Cloning time-consuming RMAN backup & hot

Dear administrators,

We do both RMAN & Hot backup cloning enemy that takes more time to restore the TEST instance data files. SCP taking too long to copy the server target due to its volume of data (1.5 to) and mounting of the drive of RMAN backups on test server and restore this drive taking more than 8 hours.

I heard that some companies are using a device to change the copy backup hot high volume of source dest faster for clone instance easily with in a few minutes. What is the name of device to take copies of source hot backup and restore to the server target.

Test server specifications
Processor cores 8 with 32 GB of memory.

Thank you
S/N

We have about 2.5 TB of data. It takes about 10 hours to synchronize the data.
But everything depends on the EMC technology.
in my previous company, synchronization takes about 1 hour to 900G of data.

  • EBS cloning using hot RMAN backup

    Hi hussein/helios,

    EBS R12.0.6
    Oracle 10g DB

    I was cloning EBS using cold backup, which means that I stop the database and copy it.
    Today, as I face a problem of cloning because I am not allowed to stop the database. This is my first time at this meeting.
    I want to clone a PROD EBS customer, but he's working on a service 24 x 7, which means that I can not close easily.
    I have a RMAN backup, full of Sundays and archive newspapers every day.
    Can you give me the metalink notes where I can clone using a hot RMAN backup?

    Thank you very much

    MsK

    Salvation;

    Now I'm here;

    Let me share my experience with you

    1. copy your ORACLE_HOME from source to the target
    2 give her permission
    3. restore your Db on your target with RMAN
    4. use the ORACLE_HOME which are copied from the source to target
    5. you must activate the automatic configuration on the new database, follow below

  • RMAN Duplicate Hot

    Is it possible to duplicate a database that is running hot when backup is performed, and which remains open and in use in all of the duplicate command?

    I'm trying to clone a production database (so no failures!) on a second server. My script connects to the target database more archivelog and copy the backup resuling to clone the server. Which extends over about an hour. Then I run a second rman script that simply says:
    connect auxiliary sys/v0yager1@clonedb
    run{
    set until time 'sysdate-10/24/60';
    duplicate target database to clonedb nofilenamecheck;
    }
    But this produces errors "no copy backup of file 1 is was found", probably because I'm pleading for a time, which is regarded as before "restorable time" performed just backup. But I thought that ten minutes before this command is issued is about 50 minutes from the start of the backup, so I have files that could be restored and then found ourselves very well. Thinking about it again, however, I see that the last saved files will probably leave an hour after than timestamp, and those who can not be rolled back, then Yes, I would have expected failure. The problem is when I missed the 'set until time' clause completely, the thing also fails. Plain "sysdate", maybe.

    I cloned these databases with RMAN several times before, but they were scheduled interruptions when I could get the source database in Mount - and I was cloning so a "stationary object. I have not tried the fact with a database running, and I don't know if it really is possible. Any help would be appreciated.

    For the record, this is 10.2.0.4, 64-bit Windows 2003. And we do not systematically use RMAN for backup/recovery (political!), so when I do an RMAN backup for the purposes of cloning, this is the only backup that exists at this time. I can't, in other words, use commands that would work if there were one or more backups before my procedure of cloning did take place.

    The following query gives the requested RCS:

    select max(first_change#) from v$backup_redolog;

  • RMAN backup is too slow

    Hello

    I have the oracle database (11 GR 1 material) 64 bit installed on 64-bit Windows 2003 R2 server. MY DB size is almost 152 GB and its operation in log mode archive. When I run the RMAN backup, its takes too long, it took 22 hours and still functioning, I'm not sure why it is that consumes a lot of time...

    I use RMAN script below...

    Run {}

    allocate channels ch1 disc type;

    backup FILESPERSET 32

    format tag 'F:\RMAN_BACKUP\%d_t%t_s%s_FULL' Full_DATABASE_07_july_13

    COURSE CONTROLFILE, SPFILE;

    SQL 'alter system archive log current;

    backup FILESPERSET 200

    format 'F:\RMAN_BACKUP\ARC_%d_%s_%t '.

    (archivelog all);

    output channel ch1.

    }

    Kindly help me and what's wrong in this please tell me. Also tell me if any other necessary information...

    Thank you and best regards,

    John of Vikash

    It also depends on your storage system. What is your speed on the RMAN disk?

    If you have enough flow, then you must complete this debit allocate more channels.

    If your drive canprovide you 1 Gbit/s, then it will take 152 seconds to get the backup.

