  If you have used any other processor of professional quality (for example, Microsoft Word), and then just go ahead and use the current culture of free (financially) applications on devices you mention.   Only the versions shipped with the computer originally are free.  You can probably re-download delivered software using the Mac App Store application on your computer. If you want more recent versions, you will have to pay for them.

  There is no path upgrade between Final Cut Pro 7 and earlier versions and FCP - x. They are completely different applications that share only the name of Final Cut Pro.

  FCP - X is available for purchase through the Mac App store.

  Your computer must use an operating system to download FCP - X.
