  On your computer Windows, please try to open the PDF document in other non Adobe PDF viewers to see if the image becomes gray.  You can even drag and drop your PDF from Google Chrome (browser) document to open it.

  If most PDF viewers that you have tried to show the grey area, you can conclude that the PDF document (generated by Microsoft Word 2013) itself is defective.  This means that Microsoft Word 2013 bug (s) to convert Word to PDF.

  I'm running Firefox on a MAC with OS X 10.6.8 or when you download the files now come as a generic file 'attachment.ashx' instead of having their original name and the extension. I can change the extension to the original and the file opens but it of a pain to have to rename and change the extension for each download.