    What is your rate?

  • Checkpoint during RMAN backup

    Hello

    I have the following question:

    Lets say I started RMAN backup to SNA 1000 dam (that is to say, the two control file and data file header are now running the SNA 1000).

    RMAN will use the snapshot controlfile (YVERT 1000) as RMAN needs to back up the database consistent YVERT. Now when the backup is happening, and still a lot of data file are not still be saved followed command file backup and archiving log backup, lets say another control point has produced and finished YVERT 1001. A, this oracle point will update all the headers of file data and with the new SNA 1001 controlfile.

    Issues related to the:

    1] if RMAN backs up the remaining data files, it will not conflict with SNA controlfile to 1000 and a few of the YVERT 1001 data files header? IE CF SNA < DF SNA.

    How RMAN handles this situation?

    Hi Shash
    During a hot backup as 'backup database more archivelog' rman makes at least a snapshot 4 times.
    -Before the first backup archivelog running
    -Between the end of the first achivelog run and the beginning of the backup of data file
    -Between the end of the backup of data file and the second archivelog run.
    -At the end of the second archivelog run

    will be the RMAN backup files of next 10 given the new SNA 1001?

    Yes

    Will be the RMAN backup the controlfile with SNA 1001

    Yes it will be instant it and save it so at the end of the backup of data file
    According to your controlfile autobackup setting it will be included in the backup containg datafile nr 1 (System tablespace) or an automatic backup of sepparate element.

    RMAN invite you to provide us with the archive logs to bring these first 10 data files to SNA 1001. My understanding is correct?

    Yes correct.
    Kind regards

  • The user managed backup hot

    Hello

    When we started a tablespace begin backup mode State, I know that the RCS data files will be blocked and the recovery log generation will be more. And to note now that even if the END BACKUP command has been issued, the data files remain in exactly the same state that they were ahead. File 6 is always out of sync with all other files. No additional control points have been issued, and nothing further happened to produce 6 or anything else to do things to re - sync.

    Put a tablespace IN backup mode hot indeed causes a control point will take place for this table space. But out of hot backup mode does NOT work. The SNA in the headers of this tablespace will be re - synchronize the next time there is a checkpoint of the whole system, but not until then.

    So no, it's NOT ' updated when we take tablespace in backup mode using online redo log files "-Although the syntax of this sentence is so weird as to defy rational explanation and require pure conjecture.

    As for questions of the original poster, so:

    I just want to know where the DML activities occur when the tablespace mode backup how to get updated records? why there are no changes in the SNA? why there is excess redo generation compared with the normal DML region?

    1 DML activities occur quite normally. Put a tablespace in backup mode hot stops CKPT update its header, but does absolutely nothing to prevent your server to update another process the contents of the file. If you update every row to a million lines of table during a hot backup of the repository containing this table, each row is updated, exactly as he would have done if no hot backup took place. It is not property of a backup hot, after all, if the content data file was unflappable frozen for the duration, would it?

    2 there IS a change in the SCN when you put a tablespace in mode backup hot. See above. When you exit the hot backup mode, there is no special update for the RCS... but the next time that all the headers of data file are updated through a checkpoint at the system level (caused by things like a log switch or the ADMINISTRATOR requesting a) , then the header will be updated with the SNA as all the other data file headers.

    Get some more: this is the checkpoint change the number that is stored in the headers of data files, and it is that which does not change during a backup hot. Number of system change, including change of control point number is simply a snapshot at a point in time, increases continuously throughout the system, all the time.

    3. in a user managed backup, it's the operating system that copies things and it copies the things that the operating system is aware of--such as the "operating system block', which is commonly size of 512 bytes. An Oracle block consists of several operating system blocks (16 in the case of a block of 8 K and blocks of 512 bytes OS). Oracle knows 16 blocks BONE to form a block Oracle; the operating system itself has no idea of their interdependence.

    Therefore, the silent operating system will copy one of these 16 blocks at any time as seems it, because he realizes that if it copies one, she really should to copy other 15 institutions. If it were a cold maintained by users of backup, which is not serious, because nothing would be happening to all the 16 blocks of BONE, and as long as it took the BONES to copy all of them, the result would be the same, as if all 16 had been copied at the same time.

