Conditional comment CSS Hack for IE6

Hi, I'm trying to circumvent an IE6 display problem and I tried to use a conditional comment in the head tag to load a specific stylesheet for IE6. Here is my code:

< link href = "css/normal.css" rel = "stylesheet" type = "text/css" / > "
<!-[if IE 6] >
"< link href="css/ie-6.0.css "rel ="stylesheet"type =" text/css"/ >
<! [endif]-->

For some reason any IE6 ignores this.

If I remove the '6' instruction conditional IE6 is applied to the style sheet, but does any other version of IE browsers that isn't what I want.

After searching on the net, put IE 6 should work, but for some reason, this isn't for me.

Any help would be appreciated.

LAGooner

Huh. I guess it must be the IE6 version I use. I downloaded IE Tester http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage (worth download incidentally) and the hack works great.

Thank you for taking the time to look at it for me.

  • Using conditional comments for IE7

    I'm working on my first attempt to apply a conditional comment. My page seems correct in the lab browser for all browsers except IE7, who needs a change of left padding on a particular div. My main css for this div looks like this:

    #div {}

    padding-top: 192px;

    padding-left: 138px;

    height: 38px;

    Width: 120px;

    position: relative;

    }

    I have the addition, after the beginning of the div tag in the HTML code:

    <!-[if IE 7] >

    < style type = text.css >

    #div {padding-left: 100px ;}}

    < / style >

    <! [endif]-->

    As I understand it, the main css instructions is still in effect, that only the left padding will change. But when I view the page in the lab browser, the comment by the State has no effect. What Miss me?

    Hello

    The style of text scrolling is done via the "text_scroll.js" JavaScript file and that's why you can not style using css, the script file has also said that it should not be used as an external file (should be on the page, not a link).

    I also noticed that the JavaScript is on the web site of dynamic disk and this site is known for providing the code that only works in specific browsers, it's just one of the reasons why I would suggest looking for other JavaScript code.

  • Conditional comments in DW templates

    I started to use the conditional comments these days to help target CSS to IE6 and IE7, however Dreamweaver does not appear to understand the links related to the conditional comments and so don't update when used in a template on a site.

    For example, if I have:

    <!-[if lte IE 6] >
    "" < link href = "... / assets/css/screen-ie6.css" rel = "stylesheet" type = "text/css" media = "screen" / >
    <! [endif]-->

    In a model, usually in the code HTML the relative to the CSS path will update on several pages of the site. But none so if it is in a conditional comment. Instead, I have to use the absolute path ' / assets/css/screen-ie6.css ' which has then stops fully test me the local site on my PC.

    Anyone know of a way around this? Or is it to Adobe to make an update for DW for relative pathnames can be re-writings in the DW templates (which would be fine)...

    Best wishes
    Simon

    Of course I do!

  • How to have the backup CSS navigation for older browsers

    Hello

    I'm on DW CS4 and I use an iMac intel. I just put a new CSS cool gradient on the my site navigation bar, and I know that I need a backup for older browsers that cannot display the CSS gradients.

    And I * thought * that simply by putting in solid background colors as a backup in the same chains of CSS would work for older browsers. But I don't get any result on IE 6 - I simply empty squares for navigation. The text is there fortunately, but this is all I get.

    http://www.frankbright.com/index3.htm

    Could someone point me to a tutorial or offer a tip on how to do this? I really appreciate all the assistance.

    Thank you, Frank B.

    One trick is to use conditional comments to earlier versions of Internet Explorer. Comment between theandTags of your HTML documents like this:

  • Conditional comments in templates

    CS3, Mac (PPC)

    Hi, I have a model that has quite naturally all its external CSS files linked from a region NOT editable, and, as I expect, these links are adjusted properly in pages based on a template, everywhere where they reside. Except that is for the link inside a conditional comment (providing CSS) fixed for IE. It will NOT refresh (if I move the file from one directory to another I can see Changing the links for the other CSS files, but the commented it remains unchanged).

    Is it because he is seen by DW as being a comment? Are commented links not updated the regular link?

    Quote:
    Correctimundo. Make the link a root relative. Then, it will not be
    has succeeded.

    Hmm. Not Management commented links appears as an odd choice on the part of the developers of DW... do you know if it is intended or just an oversight? Conditional comments are hardly obscure, after all, and I sometimes include links that are commented out until a later stage of development. Non of these things is a layer extra set of things to remember.

    Well, at least relative to the root thing is a workaround of sorts, as long as I don't forget to change the model before you put the site on the server. Thanks again for your help Murray.

  • Conditional comments

    I have a few questions about conditional comments. First of all, they work only for Internet Explorer, right? So, if I have something like:

    <!-[if lt IE 9] >

    < p > Hi there! < /p >

    <! [endif]-->

    All modern browsers will see as a comment and move on, right?  Older versions of Explorer don't recognize (a) the comment syntax and see the greeting, or (b) just look like a conditional comment that they are supposed to run if they are IE8 or more?

