Cant' import images of Photos because "it is not enough free space on the volume of your library to import the selected items.

Hey guys,.

So I tried to import some ~ 8 GB of photos on my mac, but the Photos app gives me the following message: "there isn't enough free space on the volume of your library to import the selected items. It is estimated that you need at least X.XX GB of additional free space. »

Where X.XX represents the amount of GB it says that I need but it changes everytime that I reopen the application to attempt an import.

My mac has currently 44.4 GB so I don't know why this issue is coming.

Any help would be great!

Thanks in advance,

Andres

Where is your library?  If it's on an external HD and how the drive is formatted?

Have you tried to repair the library according to this document from Apple: library of your repair?

What version of PHotos do you use?

Not based on what? You have not provided any information as to the amount of space you have left and what is the total capacity of your iPad. He must leave a certain percentage of the free capacity at all times, so if you have a 32GB device and you are up to 2 GB of free storage, which could in fact be severed close... If it says you need to 194.8 MG of free space that would be in addition to the amount that you see as free space.

It also depends on what you're trying to sync on iTunes as well. What content, apps, songs, etc.

So... can provide you more details?

  • Cannot restore backup because there is not enough free space

Try to restore from the latest backup and get an error message that there is not enough free space. How can be greater than the capacity of the backup phone? What the user should do?

How free do to space you have left on the phone?

Have you tried to transfer the contents of the camera to your Mac and remove the pictures after that in the phone, to get more free space?

Because the backup will replace the contents of the camera as well, this should be no problem.

If you want to restore, and then try again.

  • System will not defragment because there is not enough free space. I did a disk clean up and cannot dump tons of recently deleted files.

Believe me, I tried to remove about preprinted text 10 times.  Maybe because I was working from an IPad it wouldn't let me.  I knew it would annoy people, SORRY.  I knew I was going to be loading a lot of info. on an old computer that is running window XP w / SP 3, so I started deleting old files and uninstalling old programs.  I guess I deleted a lot of things and now I can't defragment my hard drive.  There is a lot of memory, but because I can't defragment all of the things that I deleted, I only have 6% free space.  I downloaded a defragmentation. program and who has not really helped.  I ran a disk cleanup as well.  I don't get the other error messages that there is insufficient disk space.  I need to know how to get all the stuff to delete/uninstall on my hard drive, so I can have more free space.

  • Microsoft cannot open or save documents more because there is not enough disk space or memory

Using the Chrome browser in Windows 10 attachments to emails sent to my Gmail account are not available. The error message is the same mentioned in the first request:

"Microsoft Excel cannot open or save all the documents more because there is not enough disk space or memory.

The solution is simple - it's just a stupid error message that has nothing to do with the real problem, and the problem is actually a feature of microsoft, is also often:
-office now has a kind of function 'protected mode', which prevents the office applications to do things under certain conditions.
-One of them is to stop excel from opening attachments from outlook :-(

Go to options Excel, the Privacy Center, settings and uncheck all options on "protected from view.

Save and voila, suddenly excel can open all the files and has absolutely no problem with your GB of free memory.

Thanks to the brilliant mind who has designed such an awkward feature with the awkward error messages and options ultra deep to clear - and of course no simple help.

  • El Capitan Upgrade - not enough of space for the upgrade to Photos

HI guys.  I just upgraded my MB of 2013 at El Capitan Air, and I'm having an issue update to iPhoto to Photos.  We have the iPhoto on an external hard drive library.  When I try to update library it tells me that there is not enough space.  Of course, the obvious answer, and one that I've read here, is to get a bigger external drive.  But before I spend the $$ to do this, I want to make sure that you understand how the upgrade.  The hard drive on my Mac itself is fairly complete, so if he tries to use somehow * that * as space time to do the upgrade, it won't work even with the biggest external drive.  However, if she only cares about the space on the disk where the iPhoto library sits, a new external drive is the fix.