    But it's a hot backup, it happens at these blocks. Therefore, it is possible for the operating system to copy, say, three of them, just at the moment where Oracle is about to change one of its blocks with an update or insertion. Three blocks of BONE thus copied in one State and the other thirteen OS blocks copied in another State. You now have a block of 8K in a backup that is internally in all directions and totally unusable. It's called a cracked block, and that's what happens when a single entity (BONE) copy unconscious things the importance invested in this is it the copy by another (the Oracle database).

    The cure for a broken block is to have a clean block copy as it was before the updates that happened to her. This clean copy of the block, you can apply all redo them later generated who touched it. So it is what guarantees Oracle exist. If a tablespace is in hot backup mode, the first update that is subject to change an Oracle block causes this whole block to write in it again connects. There's your own copy. The copy that creates the backup operation is the copied data file can now be fractured or not as chance allows: he'll always be a good version of it stored in the recovery logs.

    However, an update that generated usually 200 bytes redo just caused all of a block of 8K to copy in the redo logs. And this increase in the generation of redo is a feature of backups maintained by users (and why you should use RMAN).

  • Waiting for redo log file missing when restore main database using RMAN backup that was taken on the database physical standby

    Here's my question after tons of research and test without have the right solutions.

    Target:

    (1) I have a 12.1.0.2 database unique main enterprise 'testdb' as database instance running on the server "node1".

    (2) I created physical standby database "stbydb" on the server "node2".

    (3) DataGuard running on the mode of MaxAvailability (SYNC) with roll forward in real time 12 default c apply.

    (4) primary database has 3 groups of one-man redo. (/oraredo/testdb/redo01.log redo02.log redo03.log)

    (5) I've created 4 standby redo logfiles (/oraredo/testdb/stby01.log stby02.log stby03.log stby04.log)

    (6) I do RMAN backup (database and archivelog) on the site of relief only.

    (7) I want to use this backup for full restore of the database on the primary database.

    He is a DR test to simulate the scenario that has lost every primary & Eve total servers.

    Here is how to save, on the database pending:

    (1) performance 'alter database recover managed standby database Cancel' to ensure that compatible data files

    (2) RMAN > backup database;

    (3) RMAN > backup archivelog all;

    I got elements of backup and copied to primary db Server something like:

    /Home/Oracle/backupset/o1_mf_nnndf_TAG20151002T133329_c0xq099p_.BKP (data files)

    /Home/Oracle/backupset/o1_mf_ncsnf_TAG20151002T133329_c0xq0sgz_.BKP (spfile & controlfile)

    /Home/Oracle/backupset/o1_mf_annnn_TAG20151002T133357_c0xq15xf_.BKP (archivelogs)

    So here's how to restore, on the main site:

    I clean all the files (data files, controlfiles oder all gone).

    (1) restore spfile from pfile

    RMAN > startup nomount

    RMAN > restore spfile from pfile ' / home/oracle/pfile.txt' to ' / home/oracle/backupset/o1_mf_ncsnf_TAG20151002T133329_c0xq0sgz_.bkp';

    (2) modify pfile to convert to db primary content. pFile shows below

    *.audit_file_dest='/opt/Oracle/DB/admin/testdb/adump '

    * .audit_trail = "db".

    * full = '12.1.0.2.0'

    *.control_files='/oradata/testdb/control01.ctl','/orafra/testdb/control02.ctl'

    * .db_block_size = 8192

    * .db_domain = "

    *.db_file_name_convert='/testdb/','/testdb /'

    * .db_name = "testdb".

    * .db_recovery_file_dest ='/ orafra'

    * .db_recovery_file_dest_size = 10737418240

    * .db_unique_name = "testdb".

    *.diagnostic_dest='/opt/Oracle/DB '

    * .fal_server = "stbydb".

    * .log_archive_config = 'dg_config = (testdb, stbydb)'

    * .log_archive_dest_2 = "service = stbydb SYNC valid_for = (ONLINE_LOGFILE, PRIMARY_ROLE) db_unique_name = stbydb'"

    * .log_archive_dest_state_2 = 'ENABLE '.

    *.log_file_name_convert='/testdb/','/testdb /'

    * .memory_target = 1800 m

    * .open_cursors = 300

    * runoff = 300

    * .remote_login_passwordfile = "EXCLUSIVE."

    * .standby_file_management = "AUTO".

    * .undo_tablespace = "UNDOTBS1.

