Connection to SQL 2005 for Oracle error

I have an Oracle database and the SQL database on the same server and want to use odbc to connect to tables database and query SQL 2005 with my choice.

I have properly configured the ODBC and called the TSH_ARCHIVE DSN. I tested it and it works fine. But every time that I run the following query I get the error:

SQL > select count (*) in BALANCES_HS@tse_archive;
Select count (*) in BALANCES_HS@tse_archive
*
ERROR on line 1:
ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified

Any suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello
TNS-12560 and TNS - 530 errors can have various causes, so we need more information. Is there something in the listner journal that gives more details and you are able to start the other earpiece without any problem?

Kind regards
Mike

Hi, could someone help me. I recently installed the Oracle 12 c on my laptop. Try to connect the oracle SQL Navigator for oracle database, but could not succeed

Sometimes, this error will occur if the tnsnames.ora file is corrupted. Can you please check tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora with a text editor ordinary for illegal characters (not the one that comes with Navigator because that could make corruption).

Or simply move the tnsnames.ora that far and try with direct connect. (hostname:port\SID).

  • SQL 2005 update failed. error code 663.

I didn't know an answer to my previous question, which was:-my computer to stop asking me to update.  I try and it tells me that try to update sql 2005 failed.  error code 663.  This has happened for a long time.  I am a user of the computer only so don't understand not why I need SQL 2005.  Can someone give me a simple answer please.  I run windows XP media center edition version 2002 service pack 3

You don't need SQL 2005 if you know. You can simply uninstall it from Add and remove programs and uninstalling SQL windows update will not offer you the update and you will not receive an error message, but if you want SQL you have to do is to repair the installation of SQL and the error message will disappear!

  • connect ms sql server to oracle using db link

    Hello

    Source: Oracle 11g on linux

    destination: ms sql server 2005

I need to create the link oracle to ms sql server db to display tables, it is posibble without having to configure gateways (as it looks like it is produced under license)

Please let me know any alternative to achieve this

    Thank you

There are 2 bridge - commercial database gateway for Ms SQl Server, which requires a license and database for ODBC gateway which is free. The license for DG4ODBC is included in your license data. You just need to install an ODBC driver on your Linux machine (for example, to use the MS SQl Server for Linux ODBC driver - details can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=36437 ). and then configure the gateway using the My Oracle Support Note:

The add-on only supported for the moment customer is sqlplus, integration of other utilities is not supported. You can just mix DLLs of different software. There are a few documents on workarounds, for example:

    http://www.nyoug.org/presentations/2007/200703_Ji_Instant%20Client.PDF

But no guarantee that it works and not support of Oracle.

How is the * auditor * configured?

You try to use a SID in the connection descriptor.  The listener listen to this SID?  Check the STATUS of the listener.

  • restore point warranty Vs catdwgrd.sql downgrade for oracle 12 c

I understand that we have two ways to downgrade (assuming that the compatible parameter is not modified) when upgraded us a 11.2.0.3 database for oracle 12 c.

I am curious about the benefits of catdwgrd.sql compared to the guarantees of restore point downgrade. I think that the guaranteed restore point seems very simple

compared to catdwgrd.sql. I also think that oracle brings exactly the database in the same State when we use catdwgrd.sql, while

guaranteed restore point brings back us to the State.

  • VCenter DB from SQL 2005 to Oracle Migration

    Hi all

I am a student if the vCenter DB to SQL 2005 Standard to Oracle migration is possible.

I already read a lot of documentation and found no clue on that goal.

Anyone done any? Is it possible and functional?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

There is a thread on the homepage with the same question.

    http://communities.VMware.com/thread/308260?TSTART=0

So yes it is possible.  But I recommend cool vCenter from a facility.  Either by moving your hosts on manually recreate your pools of files/resources etc, either using a script PowerCLI.  This way you will not end up with a bribery scheme.

  • Instant Client connection problem - Excel 2007 for Oracle 10 g

    Dear users,

I want help to connect Excel to Oracle.
I use Excel 2007 (32-bit) on Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit. I want to connect to a database 10g to Oracle through our local network using ODBC. I need to retrieve data once in an excel sheet.
There is no firewall or connection between my current computer problems, problems as I can connect to my machine, using SQL developer as a local client to the Oracle database that is located on another machine on the network.
I tried to make an ODBC connection, but Oracle is not listed as a driver.
In my view, what ODBC is the best way to do it, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

It is an Oracle 10 G database.
    I downloaded instantclient-basiclite - 64 - 11.2.0.2.0.zip a windows.x
I also downloaded the additional ODBC components: * Instant Client Package - ODBC: extra to allow ODBC applications libraries.

    I unzipped in a folder called C:\instantclient_11_2
The system path include one. I checked after reboot.
I placed my tnsnames.ora (that I copied from the server) in this folder.
I got it from the server: D:\Oracle\Ora10gR2DB\network\admin\tnsnames.ora

I ran the exe "odbc_install" and he told me that the ODBC has been successfully intalled.

