Conditional graphic master page?

Hello

In my guide, I manage the display of different product data using conditions. On the cover of the page I have inserted an image of the product or project, the guide is for. Currently, this image is imported by reference into a frame on the page of the body.

Recently I played a little bit after you insert the image directly on the master page for this cover page for I can have the image displayed in the entire page in the bottom of a box of title, which worked well.

Where I'm stuck now, it's when I try to package the image on the master page.

After reading some other posts related to this forum, my first conclusion would be to pack in and continue to replace manually cover photo, but I have two questions to ask before doing this:

1: is it really impossible to somehow make this conditional image?

2: If the answer to question 1 is negative, is there a way to have this image to display on the page of body in the background so I can make it conditional it?

Thank you

concerning

David

Re: but it was not possible to "send to back" title image

I just created a new image (bottom) MP and was able to select and send back both the imported graphic and text parent block, but not the anchor frame.

  • highest graphic need to master page header

    Hello

I am a new user and start to take.  However, I need a graph displays a master page header.  I looked into this and found the following:

"If you want a master item to appear in front of objects on the document page, assign a top layer of the object on the master. An element of master on a top layer appears in front of all objects on lower layers. »

But how do I do this - the main page of layers do not show on the page of the document.

    Thank you very much!

I think it's because of the blending Mode. Outer glow by default to the screen, and the shadow cast by default are multiplying. If you change the outer glow blending Mode to multiply, it will behave exactly as in the shadow of a fact.

  • multiple automatic master page assignments in an InDesign document

I got quite a request of my client, and I don't know if this is possible. We are working on a multiple-chapter, each chapter as its own document, manual. They want what he delivered under a pdf print and interactive pdf. So far so good.

Now comes the part that I can't quite wrap my head around. They want different templates for each type of pdf and want only a delivered InDesign file. The masters will be probably different headers (created in Illustrator) and elements assigned. They also talk about the different margins, and I hope that they decide against it.

I pronounce the InDesign files, but also print and interactive files. The client wants something that she can work well with in the future.

    So, my questions:

    (1) is there an easy way to change the Master pages in a document without changing the presentation? Perhaps using a script any? Is it possible to use a book .indb file to achieve this? I really don't want to have to reassign the master pages

    (2) I found that pages in the documents does not always block for text frames in master pages, especially the first in threaded frames. Any ideas why this happens? When I put the text to the second, third, fourth etc pages they lock to the master. This is the first image I have trouble with. So if I can't solve this problem, so I have to also make sure that all text blocks are always aligned correctly.

I hope I gave enough information. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

I don't know exactly what's there for tutorials, but I suspect that if do a search of conditional text in InDesign you'll find more than one.

My workflow has not yet necessary to alternative layouts (come close once on a brochure for page American and European sizes, but he managed with two files because the customer was still CS3 and did not want to update), but I probably strongly consider if the customer insists on two layouts. If everything that they change the graphic and you use conditional text you can produce one, change the conditions and the other output. There is no move to do something manual along the line here.

  • Final result does not match the Master Page

I'm so frustrated with Muse right now I could scream. I'm creating a simple landing page, a single page, where what little information it is (a graphic background, logo and contact information) is the master. I want to just publish a page that is exactly like the master, but this does not seem possible with Muse. Why is this? What Miss me? If you open the master page and go where the text breaks for mobile display, there is a blue graph that I placed at the bottom to fill in the blanks. Has gone in the final result and the page is excessive in length, I can't change in any way. The master is set to vertical 956px, but the last page is at 1080. There is nothing hidden anywhere on the page or master.

I would be very grateful for any help anyone could give me, thanks in advance.

    Hi David,

Thanks a lot for your answer. However, after consideration and discussion with my client, I think I'll try to rebuild the page from scratch, since it's so simple, see how it works first. I'll get in touch if I'm still having the same problem.

  • Blocks of text on the Master Pages with CS3?

I produce a catalog in CS3 on my Mac using OS Mavericks.

I put in place of master pages with square 6 graphic blocks on each page. Each of them has a CAPTION below, in which I put up as a block of text. I clicked on "Apply Master pages", but when I go to the blocks of text pages are not displayed to the top. The only way I can enter captions on pages is by creating new blocks of text, 6 on each page, which is very tedious and time consuming. What I am doing wrong?

    Thank you.

    Welll...