    What happens if the old versions of Firefox running through it, or an old version of a non - IE browser...  Are they see it as a comment, or what will happen? Something bad?

    Thank you!

    Standard as HTML comments have always existed and were always ignored by browsers.

    The conditional as comments is ignored as a standard comment.

    Make sure you just never use you two - at the beginning and at the end of your comments, things like can cause validation problems.

  • Need help for debugging CSS for IE6 and IE7

    I'd appreciate anyone with a bit of free time to give another pair of eyes. I tried a number of hacks found on this forum and other places to ensure that IE plays well with this site of two columns, I've been thinking, but according to BrowserLabs, there are still problems with IE6 and IE7. Naturally, all other browsers, including IE8 (!), goes as planned.

    The initial attempt, I settled on is here: http://www.patriciayoungquist.com/pages/public/welcome.html . (This page is representative, as all other internal pages are built the same way.) According to BrowserLabs, pageContent and copyright divs rather than show beside and below (respectively) drop-in IE6 and IE7. I still think there's a simple solution here, but I was not able to hit on him

    So I started a new model and CSS to see if I could work out another way and came with http://www.patriciayoungquist.com/pages/test/PYPAtemplate.html . Curiously, this still works in all and now works in IE6 but not in IE7. In IE7, the sidebar is displayed on top of the pageContent.

    I don't know there is something obvious that I'm missing. Work in CS4, and I know the pages validate. So, if anyone has any suggestions, I'd like to try.

    Thank you

    Chris

    Using your first link as an example, I see several things that are not fair.

    (1) do not use positioning.  For the majority of your layout of the site, you must use default CSS that is not positioning at all.

    (2) a fixed positioning does not work in older IE on any container except the body.  It's playing havoc with your left sidebar.  Solution is to remove position: fixed and replace by float: left.  In addition, you may need to add a clearing for your footer float.

    (3) height is a restriction.  Remove height of containers with text in them.

    (4) to align elements on the page, use the margins, padding, or floats - not absolute, fixed or relative positioning.

  • How to access the CSS files for the plugin Enkitec-database file directory navigation bar

    Apex 4.2.3.00.08

    Enkitec-NavBar-1-2-0-for-4-2

    Hi I am faced with the same question that: https://community.oracle.com/thread/2563229

    Enkitec vertical list Navbar appears momentarily until it is formatted by CSS and it seems OK.

    It is really annoying and makes pages look stupid. This problem is identified as a performance problem and can be solved by putting the support of Plugin files in directories of files instead of the database.

    I created a directory on the database server: D:\102175\Kav\Plugin

    I created a Directory pointing to the file directory database:

    CREATE or REPLACE directory PLUGIN AS "D:\102175\Kav\Plugin".

    GRANT READ THE PLUGIN DIRECTORY TO THE PUBLIC;

    GRANT READ THE PLUGIN DIRECTORY TO ANONYMOUS.

    GRANT READ THE PLUGIN DIRECTORY FOR UTVIKLING.

    I also copied the CSS etc support plugin files in the files directory.

    In the Apex plugin I changed the prefix 'file' #PLUGIN_PREFIX # D:\102175\Kav\Plugin

    Now all the Navbar formatting disappeared and now the navigation bar appears only in form of vertical list.

    I also tried to use the PLUGIN as 'File prefix' same thing.

    I'm not Apex or Web expert so I'm sure there is something that I misunderstood.

    Hope some of you are able to help out me.

    Sincerely

    Arild

    Hmmm, well it does not matter if you do the mapping. The embedded PL/SQL gateway is well integrated in the database in PL/SQL.  All your resources (images, CSS, javascript, etc.) are still be extracted from the base in order to be served to the client. Those in the file system are not in use after installation.

    This is going to be heavy.

    I think you may still be able to make some optimizations by moving the assets of plugin for a name that is mapped by the gateway.

    In your apex installation, take a look at apxldimg.sql see how records and assets are added.  You can then add the plugin files.

    See if that helps.

    In addition, you can follow the comments of Patrick on the post you are referencing and move the inclusion of files to the top of the page AND change the plugin so it does ' t add any more files.  Now in theory, you can skip the download folder and the image and add the plugin assets as standard apex post and reference them with #WORKSPACE_IMAGES # #APP_IMAGES, or # (if you add specifically for an application). But you still want to include them at the top of the page.

    Sorry... I know it's a lot of things to take and much heavier than expected.

    Thank you

  • Optional region works for IE6

    Hello
    I have a model with three optional regions. Two of them appear together. The third argument will replace the first two for some pages. I tested it in FF, Opera, Netscape, Camino, Mozilla (most of them for PC and Mac) and the work of optional regions perfectly. When I tested it in IE6 for PC, optional regions operate partially. I hide two of the regions and show a, but the space where were two hidden areas is not satisfactory in the visible region, but the page gets all messed.
    Could you please advice?
