Catostrophic

Anyone know what means this error and how to fix it? It happens when I try to back up my files. failure of catostrophic (OX8000FFFF) thanks for any help because it does not look good.

Hi Brown-barbaracurley,.

Follow these methods.

Method 1: Follow these steps:

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode with network and check if the problem persists.

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

Step 2: If the problem does not persist in SafeMode with network, perform a clean boot to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting steps, follow step 7 in the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

Method 2: Create a new user account.

If the problem is resolved in a new user account, and then follow the article on how to fix a corrupted user account.

  • Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 (64-bit) will not download completely stuck at 95%

I tried to install Service Pack 1 of Windows today on my laptop.  On one of my laptops with Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit operating system Windows Update downloaded (with 4 other updates) in about an hour and installed successfully during the shut down and restart.

However on my laptop main used with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Service Pack 1 stops downloading (although he says he always download or seems to be) to 95%.  The first time that I tried to download with 3 other updates to Windows, and it stuck.  I finally stopped after about 7 hours with it stuck at 95%.  Isolated, the other downloads and downloaded and installed after the reboot and did it in less than 15 minutes.  Then began to try to download only the Service Pack 1.  It has now been underway for six hours and is still stuck on download of 95%.

Another forum on the web had a message that the Service Pack 1 with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit will not download if you have installed language packs.  (Those who took me about 3-4 days to install and download due to make them one at a time because as a group they would get hung up.)  So I hope that I did not remove the language packs to get this Service Pack 1 installed on this machine.  I hope that Microsoft would have tested on a computer in Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with language packs installed but maybe not...

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I GAVE TO MY VISTA NOW, I HAVE JUST AS MUCH TROUBLE I DID BEFORE.  ABSOLUTELY, NO DOWNLOAD FROM ANYWHERE.  I WOULD BE HAPPY TO RETURN TO XP.  DEE

I feel for you Dolores it was extremely painful and tedious experience.  The final fix for my computer was going back to the origin by default with Windows Vista Home Premium on my computer.  Then load the software Windows 7 Ultimate.  Then the installation of updates about 100 + Windows which took place including Windows 7 SP 1.  All this has been done before loading another software (except Firefox and Chrome) on my computer.  I did it too before my security software loading, which – incidentally, roughly double the speed of downloads and other features of the computer.  Then after all the updates for Windows 7 has been done, I loaded with Microsoft Office Applications and its many updates.  After that I loaded my security software and checked for viruses.  Then rebuilt all the other features, software customization, etc. of this computer.  Literally, it took over a month to return to the same functionality that it had before the Windows 7 SP1 crashed the computer.  All I can say is thank God that I am religious about backing up files and folders, so I think I got about 95% of my files, folders, etc.

Since the reconstruction, I didn't "major" problems with Windows 7, but I cringe when I update Windows 7 via their process of updating every Tuesday.  I also try to update not updates at the same time or too large sizes in the updates, even if it takes more time to do it this way.  I also reboot after each update whether necessary or not.  I run two registry cleaners different at least once a week, or even more often as since the failure of catostrophic SP 1 of the operating system.

I will say this though, a lot of programs/software, I had that wouldn't work with Vista, all of a sudden work again with Windows 7.

    Good luck!

  • XP Service Pack 3 disc does not load

Had a catostrophic failure I did a recovery disc integrated charge, Compaq Presario w/XP Home SP2 - Version.

Then did a download of ms to SP3, the computer not would make since restarting windows normally screen. So I made once again, the recovery of the SP3 of Windows xp CD disc, then ordered now the computer not boot the disk automatically or if he starts using the application of programs add (not found disk), CD player works because I loaded my printer. I also downloaded the MBAM program (recommended here on this site) and then did a scan, no problems found.

I also removed programs expired trials & unwanted excess that comes with the recovery disc just to make sure that I had enough space on the hard drive, after having the disk and defrag disk cleanup it shows 87,22 GB of free space available.

Is there any command I can type in to help find their own program windows?

Or am I missing another program that is necessary?

HELP ME I'm lost, I used to just take a professional, but poverty has put, so I try it myself, your help is greatly needed and appreciated.

    Hi G.C.B,

    See the method mentioned below:

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable the antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network at the time the anti-virus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Note: You should not turn off Windows Firewall unless you have another firewall is enabled. Turning off Windows Firewall may make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage caused by worms or hackers.