As bob says it is not Quark where you can just click to type in a main frame, but you CAN Cmd + Shift + click to override the main chassis and type in it. You might be better off, however, with a framework prédimensionnée and style in a library that you can drag onto the page and position. My feeling on frameworks masters get substitution is that they probably shouldn't be on the master page at all.

  • I just can't control an article on my master page

In the master page (right/odd pages) I have a chart, but when I mount it more and tries to remove it, another is automatically generated. Strangely, if I do the same on the left side its all fine.

    Ideas?

Okay - mystery solved. I had made the graphic on the left master page and then copied to the master page to the right. Somehow, he is still technically attached left (even if it was not at all on the left).

When I have it has redrawn on the right, then I was able to remove it. I don't know why, but that's my story. Hope this helps someone else.

  • Footer without the master page and links to multiple anchors

I'm working on the landing page for a website and I wanted to create box that was left at the bottom of the browser window and a hyperlink to the next anchor below.

If you load the page and when you click on the box that need you to the first anchor point, paragraph of the text. If you click it again it scrolls down to the next to the next anchor point, a table, and so on (hope that makes sense).

So the first step to create a rectangle and keep him in the foot, but the page I'm getting has a master page, and because of that I can't solve or even see foot of page guide.

This is my first question: How can I create a footer without going through a master page?

My second question: how to hyperlink to the anchor next below the current position?

(I'm new to both Muse and the forums, so I apologize if this is a simple question, or if it has already been answered.)

As for the second question, there is a work around to get there using the opacity in the effects of scorl Panel. See attachments.

I created a word/link called then. He performed the fallen on the page and linked to a text anchor.

I put in place of the opacity levels in the scroll box based on the position where I wanted to appear/disappear.

I then I duplicated the word/link on another layer (paste in place to ensure that it is in the same position and of course is always pinned), created a new anchor point, linked to this anchor (test2) then set my rate of opacity in the scrollbars appear/disappear when I needed.

So what is happening is the text or graphic link is to appear/disappear when you move to the bottom of the page.

Note the numbers of pixel opacity on two attachments to see the effect.

I put them on different layers so that they are easy to select, because they are above the other

  • Bringing images of the master page to the front

Well, I hope I can explain it clearly enough.

I created something framed for mywebsite with a right-hand vertical menu.  Everything has been created with quite complex graphics and what I would like is for some content to put behind the images create my layout on the master page.  But as I understand it, whatever it is created on the master page is locked and moved into the background.  To compensate for this I had to cut the PNG files, resize them and before them ontop of the content.  It's awkward, and the images don't align exactly leaving jagged edges.  I feel that I do a more difficult life for me, so is it not bring all the images and links towards the front of the page master?

    Thank you!

    Hello

You can use the layers feature in Muse to bring the elements of the master page to the front. If you want to wear all the content of the master page to the front, the easiest way is to put all the master page content in a layer and put layer tha at the front.

    More info on layers here:

  • Connecting a footer to another page in your master page?

I would like to have one link terms and Conditions, as well as a few others that are all on the foot of the bottom of the Page Master. How do I create and bind it? What I owe to child sites I do creat under each page and link to him some how?

    1. in your master page create the text "terms and Conditions".

    2. place the text in your page footer area.

    3. Select the text and check the box 'Footer' to assign the text as a footer. (located on the top toolbar)

4 Select the text and the link with the terms and Conditions you created the page. (look for the box next to the word "hyperlinks: ' on the toolbar above, select Show will drop and with all the pages that you have created, select the page and the text will be linked to this page.)

  • Update of master pages and formats in several dynamic projects

I'm a student just starting to learn FrameMaker, so I apologize if this is an inappropriate question. While I was do pretty well with the program and completed a few fairly important projects, I have not really seen how FrameMaker is used in major projects in the industry. So I tried to think about questions that may arise. One that occurs to me is the scenario where a number of computer manuals for a family of products is developed. They all need to be formatted in the same way. Of course, you start by developing a model with master pages and then start each manual based on this model. But then what happens if we discover that for some reason any, that we have to change a graphic on master pages (or something on the pages of reference, a paragraph tag or a variable)? On the import of these things in another file, it is a possibility. But all those working on the project have to do it manually for each file in every book? Or y at - it a way to get these things put updated dynamically across multiple files?

Or I'm misunderstading how such a project, and so this is a false problem in practice.

    Thanks for any clarification.

    Import formats is very flexible.