    (3) restart db with updated file pfile

    SQLPLUS > create spfile from pfile='/home/oracle/pfile.txt'

    SQLPLUS > the judgment

    SQLPLUS > startup nomount

    (4) restore controlfile

    RMAN > restore primary controlfile to ' / home/oracle/backupset/o1_mf_ncsnf_TAG20151002T133329_c0xq0sgz_.bkp';

    RMAN > change the editing of the database

    (5) all elements of backup catalog

    RMAN > catalog starts by ' / home/oracle/backupset / '.

    (6) restore and recover the database

    RMAN > restore database;

    RMAN > recover database until the SNA XXXXXX; (this YVERT is the maximum in archivelog backups that extends beyond the scn of the backup of the data file)

    (7) open resetlogs

    RMAN > alter database open resetlogs;

    Everything seems perfect, except one of the file log roll forward pending is not generated

    SQL > select * from v$ standby_log;

    ERROR:

    ORA-00308: cannot open archived log ' / oraredo/testdb/stby01.log'

    ORA-27037: unable to get file status

    Linux-x86_64 error: 2: no such file or directory

    Additional information: 3

    no selected line

    I intended to use the same backup to restore primary basic & helps record traffic and the downtime between them in the world of real output.

    So I have exactly the same steps (except STANDBY restore CONTROLFILE and not recover after database restore) to restore the database pending.

    And I got the same missing log file.

    The problem is:

    (1) complete alert.log filled with this error, not the concern here

    (2) now repeat it in real time apply won't work since the Party shall LGWR shows always "WAITING_FOR_LOG."

    (3) I can't delete and re-create this log file

    Then I tried several and found:

    The missing standby logfile was still 'ACTIVE' at present RMAN backup was made.

    For example, on db standby, under Group #4 (stby01.log) would be lost after the restoration.

    SQL > select GROUP #, SEQUENCE #, USE (s), the STATUS from v$ standby_log;

    GROUP # SEQUENCE # USED STATUS

    ---------- ---------- ---------- ----------

    4 19 ACTIVE 133632

    5 0 0 UNASSIGNED

    6 0 0 not ASSIGNED

    7 0 0 UNASSIGNED

    So until I take the backup, I tried on the primary database:

    SQL > alter system set log_archive_dest_state_2 = delay;

    This was the Group of standby_log side Eve #4 was released:

    SQL > select GROUP #, SEQUENCE #, USE (s), the STATUS from v$ standby_log;

    GROUP # SEQUENCE # USED STATUS

    ---------- ---------- ---------- ----------

    4 0 0 UNASSIGNED

    5 0 0 UNASSIGNED

    6 0 0 not ASSIGNED

    7 0 0 UNASSIGNED

    Then, the backup has been restored correctly without missing standby logfile.

    However, to change this primary database means break DataGuard protection when you perform the backup. It's not accept on the production environment.

    Finally, my real questions come:

    (1) what I do may not do on parameter change?

    (2) I know I can re-create the control file to redo before delete and then recreate after. Is there any simple/fast to avoid the standby logfile lost or recreate the lost one?

    I understand that there are a number of ways to circumvent this. Something to keep a copy of the log file waiting restoration progress and copy up one missing, etc, etc...

    And yes I always have done no real-time applies "to the aid of archived logfile" but is also not accept mode of protection of production.

    I just want proof that the design (which is displayed in a few oracle doc Doc ID 602299.1 is one of those) that backs up data backup works effectively and can be used to restore the two site. And it may be without spending more time to resume backups or put the load on the primary database to create the database before.

    Your idea is very much appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    1--> when I take via RMAN backup, RMAN does not redo log (ORL or SRL) file, so we cannot expect ORLs or SRL would be restored.

    2nd--> when we opened the ORL database should be deleted and created

    3rd--> Expecting, SRL should not be an issue.we should be able to do away with the fall.

    If you do, you can recreate the controlfile without waiting for redo log entry...

    If you still think it's something is not acceptable, you must have SR with support to analyze why he does not abandon SRL when controlfile_type is "underway".

  • EBS 11i RMAN backup

    Hi all

    EBS 11i

    OEL 5

    I have rman backup of our database of EBS.

    I also have a single backup at oracle.

    Assuming that no patches have been applied, is the one-time backup of oracle home + backup rman, good enough to restore the database to a server disaster recovery?

    Can I still place adpreclone every day, for the rman backup to synchronize?

    Adpreclone is used to capture changes to the patches applied, or adding database files? or both?

    Please throw lights...

    Thank you very much

    JC

    It is not possible to have several databases with the ORACLE_SID even on the same host.

    The solution is that you have to put on separate hosts.
