Cold standby unit

We have a situation like this:

We have production editor CCM and inbox VM unit 403. In DR (disaster recovery center), we have a CCM Subscriber and cold standby unit. The definition of this unit is: OS/Inbox/exchange fully licensed unityinstalled with different name and the ip address of the production unit.

We want cold registry Unit ensures with CCM subscriber, once the lost production. My concern is the Subscriber being gone, CCM Publisher does not have write access, can this unit register with the Subscriber?

Thank you.

The figures are attributed to the vmport that you are configuring. VM ports also have a unique name. The unit connects to the MAC using the names. CCM has to wait for the unit to connect to the work unit. After unity "talks" to ccm, CCM will know the ip address of the server unit.

  • 2 replicated domain controllers or clone 1 DCs as cold standby

    Hi guys,.

I don't know if this is the right forum to ask this question or maybe someone can divert my question. Any involvement of a Windows 2008 Server cold waiting without any network connection for a period of time, tombstone question? and the reason that I asked for, it is I think to perform replication from domain controllers 2 where 1 fail and 2nd DC to support, or just to clone standby and connect the network whenever the 1 domain controller fail.

    Appreciate any comment.

  • ASA 5520's active / standby, do not sync AnyConnect Profles

I'm working on two ASA 5520 configuration in a configuration active / standby.  I have almost all the same between the two units for AnyConnect work waiting for both of the following:

    AnyConnect Client profiles

    AnyConnect Client software

If I download the software manually to the standby unit I get warning against them are not synchronized, and on the active unit if I do a 'writing' standby does not copy the profile or the software.  Anyone has any ideas on this?

    Thank you

    Hello

    Bug CSCsr31403

When you configure the ASA in a failover pair, you must manually copy the AnyConnect and CSD images for the primary and the secondary ASA.   You must also do the same for the Anyconnect profile file if you use it.

Either force the ASA shall become active and copy the files to the new ASA assets using ASDM or copy files directly from the console ASA ensures using tftp or ftp.

How to create a UAT using backup cold standby,

It would be a duplication of the database backup with RMAN. A catalogue will help, especially when you are working in a Data Guard environment, but it's a simple and well documented operation:

  • How to buy a correct license of MS SQL 2012 or 2014 Standard?

Hi, I'm working on an it project for the Government of Hong Kong. The project will use MS SQL in the database back-end with 100 concurrent users. Please find below issues:

1 do still buy us MS SQL Standard 2012 now, or need to buy MS SQL 2014?

    2. in the Site Production, we need to install 2 instances of database. For the execution of the high availability requirements, each database instance will be installed within 2 MS SQL cluster of physical servers (active-passive mode, for failover only) mode. In other words, total 4 physical servers (each server with 6-cores) were used.

    A license. review by Core

(2.1) in this case, we need to buy 2 sets of licenses Per Core for the active 2 physical servers only, right?

2.2) because each server is 6 hearts, we buy 3 licenses (pack of 2-cores) for each physical server Active.

including the total we need to buy 6 licenses for 2 active physical servers.

B . Whereas the license server + CAL

(2.1) in this case, we need to buy 2 licenses of server for 2 active physical servers only, right?

2.2) since there are 100 concurrent users, we need to purchase 100 user licenses for each user access to the 2 servers (or 2 instances of database).

    3. in the Disaster Recovery (DR) Site, we have 2 physical servers (each being installed with the different database instance) running on the cold standby mode. So, no need to purchase a server license or by Core, right?

4 should we buy Software Assurance (SA)? I guess not that it applies to MS SQL Enterprise Edition only, no?

Please advise on the above scenarios. Thank you very much.

  • Licenses of the ASA, a license or two for a failover pair

I had two units ASA firewall configured as a failover pair.  Now I need increases the SSL VPN license, do I need a licence for the ASA pair or two licenses, one for each unit.  Can use a key of activation on both units?

One thing I know for sure, put the key on the Active unit, cannot synchronize the license to the standby unit.

Thank you very much in advance.

It depends on the version. The ASA 8.3 and later versions, you can share a single license through an HA pair.

  • do hw-module 1 refill cause failover?

    1. make "reload hw-module 1 ' to reload cause failover IPS that make ASA02 become active if ASA01 is initially activated?

    2. is this command "reload hw-module 1 ' can only apply to the active unit?   in other words, if I type this command in secondary ASA02 unit that is active, this command can not recharge IPS02, I have to do the first failover ASA02 active prior to reload IPS02?