Brief description of van of synchronization of formats across two or more files by importing them from a master file is excellent. However, it highlights one of the problems with the feature import Formats: it can import that categories of full format - all the variables, the paragraph formats, etc. To selectively import only a part of a category of format, savve a copy of the main template under a new name, then delete everything unwanted in each category of format, save the file, and then use this model custom as the source for the file > import > Formats.

Google search for terms such as "suppression of the FrameMaker formats", without the quotes, for more details.

You can also use a custom master file to create new formats and import them into your main template file, or you can keep this custom template independent of the general model and the new formats for import it.

  • How do I paste text in a text block created via a master page?

I'm struggling with InDesign CS 5.5 (on a Mac under OS 10.7.4): I'm sure it's very basic, but I just can't cope. (I'm a photographer, not a graphic designer, so a beginner with InDesign.)

I created a series of master pages in order to throw a book it is the photos and text of 50-50. I try to paste text into a new page, based on one of my master pages of text. I can see the text box on the page as a dotted outline, but I can't seem to stick in there. When I try and click a command-V, InDesign creates rather a small square box with the first words of the text inside.

Should I have not designed my book using templates? I thought that if I placed my graphic boxes and text (for the legends as well as the main text) on these master pages, it would be easy to fill the boxes with text and images. Rather pages based on these masters look like tempting fantasies, showing me the ghosts of real text and graphics boxes that I need for my book.

(I already had a disastrous initial attempt to add text to my document by placing the entire file, when I knew he would still form edition - I then couldn't remove the superfluous pages without creating text doubled on the odd pages; and when I tried to dissociate things disappeared around text boxes.) I thought paste a section at a time instead would be foolproof. But not so far).

To replace your frames of masters, if that is the route you decide to take, hold down the command + shift and click the image.

  • Two Master Pages at the same time / or something similar

    Hello

I'm trying to figure out the most effective way to implement "tabs" on the sides of the 180-page document.

In an ideal world, I would have a single master page have the blue bar with tabs (see photo). This master page would apply to the entire document.

Then I would create a bunch of pages masters "secondary" with color tabs (on the photo, it would be the orange tab under the term "Incontinence").

Color tabs would be activated at once, for the different sections (for example, incontinence should be enabled on pages 20-40, then Wound Care for 40-80 pages, etc.).

Is it possible to do? To have a sort of "secondary" master page. Or better yet, switch to conditional show/hide for the tabs colorful, from page numbers?

    Thank you.

    Tabs.png

    Hello

Yes, it is possible to create master pages Childs, based on their parental master page. For example, create a master page has the tab. Then create other masterpages based on A as AA, AB, AC, etc. with a tab overrided with changes.

Later, you can apply these children to the pages of the document.

If something changes on A it is passed through to the pages (which are the grandchildren of Master A).

PS: I hate the AutoCorrect in Safari which always seeks to improve the texts with words of nonsense, that's why I had to change it once.

  • Master pages

I'm sure it's a simple solution, but was considered the frustration...

I created the page master and impose pg numbers and essential info "footer" and applied the master page to all pages.

My question is, I do not see the page master items/information graphics boxes or the text created on my pages. Help!

Create a layer for the Master Page items, place all your master the elements on it and move it before all your other layers.

  • The master pages, layers and immutable objects

Help! We are new to Indesign CS5, using Quark previously to our magazine.

We have created multiple master pages with layers; a header section etc., graphics, help lines, pagina.

There are two text boxes ready to the title and signature, filled with text.

When you add new pages to the document, the layers do not - follow the objects in the layer (layers sup?) disappear and appear to be flattened on the layer, make no editable objects. The layers are unlocked and we have disabled the selection objects locked "to prevent" in the preferences. (I read that it is the solution in other threads here).

Any tool or key/combo try us, the result is the same. Adding a new page, or by adding a blank page and applying the master gets the same result; a page with the layers but objects flattened on the layer, and we can even select them / change.

There's probably a simple explanation here, but we are at our wit's end.

    Help, please!

    IRIL & Tina, Norway

One of the biggest differences between Quark and InDesign is how are managed master items. Master page items are all locked to the master and not selectable on the live pages.

You can cmd + shift / ctrl + shift-click to replace them, but the point is that anything it either on a master will not move or be changed. For a block of text to be completed of text on each page, I personally prefer to drag a snippet on the live page, but you may prefer the substitution command.

This is a great book for beginners to InDesign.
