the workspace toolbar.
    • When complete and you have verified each segment you can delete the original ten-minute clip.

I expect however ten individual clips to require more physical disk space than the original clip unique of ten minutes.

    See you soon,.