When I went to the Control Panel, administrative tools, ODBC

    On the user dsn tab

I added a new entry. I chose the Oracle driver (previously it was not in the list)

    Use the following values

    Data Source name: OracleL
    123 description
The TNS Service name: I chose for my prod environment drop-down list. (There are two entrances with the name of the production, one uppercase and one lowercase)

    UserID: my user name

I tried the connection Test and got this:

    Unable to connect

    SQlState = S1000
[Oracle] [ODBC] [Ora] ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist

    Any suggestions please.

    Thnaks in advance.

    A.

If Excel is 32-bit (2007a) and the Oracle client libraries are 64-bit, it will not work. needs 32-bit 32-bit.
You should probably remove current ic packages and get the 32-bit instead.
    Start over.

On Windows x 64, to run the 32 - bit ODBC DSN/drivers, we need run the Windows\SysWoW64\odbcad32.exe tool.

  • SQL Query for Oracle DB followed by using vCOPS

    Hi guys,.

I installed a general SQL adapter to monitor an Oracle database in my environment. But I am not able to make it work there are a lot of problems in writing a SQL Quries. I work with one of the DBA and we are still not able to write the query to the right. Can someone give me an example of a query so that I can test it or tell me how to write the query to Oracle DB. Examples of files that are given under/samples/folder conf in the plug-in does not help us. So if someone has a link or if someone has it please help me with query files.

    Thanks in advance

fix. the biggest challenge with the SQL adapter is to write the query in such a way the release of product that is easily consumable by vcops and maps directly to RESOURCEKIND and RESOURCENAME in vcops. The result can also be hierarchical for more efficiency, i.e.

  • Migration from SQL Server 2005 to Oracle 10g

    Dear friends,

I need to move my tables with data from SQL Server 2005 to Oracle 10 g. How can we make the best possible?

    Please guide me.

    Nith

Here are the 4 options (it is perhaps more)

    * 1.* export to text file in SQL2005 and load text files using external table in Oracle

    * 2 in the Oracle ODBC for SQL Server connection configuration and simply pull the data using create table abc to select * mytable@sqlserver - if the oracle is on windows, this should be quick, free and painless, it works under unix as well. Examples

    http://www.databasejournal.com/features/Oracle/article.php/3442661/making-a-connection-from-Oracle-to-SQL-Server.htm
    http://www.easysoft.com/applications/Oracle/database-gateway-dg4odbc.html

    * 3.*, I think that you can configure the connection between SQL SERVER and Oracle

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/280106

or and I hate this solution in general, but it works in the content is low

    * 4 in MS Access link to ORACLE and MS SQL Tables (two linked tables) and then create the insert query to move the data from the server sql for oracle - this solution works, but it is quite slow.

  • Connection of ColdFusion with MS SQL 2005

Please help with this question, if you have any suggestions. I am trying to establish a connection to my IIS with ColdFusion server to another local server with a database of MS SQL 9.0. I can connect to this database using Enterprise from another computer, but when I use the same user name and password in ColdFusion I get the following error:

Connection verification failed for data source: FORMS
java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] [SQL Server] Login failed for user 'domain\coldfusion '. The user is not associated with a SQL Server login that is approved.
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] [SQL Server] Login failed for user 'domain\coldfusion '. The user is not associated with a SQL Server login that is approved.

I have reinstalled ColdFusion without error and have also installed the JDBC MS MS SQL 2005 driver but still the same error.

Thanks for your suggestions you may have.

    Craig

If there is no one else with this problem, I have something you can try. It worked for me and I can't connect to SQL 2005 using ODBC Socket. The IIS computer has been using the system identification information and not the power of ColdFusion, I had created.

On the ColdFusion application server goto the properties of the Server ODBC and the CF officer. Under LogOn change the connection information for the username and password you have set up for ColdFusion for both and then restart these services. When you configure your ODBC Socket do not include the username or password information.

I hope that CF8 will include Windows authentication. Even with this workaround, we will have to mixed authentication on SQL which is not ideal.

  • Developer equivalent Edition for Oracle?

I'm a software developer and database which currently specializes in Microsoft SQL Server, but I'd like to be able to offer Oracle to my customers as well.  I use SqlServer MS SQL Server Developer Edition on my laptop, which has all the technical features of SQL Server, but is allowed only for development purposes and is very cheap (under $ 150).

I took some training for Oracle, but I would get something similar for learning, practice, try things and development on my laptop.  Is there something equivalent available for Oracle developers?  I tried Google this, but that just begins to turn upward of "SQL Developer for Oracle" which I * think * is just the developer GUI and not the DBMS itself. (?)

If it's important, my laptop is running Windows 7 x 64.  Thank you...

You can use the version business development for free and download from OTN.

See the license here: terms of the OTN Developer license

But if you want to go to production, you will need a permit.

Do not use XE for development - because it has several limitations - if your customer is going to buy a license.