    Hello

Years1: Yes, 'hw-module 1 reload' would cause failover and would do as Active ASA02. This is because the recharge of the module on ASA02 would make the ASA unit as unhealthy.

Years2: command "hw-module 1 reload" is independent of the active / standby. It is a unit based control. It could be implemented on both standby unit.

If you are usually reload the module or the upgrade of the module, then it is always recommended to recharge the module on the standby unit for unit Active to stay healthy and continue to pass traffic. Once you reload the device to sleep, he would go to State failure first and then, when the module is fine, he returned to standby state.

Then replace Active standby unit, and then reload the newly formed rescue unit.

    Hope that answers your questions.

  • ASA-SSM-20 on the active failover configuration

You can synchronize configuration between two IPS systems data?

I have two ASA-SSM-20 (6.1.1 E3) one in each of my the SAA. Of the SAA is the shift in assets. During the configuration of the IPS module I always make these same changes also in the standby unit. Is it possible to synchronize to the top of these two survey periods, so when it is configured the other is updated?

    Thank you very much

Unlike the SAA, there not an automatic function to preserve the configuration synchronization through SSMs 2.

    A few options:

You can use the command copy to copy the configuration of a sensor to a ftp/scp server.

Then use the copy on the second sensor command to copy the configuration on the second sensor. During the copy, it will ask whether to change the IP of the probe to what is in the configuration file. You will need to tell it to NOT change IP of the probe, otherwise you end up with 2 SSMs with the same IP address and are struggling to connect to them.

Another option is to use the CSM. CSM has configuration that applies to simple sensors, but also the group configuration that can be applied across multiple sensors.

If you have used the group configuration, then you could make one change to the configuration of the Group and apply it in all the sensors in the Group (you will place your SSMs 2 in the same group).

  • Management interface

I have 2 ASA 5550's in a configuration of active / standby. The client wants to put some sort of 3rd party outside the ASA sitter. They should watch the two ASA at the same time. Can the management interface given a different address on each box.

    Example:

    ASA 1 192.168.1.1

    ASA 2 192.168.1.2

We are running out of 72 7.1 (2)

    Thank you

    David

The watch system is never used by the customers themselves. No matter what device is 'Active' it starts you answer the 'Active' IP address and the "Standby" unit takes the IP address of "Standby". However, you can telnet/snmp for each IP address. And that should meet your goal.

There are a few difficult flats, for example if the management Machine is accessible to the ASA via a dynamic routing protocol while the relief unit will not have these dynamic routes in its routing table. It will take special workaround solutions. Other than that, you can connect to the rescue unit when you want. However this is not recommended/supported to make changes on the rescue unit. Surveillance is hard OK.

  • Config VPN related with failover - ASAs synchronization

    Hi all

on the SAA, there are many many configurations that are not in the running-config any more, but in the flash file system xml files.

I'm looking for documentation, VPN-elements are replicated to the ASA standby-unit and which are not. I.e. bookmarks without client are replicated, but the anyconnect profiles are not.

And are there ways to keep the two units in harmony without having to manually copy everything in the two units?

    Best regards, Karsten

    Hi Karsten.

AnyConnect images. CSD ones and Anyconnect profiles are not replicated between the two devices, the rest is.

To make it even simpler, all data that is stored in a hidden file system is replicated while those that you see on the show that one "show flash" is not.

For now, thew only way to have it working is to manually go to each unit and install the files there but there is an enhancement request to have implemented automatic replication in place: images CSCsr31403 AnyConnect and CSD and customer profiles are not copied on standby.

    Kind regards

  • If you need to failover logon - how?

    People

I managed to deploy an environment fully distributable vCAC.  A couple of redundancy issues in the

vCAC battery.   When you install Service Manager, it is installed with a single server is active and the other in cold standby mode.

If I need failover to Server 2, what would be the process to make the cold standby server now active?

Also, can some explain the redundancy on DEM Orchestrator.

    Thanks in advance!

I think both are deployed with instance passive and active (you install Orchestrator on the same squares as service manager).

According to me, the only thing needed to pass is to stop the service windows on the 'Active' instance and then start the service to a 'Passive '.

The Orchestrator AFAK is not called over HTTP and so nothing would be necessary once you start the second instance. With service manager, I guess the LBS will automatically passing calls to the passive (now active) once the main service stopped responding, but kind of guessing here...