Anyone know how it works?  Someone got experience with success the upgrade for the Photos on an external drive when you are main internal drive is full?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello

I used to have a 32 GB iPhone that I saved. Today, I have a newer iPhone is 16 GB. I'm trying to restore the last backup from the old to the new. I opened the backup from the Finder file and its size is 20 GB. How to remove the photos and videos that upward in order to reduce the size and get this backup on the new iPhone? Is there a way to tell iTunes restore backup without photos and videos?

You can not change the way that iTunes restores the backup of a unit. Since you now have a smaller device, you will not be able to restore the new feature of the older device. Your only choice would be to configure the device as new and then synchronize your content individually on the device, such as mail, contacts, calendar, etc...

  • Photo Gallery can't open the photo because you are not allowed access to the location of the file

Photo Gallery can't open the photo because you are not allowed access to the location of the file some of the image are open

Click on the folder and change your permissions for it and all subfolders and files all rights and if necessary take hand the case (and maybe the parent folder or even its parent - and all of the subfolders and files) until you have the permission you need.  Here are the general procedures to help you:

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.  To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.  To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

  • Not enough disk space to convert the iPhoto photo library

My wife iPhoto library has about 9 500 photos. She has a MacBook Air, which has limited hard disk space, so we put his iPhoto library on a SD card (which is still in its SD slot). We decided to convert the iPhone photo library. When the process is started, it happens about 4% on the progress bar when a popup said that there is not enough disk space to perform the task (said to 72GO). How can I complete this process? She wants to ensure its iPhone and iPad Air can all share all the photos via iCloud. Can I put the library of Photos on the SD card too? Once the synchronization of library of Photos with iCloud, not all large digital images disappear from MacBook Air and only a miniature remain (like on the iPhone and the iPad)?

I decided to try the procedure on my original post on my MacBook Pro.

I copied the Library.photoslibrary Photos of my MBP to an external hard drive connected to my MBP.

I did an "Option" + then click on 'Photos' selected the "Library.photoslibrary Photos" on my external hard drive. This produces the following pop-up message:

"This library contains items to download from iCloud photo library".

"To download the complete library, delete the incomplete elements, then set this library as the library of the system preferences and activate iCloud photo library. This will disable iCloud photo library on other libraries. »

"Delete the incomplete items" or "quit".

I clicked on "Quit" and posted above.

    Generally no.

How many memory currently have installed? How did you buy?
Did you buy exactly the same type, brand, model, etc. ?

Why do you want more memory? Depending on how much you have now, and
What applications you are running, it may or may not do anything for you. More memory
is this not better for everyone. This is my standard message on this
    Object:

The amount of RAM you need to good performance is * not * a
unique situation for all. You get good performance if the amount of
RAM you have prevents you from using the file page in a meaningful way, and
It depends on what applications you are running. Most of the people a typical range running
Enterprise XP applications find that somewhere around 512 MB
works well, others need more. Almost everyone will see poor performance
with less than 256 MB. Some people, especially those who do things
as modification of large photographic images, can see an improvement in performance by
adding even more 512 MB - sometimes much more.

If you currently use the page file significantly, more memory
will reduce or eliminate the use and improve your performance.
If you do not use the pagefile significantly, it will make more memory
    nothing for you. Reach
WinXP - 2K_Pagefile.zip and monitor your use of the page file. Who should
give you a good idea of more memory can help and if so, how
    lots more.

    > I went to Disk Defragmenter, and he always says that I have 35% of free space.  The new memory will change this amount?  Or is it important?

You have 35% of your hard drive free. It's disk space, also called
storage. It is not memory, what is RAM. Adding memory will not make
any changes to the available disk space.

    Hi again,

You can still install, make sure just that take care you of your images, and your personal files and then go for the installation of Windows 10, 64-bit.

All you need to do to re-setup is to download the Adobe Creative cloud application and then you can install LR and PS since the Application itself.

No need to pay again, it will recognize your id and password and allow you to download the applications that you are already a member of the subscription.
