  You can limit the number of characters entered in a text entry area.  The maximum number of characters that will now be accepted by a BER 9 Captivate is 150 characters.  But you can set the number being less than that.

  You can certainly include an area for text input in a quiz, but it's usually only when you set the Validation option on WE so that the text of the learner is assessed to see if it matched to a correct answer.  In your case it is not necessary for a correct answer if you want just your comments.  If you do not set a Validation we then report to the Quiz option is gray.

  Developers wishing to receive feedback courses accepted by the LMS often use the value short answer question survey instead of rated.  It seems that some LMS then saves the text entered.

  If it's somewhat a catch-22.  I still believe that your best option is to simply tell users NOT to go more than a few sentences of comments.

  I came across a comment on another Web site to the effect that the method overall prompt() will crash PhotoShop if the user types more than 255 characters in the text field. From my brief experience today, I would say that the same limit applies as well to InCopy and InDesign. If anyone else has experienced this?

• Accounts-character limit

  Can someone advise what is the character limit for accounts?

  I noticed that the documentation mentions this is 30, but when you check the area under views it shows 80 and we can add an account liked 30.

  If the field has been changed to 80 are here all other conflicts he might encounter if I go beyond the limit of 30? or they simply updated the doco.

  Hi Nick,

  Yes, the account name may be longer than 30 characters in 11.1.1.6. The 30 character limit was the limit old 10g but has been extended to 80 characters.

  This limit is set in the database tables and can go to 80 characters in 11.1.1.6.0.

  SQL > describe documentaccounts;

  Type VARCHAR2 (80)

  80 characters by default and is related to the limit of the OS because the account name is used as part of the file name.

  Documentation has not updated this information to newer versions.

  Hello. I have a document that has a text form field. I want to run a custom calculation script which basically says if field 'Number group' = xxxxxxx, so the 'Group name' field should = ABC company.

  I have a list of almost 575 group numbers and names that I need to put in the script. And I have the script works fine, but I'm guessing that there is a limit of characters for the field script? It doesn't let me put my complete list in there.

  Any suggestions on how to work around this problem?

  Yes, there is a character limit for internal JS Editor. The round it is to use an external, such as Notepad.

  Do go to Edit - Preferences - JavaScript and select "Use the external JavaScript editor" and then select the application you want to use.

  Don't forget, however, that you must close the external file each time that change you it if you want to update in the PDF file.

• How is the character limit 256 on the applied file names?

  I understand that a file name can be up to 256 characters.

  It seems that the 256 characters includes the total number of characters that make up the complete chain of the folder associated with the file names.  Is that why when I get to the folder (for example) fifteenth in the folder tree that I have run out of characters, even if the name of the file, I'm trying to create has only about 20 characters in there?

  If this is the case, is it possible to adjust the number of allowed characters?

  If this is not the case why is my system not allowing me to use more than (for example) 20 characters when I am in a long series of files?

  256 character limit applies as well the full path. So, if you have a long series of records, it does not accept the name of the file.  You will need to either move the files to shorten the path, or rename the folders to shorten the chain for the path name.

  You can easily create your own email template.

  You must have HTML enabled composition.
  Different methods of location of the 'account settings ':

  • Via the toolbar "Menu Bar":
  • "Tools" > "Account settings" > "Composition & addressing" for the e-mail account

  • Right-click on the name of the e-mail account in the folders pane, and then select "settings".

  It's my first post because I can usually find supported using google, but I can't see any advice on this.

  Lets say I create a folder and name it 'sites' in Thunderbird, I created a rule for every email I get from stores online on their promotions go in this folder, so they do not distract the important emails, but I can view them later if I want.

  When I then log in my account outlook through their web client or if I check on my phone (which is where I'm mainly going through emails), the folders that I created in Tbird, do not show on my phone or the email provider webclient.

  I tried logging in and out of my web client and Tbird but records do not update, they remain in the Tbird but do not show in the web client or on my phone, which means that I can not read the messages held except when I home on Tbird.

  Is it possible to use the wildcard character in file name when creating adapter file for SyncRead operation.
  
  I used write*.txt as the name of the file to read. But got error below->
  
  
  file:/C:/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1/BPEL/domains/default/tmp/.bpel_notification2_1.0_93d419d1ca67f87872914bf6daf16180.tmp/readfile3.WSDL [SynchRead_ptt::SynchRead (Empty, are)] - SISM JCA Execute of 'SynchRead' failed due to the operation: no file to process.
  D:\temp\temp1\write*.txt file to process is not found or is not available
  ; nested exception is:
  ORABPEL-11007
  No file to process.
  D:\temp\temp1\write*.txt file to process is not found or is not available
  Check the error stack and correct the cause of the error. Contact oracle support if the error is not repairable.

  You cannot set the wildcard for file names. But you can provide the name of the file dynamically if you're on soa suite 10.1.3.4 minimum. You can get the information about it in this link http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12524_01/relnotes.1013/e12523/adapters.htm#CHDBBFBD
