  I have Compaq Presario CQ57-425ER and you want to use Windows 8.1 GPT disk. I made a bootable USB key with Rufus (TPG-UEFI chosen option), but my laptop can not boot from the flash drive. There is a message - no boot device. Among the drivers for my laptop, I found an environment to help HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI).  Here is a description: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55477.html. I found 2 interesting points in this description: supports GPT disks and provides support for the installation of the UEFI System Partition. I tried to run this flash with windows on another laptop and it works fine. But in my laptop, I always get the message that there is no bootable media. Yes, there is a support of UEFI in CQ57? And if so, what should I do?

  This model of PC has limited support for Windows 8/8.1.  It does not support the GPT or UEFI 2.3.1 or later version.  It is the MBR only.

  I have a Compaq Presario CQ57-339WM

  Hard drive has failed and replaced. Installed Windows 7 64.

  I found all the drivers here, excpet for the integrated graphics chipset.

  I get the yellow question mark for "SM BUS CONTROLLER"

  I tried the Chipset and graphics drivers on HP, but none works.

  You don't need the Intel chipset driver to install the smbus controller.  You may need to install it manually.

  Download and unzip the file.

  Go to Device Manager and click the controller smbus needing drivers.

  Click the driver tab.  Click on set to update driver.

  Select her browse my computer for driver software option and navigate to the driver folder, that you unzipped.

  Make sure that the include subfolders is selected and see if the pilot goes like this.

  I wanted to join you and help! I understand that you have a problem with an APPLICATION (501) BIOS ERROR on your Compaq Presario CQ57 laptop PC.

  Remove all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, because they can cause some problems.

  Try starting your laptop normally after having disconnected all. If that does not solve the problem, please continue with troubleshooting.

  The next step would be for you to try to restore the BIOS. You will see that the document says:

  If the BIOS of your laptop becomes corrupted, and a failure to upgrade the BIOS or damage caused by a virus, the computer can display all the following symptoms:

  • The computer displays the error message from the BIOS APPLICATION ERROR 501.

  After restoring the BIOS see if you can start the computer normally.

  Compaq presario cq57-339WM does not recognize the drive as a boot drive recovery, I'm sorry people, I searched and I entered the job in New York as a matter of research. Operating system is 7 Home premium. Hard drive went bad, so I rplaced with new. I have had I have windows image backup, but the wizard could not find the hard drive. I ordered the HP poped the first of the two recovery disks, but the machine does not recognize the drive as a bootable disk recovery. I did factory retrieve records a large number of times on computers with different operating systems and have never seen this. TNA

  I have a laptop Compaq Presario CQ57-339wm requiring a logic board replacement. According to the sticker on the Palm, it has an Intel Celeron processor clocked to Interior.

  According to the CQ57, the motherboard service manual I ordered (reference number: 646177-001) is "for use only with the computer models equipped with an Intel Core i5 or i3 processor processor and a graphics subsystem with UMA video memory.

  Since I have a Celeron CPU and motherboard instead, would replace this motherboard for the work of the Board of Directors i5? I think that the mobo, I ordered does not include a processor i5, just the current Board. I could swap the chip Celeron of the old Council to the Board of Directors i5, or that wouldn't work either? I have to install a compatible rod that matches the part number of the old mobo? (646174 001).

  I think that you understood. The Celeron and Core Intel models use a different motherboard with a different chipset and processors cannot be exchanged.