Of this sentence from the installation guide -vCloud Automation Center Documentation

    "

    What to do next

If you have not already done so, install an additional component Manager Service instance as a passive backup you can start manually if the primary instance fails. During the installation, select node Cold Standby Disaster Recovery. "

I guess that power failover happen automatically...

  • Installation of VmWare HA

    Hello

We're building a small scale data center.   Our facility will be 2 nodes cluster for now.  We have 2 servers dell poweredge 1950 III.  We plan get vmware ESX 3.5 with HA.   The two servers will be connected to a San (dell powervault MD3000i) via the iSCSI interface.  We will host 2 VMs - IIS and Server MS SQL 2008, both running on Windows Server 2008.

I have two specific questions to our facility:

    1. each server has 2 ports of gigabit ethernet integrated (the one that will be used for vCenter and the other for the clients to connect to the web server).  Additional 2 gigabit ports with TOE and iSCSI to connect to the MD3000i SAN network with redundant links.  Do we need another port gigabit for pulse HA?

    2. from what I understand in the vmware white paper HA does not shift smoothly since it only restarts the virtual machine on the physical server mode standby when the main physical server is out of service.  Do we need to DRS + VMotion to shift smoothly?

3 cards Broadcom 5708 NIC works in virtual machine environment to take advantage of unloading TCP & iSCSI features unloading?  Windows 2008 supports the iSCSI initiator based on the material.

Cold standby, it probably an appropriate term.

  • restart of the computer from standby when I press start on the system unit, but not when a scheduled task is started

Windows XP Professional SP3, updates, motherboard Asus P4P800 series (2006). The original system dates back to 2002, but there have been many additions and replacement upgrade. More recently, 2011, two old hard drives have been replaced (XP had destroyed itself requiring a reinstallation), with a much larger and HD, and the cpu has been replaced by a 3 GHz one.

I've configured the BIOS to enable the use of standby mode (standby). I wanted to be able to run scheduled backup jobs early in the morning, a little before I wake up normally. The goal was to conserve energy. Whenever I leave the computer for more than an hour or two, I put it in sleep mode. In recent years, that it worked well.

Scheduled tasks are still, in fact, more surely than ever. But now, when I press the Start button on the system unit, the operating system is restarted rather than restore the State of the system at the time of Eve. This happened almost constantly for maybe a week. I was always a guard never enter sleep mode when I'm aware of any application running who has not completed a requested operation (save a file, defragment a disk, etc.).

I searched on the basis of knowledge, but not found any problems like that. There has been no hardware changes, no new devices; only change of important software (but it is difficult to see how it might be relevant) was the resettlement of Java Runtime Environment 6.x to support the help of OpenOffice. Although I have not checked, I am reasonably sure that all drivers are up-to-date.

No idea why this should suddenly become a problem or how to fix?

    Hello

I suggest you follow these methods and check.

Method 1: View the steps suggested in the following link.

How to solve the problems of hibernation and standby in Windows XP

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/907477

Method 2: Use the Powercfg.exe utility to restore the default power mode

You can use the Powercfg.exe utility to copy the power mode of the user by default to the currently logged user profile. You can do this because eating patterns are only related to individual user accounts. To copy the default user schema using the Powercfg.exe utility, follow these steps:

    1. click on Start, click run, type cmdand then click OK.

    2. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
    powercfg /RestoreDefaultPolicies

Method 3: How to perform the check and clean boot if the problem persists.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

NOTE: Once you check the functionality, follow the suggestions under steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state.

    I hope this helps!

  • Is it necessary to buy two packs of licenses to set up a cluster active / standby HA with two units of TZ300?

I need a cluster active / standby and I think I will need to buy two devices and only CGSS. Am I wrong?
Why there is no TZ300 HA Unit regarding the unity of TZ500 HA and TZ600 HA unit?

    Thank you

    Angelo

Yes, you are going to have to buy two devices and licenses only to your main unit. The only reason why there are TZ500 and 600 HA units because generally these are units that especially customer implement an HA pair because of the power they have.

A TZ300 and 400 are wanted over a smaller model of business that usually gives rise to not have an HA pair so their isn't a specific unit of HA.

These HA units are not different from any other unit, they are simply locked as part of a wise pair HA license.

I'm you provide a HP support document: use Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7), which, if you review and follow the instructions will guide you through restoring your computer back to a point in time where your computer would be standby mode successfully. This will not affect your personal files, but applications that have been installed or settings that have been changed during the time you are reversing must be redone.
